    Fuel Center
    Alex V.

The good part is that this usually has the cheapest gas in the area tied with Costco down the block. Unfortunately it reportedly doesn't have the detergent in it that Costco has, so it's not quite as good there. The other drawbacks are many, including that you have to have a Sam's Club membership to buy gas, of course. And since Sam's Club is popular there is almost always a big line to get to one of the pumps even though there are lots of pumps. One factor contributing to the line that is a pet peeve is that they only allow you to drive through one direction in order to control traffic flow, I guess. But that means that half the pumps have extra long lines because more people have a gas tank on that side of their car. This results in me getting in the shorter line each time and having to stretch the hose over my trunk to insert into the opposite side. Absurd! Other drawbacks are that you can't use cash and can only pay at the pump, although they have an app that you can pay from if that's easier. The hours are also shorter than average because the store isn't open late. In short, it's a very no-frills gas experience, though I still use it when I have a membership. It's conveniently located and always has window cleaner squeegees at the pumps and is well covered from the rain and sun most of the time, but it's nothing special for a few cents savings.

Two attendants chatting, the pump we tried near where they were talking they were standing nearby in the way. We got them to move- seemed they were deep in comvo instead of helping us get fuel which is the purpose they are there- RIGHT? No! Get this: First, the card reader didn't work- ok- the guy tried to help- fine. Then we went to another pump which since it was pretty much empty we circled around and ended up facing the entrance to try and get fuel. The male attendant talked to me, all the while my boyfriend got fuel and told us the manager will turn off the pump if he sees anyone doing that. The only way around it is him staying there talking to me. He told me that on another occasion- there was an incident where a woman got mad for some reason- got an attorney and sued Sam's. Strange. Anyway, I felt intimidated and upset because by that time the place started filling up and then we would have had to wait in line again to get fuel. Doesn't the manager take that into account???? No!!! Meanwhile, the woman whose thought left- comes back and starts chatting with my boyfriend like she's trying to pick him up, the male attendant get mad at her tells her to leave- she refuses, they start FIGHTING! Angry words, nothing physical but GEEZ!!! Horrible experience- would give them no stars if I could. I hate Sam's! My boyfriend has a card, I used to and quit because of the bad prices. See prior posts. How I hate coming to Sam's! Yet another awful experience!!!

The sale end 3/30/25 and they didn't want to even try and help the elderly lady after they tell her it's available just in the back!!!!

Literally just now 3/25/25 my elderly mother went to the electronics section and found her Epson printer she wanted on sale. She asked the female associate if they had more and the associate found 6 more in the back in stock. They just hadn't brought more up front. The lady told my mom she could wait because the printers are all still there..... Well there were none on the show room floor they were in the back. My mom says well the sale ends on3/30 and I need it. Then I tell my mom to ask another associate because this one obviously didn't want to get help or even try. She asked a male associate, who straight up lies to her and says there are no more and tells her she can go to another Sams because they are priced the same. My mom tells him what the associate prior said they had some in the back but hadn't brought them to the floor and she was trying to have my mom wait days...literally my mom tells them the sale ends 3/30/25. Management really should have a talk with their associates just standing around not doing anything... Elderly people should not be treated like this and sent on goose chases when it your job to be honest and help!!!! Very disappointed and ending my membership

    Pretty good chicken salad

I like it here. There's always that Sam's vs Costco debate but personally I get a lot of my needs met here from photos to glasses to Rx to bulk food and church bulk needs. Now that we got onto the better membership plan we are actually making $ cashing back and waiving the annual fee. Yes the place may look drab and it's dimmer so more depressing to shop here vs Costco but still it's roomier, people are friendlier and there's no one pushing carts into you. Samples are during lunch or snack times and they give alot and there isn't crazy shoving lines like Costco. Overall prices are good esp when there are deals. Funny how some stuff they have here Costco doesn't so we still hit both but meats I've found better deals here. I like their pizza here too. Thinner and maybe greasier but it's good. Their chicken salad croissant sandwich is good. They give alot. Their ice cream is bigger and cheaper here too and their hot dogs are huge. This Sam's is our go to. Very convenient location too. Been going here for decades and Love seeing same friendly faces still working here. Kerp it up Sam's!

