had a very disappointing experience at the Tire Center. On December 8th, I came in for a tire repair and was told the tire could not be fixed and needed to be replaced. The Tire Center ordered the replacement tire themselves while they had my vehicle and tire, and scheduled an installation appointment. When I returned for the appointment, I received a call about 10 minutes after dropping off my car saying the wrong tire size was ordered, and that I supposedly gave the wrong information -- which is not accurate, as I did not order the tire. After that, I was told they could not even get the correct tire once they tried to reorder it. I asked to speak with a manager and was told I would receive two gift cards for the inconvenience. When I arrived to pick up my vehicle, no one knew anything about that conversation. An employee went to find a manager, but after waiting several minutes while it was snowing -- and with my car on a spare tire -- I could not safely continue waiting. I was then told they would need to call another manager, the same one who previously mentioned "gas money or a gift card." The entire situation was unprofessional and poorly communicated, with no accountability and no management follow-up. I am not looking to leave Sam's Club or switch clubs, but this experience needs to be handled much better. read more

This is in reference to the in-store restaurant. Today I waited in line for 16 minutes to order a few items. Eventually I was up to order and Bunny, the employee was completely rude. Not only was she rude to me but an associate who asked for help as well (he asked for a roll of register tape-she looked at him and said "can't you see I'm busy-go find someone else to help"). As I received my food I went to get a drink and the service station was a complete mess. If they can't keep tables and the drink stations clean, I hate to think how filthy it is where the food is kept. read more

Wonderful Customer Service at the York, PA store. Young lady named Tanayah was so helpful getting a problem with my account solved. She fixed my transaction and solved my problem. I have a membership. Paid for it got the card. Haven't used it in a few months ok no big deal. I paid for the year. They said my card is in active. And I go to membership desk. They say I have no account in my name. I give my ID, phone number, address all on my ID, email address. Old address and phone number nothing. Like my account was deleted. She asked me where I got this card from? I said the only place you can get it from here. It's not like I went to the local gas station and bought it. I bought and paid for it here. You can definitely tell that Sam's Club and Walmart are hatched from the same bad egg. The York, PA location has a broken oven in their cafe. Instead of asking customers to wait about 15 minutes for an entire pie ($8.98) to cook, they are charging customers $2.50 PER SLICE to make a whole pie, out of the already cooked pies they had in their warming display! That would make.it.nearly $20 for an entire pizza. We talked to the manager and the customer service reps about it, as we were watching people buy multiple pies and being cheated out of their money. The manager argued and said that it was impossible to cook a whole pie and sell it to us (as we wanted to buy one), even though they were clearly cooking two pies at a time in less than 30 minutes, to sell them per slice from their case to make a "whole" pie. They told us they could sell us the whole case of slices, which would screw with the people in line behind us that were waiting for a single slice. But not a pie, that I was willing to wait for. We used self checkout for the first time, didn't go so smoothly with bananas and pomegranates. No one around to help so we improvised to pay money for them and get home. Got harassed by the door lady because I chose normal bananas vs organic, didn't even notice. I just used the lookup screens log, organic didn't even exist. Then we were told we couldn't just get 2 pomegranates we needed to get an entire box...uhhh what? We got them before just fine. The experience was just awful for me having to do their job for them via self scan, them not having options correctly on it and then being yelled at for doing it wrong, for a whooping break even or 1 dollar difference. Even though Sam's Club is a step child of Wal-Mart, they have a better face than Wal-Mart. They seem to cater to lower middle to middle class folks with their selections. Not too many high-end items here that you might find at Costco or simular. Though they do have a good electronics selection. They also have a Photo Center and Tire Maintenance. Expect long waits for the tire maintenance, I would even pla on dropping off your car and picking up later. They work on a first come first serve basis. read more

Hanover PA Sam's Club- Don't think you will get any service after you buy their tires. After going there and waiting over 10 minutes at the tire counter I left. I called the next day and it took twice to get through and when I asked when I could get my tires balanced and rotated I was told it would take over 2 weeks to get an appointment. My issue is that I drive by there often enough to know they are not that busy, and even yesterday while waiting at the counter there was only one car in the bay. By chance went to the same Sam's Club in less then an hour after being told it would take more then 2 weeks to get my tires balanced and rotated and there was 1 car in the bay and 1 parked on the side of where the service bays were. NO excuse for the ridicules time given me so I am standing by my statement above. Unacceptable customer service, I am sure if I were buying the tires I would have been right in. read more

