I love this place. I'd give it a 10/10 if I could. What I ordered : spanakopita, spicy lamb gyro, fruit kebab. The amount of lamb they put on their gyro always impresses me. It's huge and I almost always have leftovers. The spanakopita is the best that I have had in Charleston. I know, bold statement but try it out. The fruit kebab, well it's fruit on a stick and you're probably overpaying for it but when you want a little bit of fruit instead of french fries it's perfect. read more

I love Greek food but every restaurant I like closes down I tried pitashio baklava for the first time. It was awesome. It was the first baklava I ever liked. I tried original baklava and other restaurants and they were too hard and gooey They have lots of choices and you can pick each item through a deli glass. I hope everyone tries them out read more

This place used to be so much better, but it's gone downhill. the food is just bland. i ordered a beef gyro and it's so packed full, it's sloppy and hard to even enjoy eating it. You also have to pay extra for feta and hummus....on a gyro....at a Mediterranean restaurant.... lol The sides that are served hot, are microwave, and just chewy. I hate leaving bad reviews but I just spent $20 on dinner for one, on food that was not worth that. read more

This was my first time at Ali Baba, and I will definitely be back soon! We ordered takeout and drove over to Pirate Park to enjoy the beautiful weather while eating. The cashier was friendly, asked all the right questions, and ensured we had everything we needed before we left. The dining are was large, quiet, and mostly empty- next time we'll plan on dining in. The counter case was full of all kinds of sides, and we wished we could try it all. Our food was wonderful. I got the chicken kebab with grilled vegetables and Moroccan couscous, and loved every bite - but especially that couscous! The serving size was impressive for the price. The good- they offer a lot of healthy options especially for vegetarian or gluten free meals. Desserts are yummy. The gyro with tzatziki is consistently good. Service and portions are inconsistent. Both of us had chicken dishes which were both dry and lifeless. The spark at this place is gone, and they need new management and new staff. Things just aren't kept clean like they should be, and two of the doors slam hard when they close. Very disconcerting. They've been that way for months. Today when I asked if they fixed the doors yet, the looked at me and said soon..... Soon doesn't cut it. Get a screwdriver and adjust the darn doors!!!! read more

Did a delivery order via DoorDash. I had a gyro platter, my kid got a gyro sandwich, and we had baklava and falafel to share. The falafel was a bit soggy, not crispy at all and was extremely salty, I can't remember ever having falafel that salty and I love salt. The gyro sandwich was just drenched in tzatziki sauce, you literally couldn't see the meat and veggies under it. My gyro platter was decent, not amazing. The hummus had little character and the pita was not proper pita, it was very doughy like it was either undercooked or filled with chemicals and dough conditioners to make it more palatable to a US palate, either way, I wasn't a fan. The baklava was not great either. Long story short, it scratched my itch for Mediterranean food for sure, and pricing would probably be OK if I didn't pay the DoorDash tax, but I can't see myself eating here again either. We were visiting the area for a concert and were initially looking for the brewery in that area, but was unsuccessful and we ran out of time! No worries there! Ali Baba was a much better choice. Our overall experience was fantastic! The food arrived quickly and the portion sizes were huge! I had the lamb gyro and cucumber salad, and they were both packed full of flavor and very satisfying! First time here. Lots of options to choose from. They have the most complete Mediterranean collection of side dishes I've ever seen in Charleston. But here's the amazing inside scoop: their portion sizes are super generous, massive, and very fulfilling....IF you can finish! When I worked in the area I lunched here with friends regularly. I enjoy the variety of traditional Mediterranean side dishes and hummus selections. I like the soft warm pita bread and thick tzatziki as well. I ordered the chicken gyro on my most recent visit and it was very good. The portion size was pretty good and it was about 8.99 before tax. They offer platters that are slightly more expensive but come with a side dish option. It took a long time for someone to take my order, but once they did, everything moved along pretty quickly. Overall I enjoy the flavor and variety of foods at Alibaba and I would return. read more

