I've been a member for over 20 years. In store is not a problem. However, you can't get a phone call answered if you call. The phone just rings and rings. I tried every department to no avail. So frustrating. Thinking of just biting the bullet and go to BJ's or Costco. read more

Love and hate for Sam's club. The staff is great , I've never had a issue from walking in to cashing out. The little restaurant staff is alittle slow and seems to not know how to Delegate tasks and are all over the place trying to keep up with the high demand of customers. The curbside is a good option however carts are always in the way and it's hard to get to the area if you are coming from left side of the building instead of straight into the area. I shop here every month for years, at the same time I pay my credit statement. A few months ago I started using shop and go - loved it. I paid my credit statement at customer service. This month, Jan 12, I was told I had to pay my statement at a register instead of customer service. So why do scan and Go but wait in line anyway. I didn't use scan and go until I got to checkout. She scanned part of order then asked manager to finish scanning. The scan person at the door found numerous discrepancies. I had to go to customer service to go over entire purchase. Double charged for items and no charge on $60 worth of items. Check out was disastrous. She should have completed my order instead of taking me out of line to serve other customers. I'll pay monthly bill online and skip the monthly visits. It was good while it lasted. read more

Out of all the Sams clubs in my area, this is my go to. The parking lot is easy to navigate, you can enter from multiple different roads, and they have a gas station here too. This is my favorite because even when I come when it's busy, it doesn't feel that busy. The cafe has great cheap options for snacking, lunch or dinner. Sams club has a lot of the brands I enjoy and a nice selection to choose from. I believe they recently remodeled the place as the milk and some other dairy products are located within a huge walk in refrigerated room, the same to the vegetables. The only downside is the sushi goes quick and isn't restocked until the next day. I have pretty good luck getting toilet paper and paper towels from this location as they're such a hot commodity. Pro tip: if you don't want to wait in long check out lines, download the app and do scan and go! It really will make your life easier and you'll keep track of how much you're spending in real time rather than just guessing. However, when using make sure you have EVERYTHING cause once you check out you have to have a cashier scan your QR code before the app will let you make another purchase. If you try to open up the app on another device it will actually pull up your order to be scanned first and won't let you make any other purchases. The gas station is nice because not only does it have the pumps where you can pull the fuel line to the other side of the car, but also has an affordable car wash as well. What's even more convenient is the ability to pay for gas at the pump using the app. This is 1000% easier than having to dig out my cards, just scan, select fuel, and then pump. Afterwards you're shown the amount in the app and an emailed receipt is sent. read more

Such a large space and they can't design a decent fuel center. Card are backed out to the road. 2 lines feed into 6 and some pumps regularly go unused because nobody can get to them and sit in the line further exasperating the problem. read more

I feel like I'm being generous. I've called multiple times to check on availability of a product. I guess I should say I was there yesterday and the product was out. I waited 15 minutes for floor associate to even come up to the counter, I was in the tire area. I don't blame the worker, he was the only one there and was trying his best. He indicated a truck should arrive tomorrow (today) but they have been short on inventory, call to verify. I keep calling but nobody answers. I've called the tire center and the main desk. Ok,, what's better than buying your stuff on sale?? Buying them in BULK! Yes,, the cure for the all American, "Let's buy a year supply of this and that." Big giant boxes of excess, but it's always been the all american thing. We usually come here to buy the big bag of rice, big baggie of dog food, and cheap gas. And then there's the irresistibly good and cheap pizza on the way out. You almost can't say no whenever someone mentions it on the way out. That or their Polish sausage hotdogs. Anyways, the savings you get pretty much pays for the membership fee, specially if you do the whole family thing when you shop here. It definitely is an event as well, specially when you come for the weekend. Just walking around sampling things will fill you up by the time you're ready to dip. Anyways, I love shopping here and will keep shopping here because it's the right thing to do. Staff is great, customer service is great, and cheap gas is even better. read more

After the phone rang & rang someone who never even bothered to say One word switched my call to hold where finally after just short of 20 minutes (still on hold) I just hung up. I did an online order pick up for 5 to 6 pm Tuesday. Got there at 6pm and my order was not even processed. I received no text or call letting g me know my order would not be ready. Found this out by calling the 1800 number. Store didn't even answer. I get a text at 9pm telling me my order is ready they are closed. I work Wed could not pick up order , I get another text reminding me my order is ready , I text back tomorrow. 630 am I get another text which I was getting dressed to get my order that they cancel it. No answer at sams again to let them know I can co e get it now. This is horrible customer service, parking to pick up is horrible. I would go to bjs, kroger, ect. read more

