My family have been Sam's Club members for 24 years, primarily using this location, and in that time I have seen them decline significantly in quality. Prices have gone up, selection has gotten worse, the store has been rearranged numerous times, and the number of employees available to help is much less. Today at least, lines at the registers weren't as absurdly long as usual. However, for no apparent reason my membership card has stopped working. I went to the gas pumps and waited in line (there are almost always lines 3+ cars long), only for the pump to wrongly claim that my membership is inactive. The attendant at the pumps ignored my attempts to get her attention, so I went inside to the customer service desk. They claimed there was nothing wrong with my membership, but I had them call the attendant outside and ask her to help me. Well, I went back outside and the attendant tried to ignore me again, but I was eventually able to get her attention after the pump once again claimed my membership was inactive. I was only able to pump gas by using a different credit card after the attendant activated the pump with her own card. Finally, I went inside and picked up my groceries. I prefer not to use the self-checkout, but they had only two registers with actual cashiers so it was that or wait another 20 minutes. I decided to use self-checkout, and... you guessed it, it claimed my membership was inactive (remember, I had spoken to the customer service desk and they confirmed that this was NOT the case). I had to call ANOTHER employee over, who got it to accept my membership somehow, and then I was able to finally make my purchases and leave. They really need to cut prices, replace their obviously nonfunctional computer systems, and get more employees out there and able to help people. read more

I bought toilett ptremium paper and paid 27 dollars. I am buying that paper there for many years but this time the paper went down in quality one thin sheet not as wide and yet price went up so much. I will not buy it anymore and will tell my friends not to buy it. This is an example of thr abuse òf many businesses towards us consumers. Total abuse. read more

Even though their gas prices are lower than some of the other gas stations, they have watered down gas too! I had 98 miles on the dashboard when I entered the gas station. After putting $48.00 in the tank & 15 gallons of gas, the dash reads 291 miles of gas! I fill up in Michigan & every time I get around 417 miles on a full tank. Called and talked to Will- he went out of his way to help and was so knowledgable that we drove the next day from Green Bay, WI to Northlake just to get it!! I placed an order on 7/20 for 7/21 delivery and chose my time frame between 9 -11am, @ 1pm I still had no delivery so I chatted with what I thought was customer service (this person is in San Salvador) who informed me that my order was ready and next to be delivered. Carlos stated that maybe they did not have any drivers at that time. if an order is placed the day before, wouldn't you think that who ever is running the show their would make sure to have drivers available for the orders received, duh! So I gave them another 2 hours and chatted again with an agent Gilberto (I am assuming from San Salvador who stated that I would need to call the store. I had to cancel a doctors appointment becuase I have been at home all day waiting for my order. I called the store and got the hung up on twice and got the run around, spoke to a supervisor Amber, who transferred me to curbside where I got hung up yet again! Called back to speak to the store manager and the young lady who answered my call for the fourth time asked "Didn't you just speak to the supervisor" I said yes (Amber who said I need to speak to curbside where I got hung up again and she did everything in her power to connect me to a manger, I spoke to Que who stated they use a company for deliveries called "Spark" and they have gotten several complaints about the deliveries. He is having my order reassigned to another driver but my order will probably not arrive until tomorrow morning. @Mike Happ and @Mike Lindahl you need to review all the complaints about this company that you contract to make things right. I've been a member here for a couple years as it's close to my house and therefore convenient...Usually. The last six Months I've been there multiple times where many shelves are empty and items are out of stock, from meat/produce to packaged goods. Things you could buy the week before are no longer carried. Today I dropped my son off at school and decided to get a shop in. Spent an hour filling up a cart of about $300 worth of groceries. I go to checkout and am told I can't buy these items (store is empty/snow storm) before 10 am unless I want to upgrade to member Plus for another $32. I said screw it, cancelled my membership, left the Full cart and went to Costco and signed up. Instead of getting $500 a month from me in perpetuity, due to poor item management and treating a regular customer like a mark, they lost me for life trying to up charge me over $32. There is no reason to go to this Sam's Club when you have the far superior Costco option. Try harder Sam's! read more