I have always had good experiences at the York store. The self checkout is convenient, cashiers get you out quickly, snack bar has fresh and hot food for cheap and I am able to get what I need and go. I am not a fan of this Sam's Club. It seems that they have some training issues with their staff. The counter help seems to struggle to know how to ring up items i.e. a Playstation 4. It would seem to make sense to scan the UPC code to ring it up but that doesn't make sense to them, or at least the person I was dealing with. It took 20 minutes to ring up a game system plus 1 game, nothing else. If you can't handle ringing that up, how do you manage to keep the doors open? read more

Seafood section at Sam's Club in York Pennsylvania seafood has thawed out .. I brought it to the attention of an associate brought it to the attention of another associate who said that's normally what it does thaw cycle as he was shaking his head at her like she was stupid .. way beyond a thaw cycle ! It is not normal for seafood to be thawed out and re frozen . I am concerned they will refreeze this and sell it to Customers .. Beyond horrible customer service at this location. My husband and I have been members for over six years. We have enjoyed being members, but will not be renewing. We are constantly accosted by the front door person, Phyllis. She is singlehandedly the reason we will not be renewing. I've talked to her supervisor on more than one occasion and was even issued a gift card after she followed me and my toddler through the store, harassing us along the way. The absolute icing on the cake was when my husband went in last weekend and she started again. On the same passion that Phyllis followed me through the store, the front end clerks couldn't be bothered to acknowledge my presence or correct an error on my receipt. They talked amongst themselves as if I was invisible. Honestly, despite being comfortable at Sam's, we joined BJ's this past weekend. I think anyone would be better there than Sam's. Shame on you, Sam's. Update: I spoke to the membership manager, Hailey, today. She completely blew off my concerns and repeatedly informed me that harassing customers is evidently part of Phyllis' job since that's apparently all she is doing while following me through the store and upsetting my child and my family. I should not be paying to be harassed by the staff of an establishment such as this and it is obvious that the issue goes straight to the top as management could not care any less. read more

Where to start. I have used Sams club optical for years. The Doctor giving the exams is very through and I have recommended him to many others and they have been satisfied. Get the exam and leave. Do not buy the glasses. I did buy the glasses. Could not wear them. Back 4 or more times, fix this, fix that. Ask for refund, Deanna, manager, said Sams does not offer refunds, thats how we keep the cost down. Really, went to store manager, not true, took me over and gave me a refund. Jan, 2014 exam, charge back to credit card Mar/2014. Still have not recd charge back to insurance company. Everytime I call I am given a new 6 week deadline. No need to go into the lies, miscommunication, misdirection I have received. It is now 7 months since I had my exam and I still have not seen a refund. Cannot purchase new glasses without charge back. In speaking to another family member, found out they had the same experience. Do not purchase glasses from Sams club unless you want months of grief. Horrible experience at York store buying tires. Ordered tires & got the call that they were in. Was told that I should be there by 6PM if I wanted them installed that evening. Arrived at 5:30pm & was told that they weren't taking any more customers. Installer all but called me a liar, insisting he took the earlier call & didn't say that (he later apologized after realizing someone else spoke with me)! I elevated the matter to the manager who agreed to take in my vehicle. The installer charged me the wrong price & has me stand in the long customer service line for a refund so he can charge me again, the correct price. I'm told I can't get a copy of the chargeback receipt but not to worry, my card won't be charged (It was charged both times)! What a fiasco! Three hours later I drive away and my car drives like brand new again. I wake up in the morning to go to work & I have a flat tire! I took the car to the Harrisburg store & my experience was 180 degrees better. They went above & beyond to fix the tire problem, reset my tire warning light & ensure I wouldn't have any problems on my pending out-of-state trip. Side note; The York store manager was helpful, despite my problems, & even thanked me for my military service (He probably saw my decal on the car). read more
