I have taken some of my work heels to add heel clips or the scuff pieces on the bottom of the shoe for where I wear down my shoes most, it's been a while since I haven taken any shoes lately. I know that he won't replace a heel, have to take them elsewhere if the whole heel needs to be replaced at all. It's a small shop on 9 mile, 2 buildings down from the Blue Nile and down the street from western market. The heel clips are great since I tend to wear down one side of my heels more than the other. I always thought I walked straight but I must favor a leg and foot more. The owner is nice, he has always checked me in and checked me out. They are reasonably priced and efficient to work with too. The owner will try to get them done as soon as possible. read more

On the first visit I brought them a 15yr-old pair of mountain boots for reconditioning and an old Detroit DSR hat for dying and polishing. Both were done in just a few hours. Excellent results. They did a phenomenal job on my boots and the turnaround time was very very quick. I needed to have a zipper repaired as well as some elastic added to my tall boots. I was charged $130 to get this done, which seemed a little expensive - but I am not an expert on the matter. I would definitely return. read more

One of my black Nike Air sneakers separated from the sole right behind the ball of the toe. Mr. Said said it wasn't repairable except by a patch applied to the outside. So I was a iittle apprehensive about how it would look. But it looks fantastic! I don't think anyone would assume it was a patch. It looks more like part of the design. My office has a business casual dress code, so I don't wear my "dress up" clothes as often as I used to. Thus, when I got my things together for a recent funeral, not only did my suit need to be dry cleaned, I also needed to replace the heels on my black dress shoes, since holes had been worn in both. I found this place on google maps, and none of the phone numbers listed worked. So, I decided to drive by to see their hours. When I walked up to the storefront, a woman walking by said that she thought it was not a legitimate business, and that it was a front for something. I had my suspicions, but it looked like a nice place, and I needed my shoes fixed, so I decided to take a chance. I sent someone to take my shoes in for me the next day while I was at work. When I came home, both heels and soles had been replaced for only $18. So, illegitimate front organization or not, I will be using them again if I have shoe repair needs in the future. read more

Great little shop. I took a pair of steel-toed work boots in to have the soles re-glued and a few popped seams repaired. He gave me a good price and told me it would be done in a week. Came back six days later and it was done with very good good quality work in spite of the challenging nature of the seam repair (right next to the steel toe). Also helps that Said is a funny guy and the vintage equipment is super cool. read more

Took my work boots in to get the soles re-glued and to fix some minor scuffs at 2pm on a Saturday and spoke to Mike who I believe is the owner and also a super nice guy, and after talking for a couple minutes he tells me I should come back the same day at 5pm and they'd be ready, all for just $40. It's been a couple days now and the repairs on the boots are holding up phenomenally and they look and feel almost brand new again. The only reason why I give him two stars is that the quality of his repair work was a little lower than I am used to. The heel replacement didn't fit exactly with my heel. I got some boots repaired here. Said did a pretty good job with the repair but it took him a long time. When I took the shoes in, he told me it would take a week. When I went back 10 days later, he had totally forgotten about my shoes and hadn't done them. He told me to come back the next day but I was out of town and wasn't able to go until 2 weeks later. When I got back, my shoes were done. And they've held up pretty well. But it was annoying that he had forgotten about them. read more

This family-owned business has operated in Ferndale for decades, and I love supporting local places. The owners are so friendly and did a wonderful job replacing the heels on my boots, for a reasonable price. They polished them up too and they look great for fall. They also were honest with me about another pair of shoes I had brought in, saying they couldn't repair a bad scuff because it was vinyl, not leather. But the gentleman did take the shoes to the back real quick and put a bit of polish on them to cover the scuff, so they're definitely more wearable. No charge for this! So nice of him, and I will definitely be going back for future repairs. read more

Does not stand behind his work. I had some simple stitching on a shoe done, and it was not cheap. around $13. About 60 days later, it unraveled, I took it back, thinking he would back up his work. But I was wrong. He charged me to re-do the stitching. He denied that he had done the original repair and called me a liar. I asked him if he guarantees his work, He said, he would if I bring something back in 2 or 3 days. He offended me by calling me a liar, and he doesn't back up his work. And then didn't even offer me a refund -- since he requires payment prior to providing services... and now I know why. Took them to another place that fixed his work. I drop off a pair of boots on Saturday to have elastic put it on the top. When I got there I was the only one in the store but a minute or two later to guys walk in. The owner then asks me if I can wait a minute and starts talking to these guys like I'm not even there. That was the first problem and I should have left right then but he is right at the corner of where I live and I need the boots done. I left the boots with him and asked to pick them up on Monday, but he is closed so he said Wednesday. I went back at 5:45pm on Wednesday and he hadn't even touched the boots, they were still sitting in the same spot he put them in when I was there on Saturday. He went ahead and finished the boots while I was there but OMG my 10 year old could have done a better job. They were so bad I took them to another shoe place and had them refinished.