Got a rotisserie chicken, it was a zoo . Must have been at least 15 people waiting. Some cutting each other off like they are getting the last meal on the planet . I'm giving Sams club 2 stars because the chicken was under cooked. The chocked was bleeding a bit once we got closer to the bone. .Sam's Club is highly recommended! A simple grocery store but always fully stocked. They always have quality products, frozen goods, veggies, meats, fruits, and even imported items. I always found here all the things I needed and really important. The whole place is really huge, clean, and organized. The customers can easily walk and look for what they need because the aisle is wide. All of the products and goods are displayed perfectly. So that the customers can easily see the items. The lines at the cashiers are organized, you can check out so quickly, and pay for all the items you have got hassle-free. The location of Sam's Club is very easy to find and visit. They are so near to other well-known places around the area. Really love this place! And will continue to visit and shop here again and again. The Greatest shopping experience I have ever had! Great place to shop at when buying things in bulk! Great deal on Sam's club water bottle packs! Currently have pretty cool Christmas decorations on sale! There are usually weekly sales. Free food samples throughout the store. You can download the 'scan and go' app to avoid long lines. Also this Sam's club does have a gas pump! Worst shopping experience ever. Multiple employees yelled at me. Not once taking the time to explain why the were yelling at me. Arrived 15 minutes before general shopping allowed and girl yelled, your card does not let you shop till 10. At register lady yelled, you have to transfer to this cart. Could they not just speak in a normal voice and tell me what I was doing wrong. Really unnecessary. These are hard times. IF I walked into this Sam's Club and met the man in the "green" vest first I would probably be giving this Club a 4 or even 5 stars, however, I meet the cashier and the exit greeter in the blue vests, of course, near the end of my shopping and was really bummed. Let me tell my story... I planned to do shopping at Sam's Club for a surprise retirement party for my hubby. First: I searched on line for pricing to compare with catering, but couldn't find what I was searching for, so I went to the store to see for myself. I was greeted by a woman who has been working at the Club for a long time, (years). Sadly, I don't know her name, but she always recognizes me no matter how long its been between my visits, (I don't shop at Sam's Club as much, because we're down to one child from six - they do grow up and leave the nest - yes, some were encouraged more than others). We chatted and caught up on what was going on in each others lives, all while she still greeted others and attended to her duties. Care and concern and she doesn't even no my name... As I wandered the deli/meat area in search of giant pre-made sandwiches an associate asked if I needed help and told me they hadn't made those giant sandwiches in at least two years... Taking the initiative to be helpful... Still, I returned a couple of days later to purchase fruits, cookie trays, and drinks; after all I was feeding the masses. I knew exactly what I needed and was on my mission when I got in line... This is when things went south fast and furious... Yes, I had a cart full of stuff, mainly beverages, but the young lady didn't have to take anything out. I had put the smaller items on the belt... There was NO greeting. No smile. No acknowledgment of my existence other a "gesture" for me to bring my cart around. Now, not because I'm old enough to be this young lady's mother, but the mere fact I was a customer should have garnered some type of positive response. This young lady scanned my purchases, which came to nearly $200.00, did it all without saying a word. No thank you. No, have a nice day - nothing. The "exit" greeter was better, but not by much. I thought, maybe it was because I had four cases of a variety of malted beverages and ciders. Surely, they couldn't have thought I was going to drink... I don't like such beverages... But should it matter? Did they think I was going to gorge myself on the giant cookie platter and cakes, and all the fruit too? Were they judging me and therefore thought I was unworthy of service or respect? God only knows what they were thinking, but thank God for the man in the "green" vest! I went back into the Club after I discovered that the young lady had charged me for four cases of water instead of just three. I also thought I was over charged for the gourmet jelly-beans, so I went to check the price on the shelf, BEFORE I sought attention from the service desk clerk. This is when I met the man in the "green" vest. He saw me before I saw him and he asked if there was a problem. I think he noticed me because I had my receipt in hand and I was without a cart in Sam's Club. Okay maybe it was the steam coming out of my nostrils too. But he was ATTENTIVE! He took the INITIATIVE. He was RESPECTFUL. I wasn't going to even say anything about the poor service of the young lady, but he persisted with making sure that I was satisfied, so I spoke of my treatment in the check out line and pointed out that I could indeed choose to shop at COSTCO... Just like the song says, I just want a "little R-E-S-P-E-C-T!" The man in the "green" vest got it. The entrance greeter got it. The associate by the deli got it. But it takes a team folks and if the last two team players don't do their part the customer ends up with a really bad taste. Sigh! I could say I received the service I did because the cashier was young, but the exit greeter was older - but maybe he just wasn't a warm fuzzy kind of guy. Still it doesn't take a lot to smile, to say hello, to say thank you... IT's about building a relationship with a customer to make them WANT to come back, because there is an established history. If customers leave with bad taste, no one is going to want to come back - it's not Ed Debevic's where people actually pay for rudeness and attitude. read more

