I would eat here every day if I could! Problem is I live 4 hours away. This was the first Thai place I ever ate at about 6 years ago. When I lived in Dallas I would go to Samui at LEAST 3 times a month. Why, you ask? Four words: Shrimp and Chicken Basil. I'm salivating just thinking about it and I'm full on some sub par Mexican food from Gloria's (see review). Their Tom Yum and Tom Kha soups are also the best I've ever had. To complement their delicious food, the service is top notch. This is a family owned and operated restaurant that treats you like family. It isn't a chain either, so they have a lot of flexibility. There are 2 locations, one in Plano and one in Allen. The food is on point at both. The Allen location is a lot smaller with more of a cozy feel. For the best experience, sit at the bar and chat up one of the tenders. Most are from Thailand and have family there, so they have stories for days. Since I moved to Austin 4 months ago I have been on the hunt for some Thai food that rivals Samui.I have visited all of the highest rated joints and nobody has come even CLOSE. My Dallas friends, enjoy what you have. Be thankful for the greatness of Samui Thai. These folks know what they are doing! I'm a big fan of their Red curry fried rice, Pad Thai and Sticky rice with Mango.

Been here way too many times and the quality, taste and consistency of their food has since remain the same. Ambiance is great for any occasion (date, team lunch, or even when you're flying solo). The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because they really need to work on their service timings. The servers take forever to come back to your table for beverage refills and it takes them at least 15 minutes to bring the tab. I had the garden chicken. It was overcooked and flavorless. The whole dish lacked flavor. I also had the fried rice. It was just OK, needed lots of seasoning and more veggies. For the price, it was pretty disappointing. read more

I love this place and it's family run/ family fun atmosphere. Food is consistent and tasty. The ONLY thing I wish for is that the outdoor space be transformed into the coolest patio. Food usually fantastic. The last 3 times we had to return the beef entree due to the meat being rotten or spoiled. Tasted funny and smells funny. They are real nice to remake order differently. Waitress is always a delight. Very courteous and polite, respectful and conscientious to our needs. Never have an empty drink, etc. Unfortunately, my youngest son has come down with either rotavirus, salmonella, E Coli or food poisoning the same 3 times. At first, we thought it was coincidence but now it's 3 out-of-3, it's for sure. I also was ill from food or ice? Bad stomach cramps and loss appetite, followed by watery diarrhea. Just like him all three times. Perhaps the tables are not sanitary or the high chairs are riddled with germs and not disinfected properly. Silverware handling? Kitchen knife contaminated while using on mixed food items? Another possibility could be the ice? If the ice bins or scoops are not sanitized they can harvest germs or viruses. Anyways, otherwise a very respectable place but cannot tolerate any more illnesses such as these. :( Hopeful for improved sanitation. read more

Really good Pad-Thai for the price. They even do take-out. I miss this place. Use to be a weekend favorite. Very fresh food.

I like how I can walk here from my residence and order take out or dine in. I have ordered Pudt Thai shrimp and tofu on many occasions and overall taste is average. Nothing that stands out from the many Thai restaurants I've tried. Also when you enter the establishment sometimes there isn't a host to greet you and ending up looking for someone that can help you. read more

Food: The chicken fried rice was so delicious.. This is rice where the flavor is so great that you don't need soy sauce. I'm very picky about fried rice but enjoyed this.. Some of the best Thai food in both Dallas and Collin County. We L-O-V-E this place for date night. Great service. Great Thai cuisine. The Pad Thai, the pad kee mow, the curry chicken in coconut cream sauce...all amazing. Their level of heat is spot on as ordered. I probably dine here 4 times a month...I love it! I order the chicken bah-mee noodles EVERYTIME. I ordered a different dish one time with curry in it and it turned my rubberbands in my braces neon green! Darn braces! My family and I (3 of us) can dine here for about $34 total. Nota bad price and the food is ALWAYS great! The service is amazing....Van, our regular waitress is the sweetest person I have ever met. She remebered us after the very first time we dined there. Worst customer service ever. Food is mediocre. We went there with some friends visiting us from east coast on Thursday evening. The restaurant was probably on 50% capacity. Being Thai food lover, we knew what we will order. The waitress didn't let us make changes to order and keep saying her version of the dishes. After back and forth of explaining what we want to order, finally we got our order placed. The food was mediocre and part of the reason is the service. If you ask for sauces or even water refill, you will have twait for good 10 or more minutes. After finishing the dinner, we asked for the check and it took her 20 more mins to bring the check. We paid and left. BUT... the waitress followed us, saying why we tip her only 15%... say what??? We were only 4 people. Our bill was $55 and we gave $64 total. She followed us outside in the parking and said she needs bus ticket money and need to pay bills. She needs at least 20% tip. We were extremely shocked by this behavior and just gave her $10 extra bucks. We were not sure if the restaurant owner to blame for not paying their employees enough so that they don't run after customers or her. read more

Love this place! Bags of Gold always deliciously crunch with that yummy sauce! The wrapped shrimp flaky goodness. I always order the pad see lew with chicken or shrimp; my husband loves all the curry dishes to pad kee mow. The staff is always nice, courteous, quick and accurate. If calling in an order if it was a mistake on the order due to shotty cell phone reception they quickly correct the order with kindness. I've been going here for years! I decided to leave a review because I told my husband how good Samui has been to us since 2010; in all our five years of eating here...we deviated off. We suffered such rude treatment at Zense in Irving; I was so happy to drive back across town to eat at our favorite place...Samui!