EBT Costco. The rotisserie chickens are rarely not overcooked, if there are any at all. Their food court pizza is incredible though.

Thankfully, help arrived before I had time to spiral into Googling "How to survive permanently stranded in your driveway." The roadside assistance technician showed up calm, professional, and completely unfazed by my dramatic retelling of events. Within minutes, they diagnosed the issue, got things sorted out, and brought my car back to life like some kind of automotive wizard. What could have turned into a full‑blown inconvenience (or emotional breakdown) ended up being quick and painless. No lectures, no eye‑rolling...just efficient help and a running vehicle again. The car was not tired, but the battery was a bit weak. While roadside service was free through our insurance plan, we had to pay for battery, which was reasonably priced. Thanks to roadside assistance, my car is no longer staging protests, and I can once again go about my day pretending this never happened. Highly recommend Alpha Roadside Services and Battery... especially if your car enjoys surprise rebellion.

They sent Jimmel with Alpha Roadside and he was there within the hour. He quickly diagnosed the issue (dead battery) and even offered a replacement there on the spot. But.... I figured such convenience would come with a premium and that I could get a better deal at Auto Zone, so I passed and just asked for a jump. Big mistake!! When I got to AutoZone, they didn't even have a 5yr battery for my truck. The 4yr they had they said "would work" but wasn't fitted properly for my vehicle so "might move around" (say what???). AND their batteries were more expensive. So I called Jimmel and he offered to meet me at my house where he got me taken care of in a jiffy. Better batter, lower price, more convenient and it comes with the same warranty you'd get when buying at a store like Auto Zone or anywhere else. Plus Jimmel is just a super nice and very friendly person to deal with! Will definitely call Alpha Roadside next time I'm in need!

Y'all I'm sad to have to update this review, but I had a bad experience as a woman and want to warn…read moreother women about it. A few weeks ago I dropped my car off for a repair. I got great quick feedback about the repair needs and was recommended for an oil change. I noticed on the vehicle repair report that was texted to me that the technician clocked my vehicle mileage at about 41,000. I deep down knew that wasn't correct, but when I saw it clocked in the report, I just thought I must have misremembered the mileage. So I okayed the oil change. Service was very quick and I was notified that my car was ready same day that I agreed to the repairs. I do love that, because I hate being without my car. So they get 3 stars still for quick service. Fast forward to the morning I picked my car up. It was 8 am, and the manager Adrian Perez starts laying into me hardcore mansplaining for 8 minutes about my poor choice of not getting an oil change at 5,000 miles. He could tell by my body language that I was not receptive, backed off for a second, and then laid into me for another 5 minutes, lecturing me about different engine types, how his truck's engine is superior to my car's little engine, and blah blah blah. I could tell the millennial tech Andy was cringing while his boss proceeded to spew this patriarchal bullshit at me. Anyhoo, I'm polite while listening to the manager's diatribe. I just want to get my car and go to work. Finally, when I get in my car, I realize my gut feeling was correct: my car only has 36,000 some odd miles on it, and I found the oil change sticker Lambs gave me, which stated that I WASN'T DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE UNTIL 38,000 some odd miles. So, I'm not mad that they got my mileage wrong, and I paid for an early oil change. I'm pissed that Adrian Perez talked down to me like I was a child. I'm a grown ass woman and paying customer. A simple "We recommend an oil change every 5,000 miles" would have sufficed. I update my review to warn women: Adrian Perez may mansplain shit to you. But the other guys at the shop so far seem respectful.