I used to shop at this Sam's Club because I worked in Melrose Park. People are somewhat friendly. Depends on how busy they are. I tend to come here cause the cakes cannot be beat. They're always decorated perfectly as you've requested, I should know because I've ordered more than 10 cakes in the past couple of years and for the price and taste, it cannot be beat. I've gotten cakes at other Sam's Club stores and had mini disasters. Now, even when I'm not in the area, I make the attempt to go out here to get a last minute yummy cake or cupcake cake. I did have a not so great experience this last time. I'm not deduction points though because it was Christmas Eve and they just wanted to go home rather than go pull a package of smoke salmon for me. Whatevers, we can live without it. Didn't make or break the holiday, it's just food. Our Christmas was still amazing because the whole family is together. You do need to be a smart shopper though. For instance, unless you're buying Ibuprofen to share with 50 of your closest friends for the next two years, why would you buy a bottle with 5000000000000 pills? Know what you are looking for and what truly is a bargain. Our favorites are the diapers and formula for my nephew, bottled water for my parents, field greens and smoked salmon for me. Once I made a trip there in a snowstorm, the app had no "check-in" option, so I called the customer service, no answer. The rotisserie chicken is delicious! Which is what prompted me to order 20 for a party I was hosting. Unfortunately, I was never explained when the order was placed that I had to pick it up on time. Ruth at the meat dept informed me they didn't have a place to hold an order so large. She was quick to advise there were more chickens coming out. Christian provided me with my order. Both were quick to resolve my issue and put a smile on my face. As I was pushing the trolly away. I was stopped by Viviana who provided me with boxes to place the chicken in. I was very shocked and very impressed! The level of service they all provided me was excellent!! Also, LOVE your new app Scan n Go!!! I stuff the Christmas Stockings for my family every year. That's at least seven people (sometimes more if the spirit moves me to include an additional loved one). I usually go to Target and spend a little over $100 for everyone's stuff: toothbrushes, some car air-fresheners, candies, mini hand-sanitizers and more. This year I called myself being smart. I was like, "If I'm buying at least seven of everything, why not go to Sam's Club and buy in bulk for less?" One call to Mom got the two of us on a Sam's Club date to use her membership. I go to Sam's Club with my mom once or twice a year to buy a few items. I ALWAYS end up buying more than I planned and I ALWAYS end up paying more than I'd hoped. See, the truth of the matter is this (pay attention): *** BUYING IN BULK (does not always) = CHEAPER PRICES *** Take this toothpaste I bought a couple shopping trips ago. It came with three large tubes packaged together for price Ax3. I later checked out the prices at Jewel for the same toothpaste and would you believe it? The price was simply A! In other words, it would have cost the same price at Jewel had I purchased three tubes of that toothpaste. Sam's Club tricked me into buying three tubes at the same time because I thought that buying in bulk would get a deep discount. Alright, so back to my Christmas Stocking hunt. I bought 10 items in bulk to divide between stockings and four extra items (hey - you always pick up a few items for specific people or as a present for yourself!) and my register price was a little over $200! SAY WHAT? At Target I get more variety of items (e.g. 15 things vs. 10) and pay a little more than $100. This is an example of how it breaks down. I bought a package of 30 candy bars for $14.38 - almost $0.50 for each bar. Not bad, I thought. But now everyone is getting 4-5 bars whereas before I would have only bought one for each person and spent $4.50. I ended up spending $10 more than I would have and gave out WAY more candy than usual (those toothbrushes will really come in handy!). It is true that there are some really great deals on some items at Sam's Club. You just have to be really familiar with the regular price and (sometimes) do some quick math. Other than the prices, the store itself is okay. The isles are massive and the shelving is way tall. The store is clean and orderly. The employees seem happy but nowhere around to help find stuff. Nobody offered to help while we roamed the store for over an hour. At check out, there was a guy with a scan-gun who was helping people check their items out before they got to the register. Superb idea since they only had two registers open and long lines at each. One thing I dislike is not having any kind of bagging. Sometimes they'll give you boxes to keep your purchases together in the trunk, but no bags anywhere to be seen. It was a pain in the butt to move purchases from my cart to car item by item. read more

I just left this Sams store a little frustrated with the Store and with Cortez the manager on duty. Sams jewelry department has a promotion that offers $50 off any purchase from $400 to $999. I wanted to purchase my wife a set of earrings for $399 and Cortez refused to honor the promotion because it was a dollar short of the sale. What a bait and switch since I couldn't find a single item priced at $400. Cortez told me that "Sams would fire me" if he discounted the item. Shame on you Sam's for advertising items at a price point slightly higher than regular prices and then for putting a minority manager to run your Muti-million dollar store and not giving him the power to accommodate a price change. Food: The store was nice and clean. They had plenty of fresh food options (vegetables and fruit). Also, the meat selection was pretty good. Checkout: They only had two lanes open to check people out. I didn't want to wait so I used the self checkout. (Pretty easy and simple). Gas station: This is why the rating is bad. The line for the gas station was extremely long. I knew this would happen given the price. I used the pump and it turned out they had a skimming device on the gas station pump. Sheesh why are the lines always so long in this place? Despite long lines it seems as if I am in here every few days! The meat and produce are always so fresh and at a good price. What dont they have in this place? From food to paper goods to clothes, jewelry, electronics, outdoor patio tools, toys, you name it I have purchased it. Sometimes I think I spend too much because Im forced to get it in bulk but nevertheless Im hooked. I also get my gas here. I cannot recall the gas station attendees name, but he's always there and is extremely nice. I appreciate him speaking in the mornings or asking how my day went when I come in the evening. Im going to make it my point to get his name the next time I go. He walks around the pumps and directs the cars when they get busy and he does it all with a smile. I ordered a gender reveal cake from Sam's Club bakery in Melrose Park. I ordered it for my grandparents so they could cut into it sy the same time we did here in Minnesota.
