I wanted something different for dinner and stumbled upon Zaap Kitchen during my search, it looked promising so I decided to check it out. I ordered the chicken pad thai (spicy) and the Zaap combo set opting for the Zaap crispy wings with sticky rice. Located off the toll , Zaap is small inside so when it gets busy seems to be a more grab and go spot. I ordered online which was seamless and upon my arrival my food was ready and I was on my way. Everything looked good and was well packaged when I got home, I was genuinely excited to try. I made the perfect plate of pad thai, a couple wings, rice and papaya salad. The wing combo meal was my favorite. The wings were fresh, seasoned so well and I loved the garlic pieces/flakes on the wings, wished they added more honestly. The only critique is I wished the wings were actually crispy, they were kinda soft but I'd still get them again. Misses for me unfortunately was the chicken pad thai and papaya salad. I've never had pad thai before so I didn't really know what to expect but I didn't care for it overall. My biggest issue was the texture of the noodles and it was somewhat bland, the chili oil I got did help some but between the noodle texture, sparse chicken and it being lightly sauced, I wasn't a fan. Papaya salad again is new for me and just wasn't my thing, it was spiced to my specification but nothing about the flavor appealed to me sadly and I really wanted to enjoy it. I will say, portion sizes of everything was great, all my food was piping hot and customer service was good so I would come back for the wings and just try something else out. read more

I was in town with come coworkers - and in need of a quick lunch close to the office. Based on a quick Yelp search that was sorted by rating, ZAAP came up near the top. After browsing the food pics, I knew some decisions would have to be made. We all ordered different things. I LOVED everything that I had. The food was full of flavor - it was hot since it was made to order -- and it tasted so good l, I kept eating after I was full. It was worth the extra treadmill time! The staff were very friendly and open to giving suggestions. And the food came out pretty quick which is great when the quality is that high. The place is in a strip center and is small. I've been yelping for some papaya salad around me then this place pop up. I'm so glad they have a combo meal so I don't have to get a whole order of the salad. The combo consists of 5 huge! crispy garlic wings, papaya salad (level of spice to your liking) and a choice of jasmine or sticky rice. The food came out hot and fresh. I'd call this place a hidden gem--the quality of the food deserves far more attention. The basil dish, fried rice, and curry fried rice were all outstanding and packed with flavor. Small place but this small place serves food packed with flavor. It's a fast casual Lao and Thai spot. Ordered the combo Dancing Garlic Riblets which came with a choice of jasmine or sticky rice and papaya salad that you can customize the level of spice. Prepare your senses cause medium spicy has a whole lot of kick to it. Service is average, it's a counter ordering so really nothing to write about it. This has easily one of our go to fast casual thai spots! My husband initially brought home some leftovers after a work lunch and I had been craving their pad thai ever since. I do think the pad thai was a little sweeter than I would have wanted the second time around but still delicious! We also got an order for their wings. The price for the wings seems steep for 5 wings but the flavor and cook of the wings were really good! I also had a thai tea that i think needed a little more sweetness. I ordered the pad see ew with tofu, and it was delicious! I love Thai food, so it's not difficult for me to enjoy it. The only reason why I gave a 4/5 stars is because the food was salty, and I got a spice level of 3 out of 5 and it wasn't spicy at all. The place was very clean, and I think it's a common place to do take-out rather than dine-in, so there were a lot of empty tables. There's also plenty of parking spaces. If you're craving Thai at a reasonable price, ZAAP kitchen fits the bill. Is it amazing? Well, let's just say it's pretty good, but a bit heavy handed on the salt. I've eaten here a few times and the Pad See Eew and Tom Ka are better than average. The reasonable pricing makes this a better value. The service is pretty quick. They have self-service touchscreens to place your order on, and if you have any issues, an employee is always available to guide you. The dining area is really small- about 4 tables. While running errands I had come across this restaurant, ZAAP Kitchen Lao & Thai Street Eats, I had ordered the Thai favorites combo, and meatballs on the side. The combo included papaya salad, sausage, and sticky rice, which all was good, but I could tell the sticky rice was reheated, and not so fresh. The meatballs were good as well, overall everything was good, I'd just say the proportions were a bit on the small side, especially with the sticky rice, so I had to order extra, but good for a single person serving. I also liked the convenience of a kiosk to order off of, and the fast customer service. I would recommend this restaurant to those looking for some quick Thai food to eat. read more