Parking lot and landscaping is ALWAYS littered, unswept, dirty. Have the cart retrievers pick up trash as they get carts, contract Taylor city street-sweepers to clean the lots sometimes at night, power wash the entrance/exit cement several times a year. read more

The employees are friendly, the store is clean. It is always packed. I've tried to go at different days and times, no luck. It's hard to browse when you can barely move around. You would think they would make sure the store was laid out in a manner better equipped to deal with that, but no. The meat/produce section is a nightmare. The check out lines are into the aisles, so you can't really see the snack/seasonal sections. I would suggest not going to customer service unless you have time to wait, they will try to help you the best they can, but the line is just as long. read more

Do you like extra insect protein in your Danish? Employees, that lie to you? Then this might just be the best place for a masochist to visit. Otherwise, you may want to run away from this store at all costs. Be warned the employees will lie to you about signing up for their plus membership. I was told I could come in anytime to redeem my plus membership rebate, only to find out it had expired. Costco, by comparison, mails your rebate to you, no worry about no longer being able to claim it. On the positive side, they do add extra protein to their baked goods, such as flies. read more

Shop this store for home, business and a high school concession stand. Their proces are higher than I'd prefer, but that's what I'm finding at every store I shop! (Call me cheap? Lol) Having shopped here since this location opened, sure you find days the store is busier than other days, but yout have to expect weekends to havemore shoppers than weekdays. Its never made me turn around & shop elsewhere. I have never found a rude or unhelpful employee. I like Sams in general, but this one their Cafè is the worst. I tend to go after work, which they close at 7:00, however after 5:00 they no longer have any food or deserts. Just the fountain pop pretty much. They are constantly out of berries for the sundaes, as they stop pulling stuff for them at like 3:00 and don't want to pull more for later customers. I just think if they want to start shutting down at 5:00 then they should close at 5:00 not 7:00. read more

Though every big box store gives me that gross feeling, this really tops it. I regularly shop here for work, and have learned the ins and outs of the store. I am glad I am not one of those people who needs to buy massive amounts of processed food in bulk, so I am able to finish shopping quickly. The cashiers are nice, but speed is not their forte. They usually have a problem dealing with checks - there is at least one manager trying to deal with a check on top of the cashier. Samples would be great, if there was ever anything non-gimmicky that was also tasty. I do have to give them props for their pizza. It's a good price and the slices are very satisfying. read more

I have been to this club 3x since the pandemic hit Michigan in March. I have never seen any curbside pick up despite me attempting it once. Instead I had to go inside and wait for an associate to acknowledge I was there as the person behind me was less than 6 ft away. They do not require customers to wear masks despite an executive order by the Governor in April saying people had to wear them in enclosed spaces e.g. stores. Walmart and Target enforce this, Sam's Club Southgate does not. Nor do they enforce distancing like their website says they do. Finally, many people bring multiple family members into the club which makes distancing even more of a challenge. When I contacted Sam's to express my concern, the person responded they follow CDC guidelines. I thought executive orders by Governors superseded CDC guidelines. That's why NY is more restrictive than ND. read more

They offer flu shots at this location during flu season. For prescriptions though call ahead and let them know you're coming or you'll be standing around waiting. They also seem to not carry some children meds which causes a day delay in getting the little one the meds to get her to recovery. read more

they never have things stocked and always avoid trying to help people I went 3 days in a row to try to see and go weekly and they have the stock as I see it but its not placed for people. also have bought things in bulk and seems to be I usually get half of my product usually drinks where they have Ben smashed or empty. I think it's funny I can talk to the cell phone sales people easily and they are more helpful then the actual staff. Also they should be able to share if You call or use the app instead of wasting peoples time and gas. read more

Remember Sams is about the cheapest gas there is right now. The line will be long and if you have no patience. Go somewhere else and pay the higher price. They don't set the price or the line lengths. They are at least offering a cheaper price then anyone next to the other clubs. Thank God my membership here was free. This actual location is ridiculously packed at all times. Not only is it packed, but it's packed full of absolutely rude people. If you thought Walmart was full of "characters," it doesn't even touch this location. I've been in this store twice and never once heard "excuse me." People literally just plow past you, as if you're not even there, and it doesn't matter if your infant son is sitting in the cart. You can hardly walk down the aisles between all of the people congregating in the middle of them and the staff stocking. It is an atrocious shopping experience. Their customer service sucks too, but that should come as no surprise to anyone. I waited in line for almost 30 minutes just to get my membership (with two people working the counter, with the manager standing right there filling out some binder). This place does not staff to keep up with the customers, at all. I also ordered something on online, then cancelled my order within the hour. I called the 1-800 number to make sure it was cancelled, the guy said it was. Not even an hour later, I was billed for it, so I called back. The woman told me it didn't show it was ever cancelled and the guy hadn't taken any notes, so I could be refunded, but she'd have to forward it to another department and I'd get a call in 2-3 days about the issue. No one ever called me back and I gave up on the issue because I didn't even want to deal with this company anymore. Ridiculous. read more