They operate 24/7, and unbelievably, they did not charge extra for an after-hours emergency call, nor was there any type of travel fee. This alone speaks volumes about their integrity and customer care. I had a blowout in my kid's Tesla on a Friday night around 9:30 PM, and within 45 minutes of calling, they were already on-site changing the damaged tire. I assumed they would put a slightly used tire on, however it was a brand new tire. The total cost for their services was less than what I would have paid at a tire shop just to purchase one tire, which is incredible given the convenience and speed. The only reason I went back to discount tire today to use the road hazard warranty that I had purched when replacing these tires last month was purely for my OCD ways and wanting my set of 4 tires to match. The two technicians who arrived were extremely polite, professional, and understanding, knowing how eager we were to get safely back on the road. The payment process was also seamless -- they accepted Zelle, making it one of the easiest parts of an already smooth experience. Huge thanks to David and his coworker for their outstanding service and for getting us back on the road so quickly. I will absolutely recommend this company to anyone who needs tire service. However, my experience completely changed afterward. Today, I needed to replace my brake pads and attempted to remove the wheels myself. I was unable to loosen the lug nuts because they had been tightened extremely hard during my previous visit. While trying to remove them, I broke one of the wheel studs due to the excessive force required. I stopped immediately and went back to Orange Tire to address the issue. I explained that I had been there a month ago and that their team had overtightened the lug nuts to the point where I couldn't remove them. Instead of taking responsibility, the staff initially tried to blame rust. I can understand one stuck lug nut -- but not three out of five on a single wheel. That's not normal and clearly indicates improper torque. The manager spent about 15-20 minutes on the phone (possibly with the owner), and eventually told me that I would need to purchase new parts myself, bring them in, and they would replace them for free. I offered a simple and reasonable solution -- just reimburse the cost so I could handle the repair myself and not waste additional time. However, the owner responded in a dismissive and unfriendly manner, refusing any refund and insisting I follow their process. This situation shows a lack of accountability and poor customer service. What started as a great experience turned into a very disappointing one. Be careful -- over-tightened lug nuts can cause serious damage and additional expenses.

It's a small place but seems quite equipped to manage a lot of car issues, and the gentleman who did my inspection that day (Charlie) was the sole person doing them, so he was cranking through a list of folks. They put your name on the clipboard when you arrive and just go straight down that list. I'd called beforehand to confirm their hours and theyd advised to come early so I came around 9a or so. I think the wait was about 15-20 mins? Really wasn't bad, I just fiddled with my phone and sat in my car. The actual inspection was also pretty fast, like 10 mins or maybe even a bit less. I appreciated the efficiency. Of note they do charge a 3% credit card fee. A lot of places do that nowadays, but that was really the only "surprise." They also offer a basic inspection ($12, basics to renew car reg) or a more thorough one for $18 where they check your wipers and lights etc.

Let's be real: getting your oil changed usually ranks somewhere between "waiting at the DMV" and "realizing you forgot your charger at home." But Lube Pit Stop on South Lamar managed to turn it into the best oil change experience I've ever had in this city. And I don't say that lightly. From the moment I pulled in, the vibe was pure old-school Austin--friendly, unpretentious, and refreshingly human. No corporate script. No forced smiles. Just genuinely kind, courteous folks who seem to actually care about the people driving through their bays. Here's what really stood out: No upselling. None. Zero. Zilch. No "while we're at it..." scare tactics. No mystery fluids that suddenly must be replaced. Just honest work, clearly explained. Quick and efficient. I barely had time to scroll Yelp before they were done. In and out without feeling rushed or overlooked--an impressive balance. Kindness across the board. The entire team was polite, professional, and approachable in a way that feels increasingly rare. It wasn't flashy--it was sincere. And here's the kicker: when I drove away, I felt good. No second-guessing. No lingering "did I just get taken?" anxiety. Just the calm confidence that comes from dealing with people who do their job well and don't try to squeeze every extra dollar out of you. They also do state inspections, which is officially the cherry on top. One stop, no nonsense, handled by people you trust? That's a win in Austin traffic math. This is the kind of local business you root for. The kind you tell your friends about. The kind that quietly becomes your place without you even realizing it. Lube Pit Stop is officially who I'll be using from now on--and honestly, I hope they never change a thing. Highly recommend. Old Austin energy. Solid service. Zero BS.