Ali Baba is one of my favorite places to eat. I've been going there for several years and they have been very consistent on quality and portions. On this visit, I enjoyed the Turkish Donor, which was served hot with a crisp Greek Salad on the side. It's a great choice if you like meaty combination with a lot of flavor rolled up in a tortilla. When you enter Ali Baba, you'll be greeted by a large clear cases of freshly prepare salads, hummus, sandwiches, and desserts. There is usually a large selection to choose from and you'll be able to make choices based on your current eating habits. Make sure to ask plenty of questions as there is a lot to choose from and the staff should be able to give you a good insight into each item. Upon entering the main dinning room there is small food service bar filled with seasoned olives, feta cheese, pickles, Tzatziki Sauce, and a few other options that seem to rotate from time to time. This little food bar is one of my favorite things about Ali Baba because I can get more sauce or olives as I eat my meal. Make sure to start out with a small portion as there are some robust flavors and spices waiting for you to try them. Guten Appetit! read more

Great tasting food, great selection and variety of food, nice ambiance, a little slow on service (for dine in) but overall great experience. The food was great. I got the chicken souvlaki and it was a huge portion. I was full for like 6 hours after I finished it. The pita was very good. They also have a deli counter with like 1000 "sides" to choose from and they all look so tasty. I want to try them all. My friend got the sampler of 3 sides and loved it. Her parents got the pita with falafel and said it was great. The atmosphere resembles a Panera- huge casual indoor and outdoor seating area with wifi. I see some people hanging out here with their laptop for hours. I'd definitely study and snack here. It did take a while for us to get our food (we dined in and got a table number) but it seems that everyone who got carry out was in and out pretty quickly. The staff wasn't cold but they weren't super friendly either. I wouldn't say it was bad service but it wasn't great. Overall, aside from the service being a little slow, really great experience. I had to pick up a few things next door at Publix and wanted to pick something up for dinner to take home. The place is bigger than I thought walking in. There's the counter area where you order and some seating against the window at a bar. Perfect for a solo lunch or with a friend. Then off to the side there's a full dining area with tables. It was late so I was the only one in there. The staff were all friendly and helpful in making my decision. I asked about the fatayers and can't wait to try one next time after I got the description. They suggested calling those in ahead because the take a while. I placed my to go order and was out of there in about 15 mins with two entrees, a container of hummus, and some extra pita. I could tell already that this bag was heavy and confirmed when I got home that the portions are huge. I had the gyro platter that came stacked with meat, hummus, pita, and spicy feta (which was subbed for tabouli since they ran out). I would order it again that way because the feta was a great side. The meat was very tender and spiced perfectly, and the hummus was better than most. I got a side container of hummus for leftover with calamata olives in it and actually like the plain one better. Also, you can get extra pita for $1/pita. I had just bought some next door at Publix but I couldn't resist these fresh ones and they were some of the best pita bread I've ever had. When you're looking for food that's fast, but not fast food, look no further than Ali Baba on DI. read more

I've seen Ali Baba included on that interstate sign that tells folks what food options are available at the next exit and always assumed that the restaurant was like a random Mediterranean fast food spot; therefore, I never thought to visit because Mediterranean McDonald's didn't sound like my kinda place to eat. Obviously, I had the wrong idea. I finally checked out Ali Baba after my mom recommended it. And since I was looking for lunch on Daniel Island, it seemed like the best option. Luckily for me, I actually really enjoyed my meal. It took a lil while for my plate to come out, but it was worth the wait. The grilled chicken was tender and flavorful. I love a good humus. And the tabouli was made with fresh ingredients. My pita was warm and the perfect accent. Needless to say, I'll be visiting more often. We made an impromptu stop for a Saturday lunch here before an event at the tennis complex across the street and found it nearly empty. The interior had a lived-in vibe and could use a facelift. However the food made up for the dated atmosphere. My wife and I had gyros (she had chicken and I had lamb) with Greek lemon chicken soup. The gyros had some of the best Tzatziki sauce I've ever had--perfectly balanced with a creamy, almost whipped texture. Both gyros were also stuffed with 4-5 big slices of tasty gyro meat, with the lamb beating the chicken in my opinion. Next time we're going to sample some of the abundant sides Ali Baba had to offer. The lamb was definitely overcooked and didn't have a lot of flavor. The spicy hummus wasn't great, whatever they used to spice it up had an after taste.