I've been shopping at Sam's Club for the upward of five years. I go for the prices and they have a decent selection of things that I consume on a daily basis. The only downside of this establishment is that it gets VERY crowded on the weekends and you find yourself waiting in the check-out line for extended periods of time waiting for the family of ten to purchase their 100 LBS of popcorn and such. This place is horrific to shop at, I am not just talking about the long lines and waiting because that's normal for any Sam's club. Specifically their customer service is terrible. I have been there about 5 times since having our membership and every time there is an issue. Most recently, we got a membership and were promised a $45 gift card with membership. This was never emailed to us and the lady at the service desk said "we don't give gift cards for that you just need to wait for an email it takes 4-6 weeks"..well it has been at least 3 months so safe to say that isn't coming. Also, we were waiting in line to pay when an employee came up and turned the machine on to restart it, but did not say a word to us and just left us standing there waiting to check out after we had been in line for 30 mins prior and I had to go ask her how long it would take and she told us "it would be a few minutes". At least 20 mins later the machine was still not fully restarted. I remembered a friend of mine said you can check out on the Sam's club app. So my fiancé downloaded the Sam's club app (while still waiting for said machine to restart) and we checked out on the app. If you get a membership there, which I don't recommend, highly suggest checking out on the app so you don't have to deal with these people. read more

Sam's Club is okay. My husband and I have been members for over 20 years. I would give five stars, but I don't for following reasons: First, it seems that this warehouse club allows anyone to join now, because it gets so crowded Friday-Sunday, my husband decided to pay for the upgrade to his membership so we can shop ahead of the crowds. So now we have to pay $100 a year to shop in peace and quiet. Second, as a handicapped person, Sam's Club gets a D- from me, first because their motorized carts are not always ALL available. Yes, I need only one for myself, and I can get a motorized cart NOW that my husband and I can shop at 7 a.m. BUT, any other time of the day, the carts are either not kept charged OR a few are broken and out of commission. This is horrible, given that Sam's Club makes so much money and could afford to fix their carts. Contrast this to Meijer stores--their carts are maintained by maintenance men and the staff keeps the motorized carts charged.. Also, Walmart Corp. gets an E from me, because they re-configured the parking lot at Southgate, and eliminated a number of handicapped parking spaces. Product selection is okay, but it irritates my husband that he is forced to walk through the store to look for items that moved from a location we got 'used' to--this is an old marketing trick--make the customer hunt for what they want and they'll impulse buy. Outside of our early shopping hours, the lines are long and often are slow. This location used to have employees going through the lines and scanning people's carts so that when they reached the cashier, all the cashier had to do was ring up the order and take payment. They've seemed to stop that, however, which is a shame. Another reason we pay extra to shop early. Beware that the clothing for the most part is cheap and will shrink, BUT my husband buys all his blue jeans here and they are durable, don't shrink, and he loves them. I cannot buy my clothing here, as Plus sizes are not generally carried--lady shoppers may find an occasional shirt that is Plus size, but that's about it. read more

I went to the Southgate location today and I will never go back there again. I have had membership at Sam's club for years, but I will not be renewing it. I bought 2 bottles of Hennessy at the club. The price was $37.98 for 750ml bottle. I went to cash out, and the price was $50 at the register. One of the employees, Kayla went to check the price. She came back after a while, and she told me that there was no sign for Hennessy and that someone must have taken it. I know that she took it, because there was no way that that was the only sign missing, only 5 minutes after I saw it on the shelf. There were 10 other bottles of Hennessy there, so it wasn't like I got the last ones or something. The club wouldn't do anything about it and were really rude about it. This is why a lot of their emotions are being laid off, and it is unfortunate that we receive such horrible customer service. read more

Great store, selection and prices. I love going to Sam's Club. I try to avoid it on the weekend because of the crowds and craziness, but the waits in line are still quick, even on the weekends. I love them even more after discovering that, as a business member, I can order online, they get the order together for me, and I simply show up and pick it up! That totally rocks. Employees are always very friendly and helpful, and everyone I know love the free samples they give out around the store, even though I avoid that part of the experience. read more