I love ZAAP Kitchen!! I've been to the one of the Dallas locations a lot and I typically get fried rice or curry. The yellow curry is truly the best curry I've ever had. It's packed with such a depth of flavour and I love it so much. You can typically get your food within 5-10 minutes and everything is always so delicious and fresh. ZAAP is pretty casual and always in a sucky parking lot. There is not much seating so be prepared for that if it's busy. But nonetheless, I'm so glad we have one in Plano now. We did to go. Order at the counter. Friendly service. We had the Khao Poon-Chicken and the Basil Fried Rice (w/shrimp). The menu is online, so check it out. Neither meal was especially outstanding. Both skimped on the protein. Not much shrimp and not much chicken. The small amount of chicken in the Khao Poon-Chicken was tough not especially good tasting. Outstanding takeout dinner experience! We had a late shopping date, and didn't have the time asset to make pot roast dinner. We decided to pick up takeout, so that we wouldn't eat at 9pm, lol! I am so glad to have tried Zaap! The direct call to the restaurant was a breeze. The male staff that took my order was polite & helpful. We decided on spring roll w/ shrimp & Zaap chicken wing as the appetizer round. The apps tasted delicious, and incredibly FRESH! There's several restaurants in the shopping center so once we figured out where it was (next to Einstein's, facing the access road), it's easy to get in and out of. You order at the counter, pick a table (one of 5) and they bring out your food. The food was good but not outstanding. We ordered a variety of items. Unfortunately we looked at the menu online and some of the choices online are not available at the Plano location. I ordered the Thai Fried Rice but that's not what came to the table. When I asked the guy who took our order what it was, he told me something that wasn't on the menu. I guess ordered an item from a secret menu and didn't know it . The garlic stir fry was hands down the best thing we ordered. It was worth of 5 stars. The Lao iced coffee was delicious as well. The riblets were tough. The flavor was good but I wouldn't order them again. The cream cheese crab rolls were good, not great. The biggest bummer of the evening was when they started cleaning the sitting area and taking out the trash while we were eating. We tried the tom yum with shrimp at spice level 5, and it was absolutely delicious. It was spicy and bursting with flavor. The basil fried rice was also quite good, though next time, I think a bit more spice would elevate it even further. As for dessert, the mango sticky rice was a delightful treat, with just the right amount of coconut milk to balance the sweetness perfectly. This is one of the better thai places i've had in dallas recently. My friend and I love tom yum soup so we got one to share with a spicy level of 3. We also split the yellow curry and pad see ew. The soup and curry came with rice. A third friend also got the curry fried rice (not pictured). I'd say all 3 of us were really happy with this place and we'd all come back! we all tried ranking our dishes in order of what we like the most and we all had different dishes we picked for first, which i guess shows how everything is good here. Their most popular dishes here are the yellow curry, laotian fried rice, pad see ew, pad thai, and pad ke maow. Also for those wondering, I'd say my spice tolerance is fair/average and spicy level 3 wasn't too bad. I was thinking if I should've gotten level 2 but level 3 wasn't bad at all. If i come back, i'd probably stick to level 2 or 3 though. The prices on the menu uploaded on yelp aren't accurate though. It's not about $2 more per dish than what's shown on the pictures of the menu on yelp currently but i think it's still worth the price. Taste was great and portions were generous. read more

The food was delicious. I came here with friends and we ordered a lot and I sampled a lot. The spring rolls were very good, but my favorites of the appetizers were the crab and cream cheese rolls and the jerky. I got the yellow curry with tofu and I loved it. The fried onions on top were a nice touch. The service was excellent. My friends and I stayed for a while, eating and catching up. There was hardly anyone dining in, so it was not crowded - but the staff was very accommodating and brought us plates so we could share our food. The manager even humored us when we asked him to take a group photo - and he even had us get behind a "backdrop" wall. So nice. I will be back! read more

Ordered take out from here tonight. And I'm always skeptical when it comes to Lao/Thai food. I'm very picky because I love authentic places. And ZAAP is honestly pretty authentic to me. I usually go to Richardson to get Lao food but now I don't have to drive so far! And I kid you not, I live all the way in McKinney. I got the Crispy wings, Khao Piak, Jeow Som, Sticky Rice and Thai Tea. Wings were nice and crispy with great flavor from the garlic! Jeow Som had the perfect balance of sweet, sour and hint of salty. Thai tea hit the spot with the right amount of sweetness. Anyone who knows me is that I don't like it too sweet or watered down. But downside was the Khao Piak. I meant to order Khao Poon which is my fave dish. But I accidentally got the Piak instead which was my fault. Still good flavors but not my fave dish. Overall a great place that is closer by my house for authentic Lao/Thai food. Def coming back to try everything else! read more

Small seating area w 6 tables, 2 double & 4 quad. Plastic utensils, fast food good for pickup. It's 6:15 with 1 couple waiting for a table. Two of the six tables are doubles the other are quad seats so count on standing or taking it as carry out. I had pad that was mediocre. Pluses are the Laotian entres look good. Delivery time is fast so you can order carry-out w minimal wait. It's open till 10PM weeknights which is unusual for a lot of places in Plano. The riblets and wings were crispy and delicious. Our friend who once lived in Laos told us the wings were marinated in fish sauce, soy sauce, sweet soy sauce and one other ingredient ... you can imagine all the different layers of flavors going on. The riblets were dry, crispy and tender. They added raisins to the pineapple fried rice and it was so good! Everything was really good. Next time we plan to order the ZAAP combo where you choose one of the Laos Favorites and you get a side Papaya Salad and Sticky Rice!
