Really enjoyed this place. We started out with the crab rolls which were pretty disappointing since it was $8 for 4. I paid $10 for my meal so I felt cheated. Food wise I was impressed. I ordered the basil chicken with shrimp and my husband ordered the curry fried rice. Both were very large portions and filling. My husband absolutely loved his curry fried rice. I felt like both plates had a lot of flavor. My only knock was I asked for a 2 spicy level and it came out with no spice level whatsoever. The service was quick and she was always on top of any refills or questions. The atmosphere was a lot different (and nicer) than your average run of the mill thai place. Stopped in for the first time today, was quickly greeted and seated. A very nice staff was quite attentive throughout my dining experience. Great food, served at just the right temperature and *heat* (spice) for my personal tastes, and even though the place was quite busy over lunch, the service was quite prompt as far as getting my food out in a timely fashion (important for lunchtime diners). I would definitely stop in again if and when back in the area, let alone recommend it to those who live *in* the area. read more

I have come here a handful of times, and sometimes the service can be hit or miss. Overall though, the food has always been perfection here. I have had their red curry, pad kee mow, and green curry. I have had both dishes with tofu or chicken, and they have all been tasty. They are on point with their spice levels too, so be careful, or ask for a 3 star and a spice rack. They have outdoor patio seating, which I think is a must in this area! Inside the restaurant is beautiful, they have a bar, and a lot of seating. They can accommodate to big parties as well. I'm gonna be honest here, I was not impressed. When my party and I walked in, I admit, the ambiance was great and we loved the decor. And the service was pretty nice too. Our waiter was great and we were sat promptly. However, that's pretty much all the positive I can say. The actual food was decent. The Pad Thai was way too sweet, even though my friend had ordered a spice level 5, and both the Pad Thai and Pad Woon Sen tasted really strange and "off" like there was this really strange aftertaste to both dishes that was quite unappetizing. They used MAMA instant noodles for the Bahmee Noodles, which would have been fine as I love MAMA noodles, except for the fact that they wrote that they use "egg noodles" in the description on the menu. So I expected actual egg noodles. My bad I guess. The Pad See Ew and Pad Kee Mao were both average to be honest and you could find better at other Thai places. In addition, nothing was spicy enough. I had to douse the food with dried chilies and hot sauces, even though some of us had ordered level 3-5+ spice. All in all, I probably won't return unless I'm invited here by friends as there are plenty of other good Thai places around town that are also more affordable. read more

This place was decent. Nice decor and fast service. Tends to get busy during lunch but I waa in/out in less than an hour, although I packed mine togo because my friend had to leave early. Parking is available down the way so it isn't too bad, although you may have to walk some. I had the Thai beef salad which came with white rice. I got medium spice which waa perfect for me, but I like my food on the spicy side of things. Bill was $26 for two people at lunch. My friend got the chicken curry fried rice and that total is including tip. I'd revisit this place but there waan't anything specific that I could rave about. I have been meaning to try this place for a long time because I've heard about it from my coworkers in years past. I ended up coming here with my team for a holiday lunch. We ordered the lettuce wraps based on a recommendation from a fellow coworker who had been here before. The meat in the lettuce wraps was good but it was missing something that I couldn't put my finger on. I added some spices and it really brought out the flavor. We visited Plano's Legacy and discovered Samui Thai Cuisine. Have lunch with my family over the weekend. Love their Beef Masaman and Tilapia filet. Our Adult children enjoyed their Pad Thai (shrimp on Pad Thai and abalone on glass noodles), too. I think it's normal to eat Pad Thai with chopsticks in America. After living with my family in Bangkok in the late 90s, Samui Thai Cuisine's food is very close to be an authentic Thai cuisine. Service is excellent and people are friendly. Outstanding decor and ambiance, too. Not too pricey. Hard to get parking on weekends. Will be back next time for dinner and dessert. read more

This is the first time I ate here. My husband ate here a few years ago and he liked it. We gave a try so I could have some good Thai food. The ambiance is distinctively Thai. It seems upscale; I liked it. It was rather noisy due to the small dining area. Tables are quite close to each other so we could barely have a conversation. We didn't mind the noise as long as they have good food. We waited a little for the server to get our drinks. Then waited again for the order to be taken. We ordered appetizer and told her we are ready to order our entrees. We were starving and didn't want to wait that long. Our appetizer came in a timely manner; not too long, not too quick. When the tables next to us got occupied I told my husband "It's a good thing we came in a little early". It seems that people are arriving for dinner. We waited and waited. I figured it was still being cooked. Then the table that came after us got served. It irked me that we both got Pad Thai. I though my order just takes longer time to cook; apparently not. Then the other table got served. That doesn't seem right so talk to one of the ladies and told her what's going on. She came in and within a minute or two our order was brought by a guy. He wasn't our server but he brought it to us. When our server came I ask her if she forgot about us. She said since we ordered appetizer, our ticket went to the back. What kind of lame excuse is that!? What's odd to us is how quick they were to give our order after informing them. It seems like our food was seating somewhere. She just forgot to give it to us. She had the big tables and forgot about us. The food- We ordered 2 Pad thai and spicy grapow fried rice. The Pad Thai was a little too sweet to my liking. I normally like sweet but this was a little too much. There wasn't much flavor to it. It wasn't bad. I just had better. The spicy gaprow was again average for me but my husband liked it. Next up in my quest to eat at all of the even remotely affordable places that are open for lunch within walking distance of my office: Samui Thai. I've dined at the Allen location in the past, but this is my first time here, at least since I started Yelping in 2009. Perusing the lunch menu, the Singapore stir fry was speaking to me, so I ordered that (the old fashioned way, by phone) with extra pork, hot, and walked over to pick it up. Digging in back at the office, it's a very generous clamshell of food, with teeny tiny rice noodles lit up neon yellow from the curry, snow peas, carrots, green onions, egg and some other yummy bits. My call for extra pork was the right one, because it would have been a little light on protein without it. In a word, it was delicious. I'd call it more "medium hot", but these things can be so subjective. It had great curry flavor, and the texture of the noodles was right on. Pork pieces were cooked well but not dry. It was a really enjoyable dish that I'd surely order again. I'll be sure to try some other favorites like pad kee mow from here in the near futures, as I loves me some Thai. read more

Went to Samui today for lunch and ordered the Pad See Lew with chicken. It was really good! This dish consisted of wide rice noodles with sweet soy sauce, broccoli, and eggs. You have the option to choose from chicken, beef, pork, bbq pork, or tofu. The service was very good and I liked the atmosphere. Samui is located in the shoppes of legacy shopping strip facing Legacy Dr. The decor of this place is really cute. It's spacious and the restaurant is divided into two sections with a full bar. It's dark and intimate. The server was very helpful when we asked for popular dishes. The chicken red curry was very good. The only thing I would have hoped for was that it had more bamboo in it. They give you one bowl of rice with the dish. If you ask for an extra bowl of rice it's a $2.00 charge. Beef Pad Kee Maw was excellent. It wasn't too saucy and they weren't shy with the meat. The noodle dishes seem to be a lot smaller then the rice dishes. Both of our dishes were $12.95 which is pretty reasonable. I would definitely return. The pad thai and the tom yum soup looked delish! Today was my first time eating here and I absolutely fell in love. The waiting staff is so friendly and the atmosphere was perfect. Even though they were fully booked, i did not feel like I had to yell to be heard. The food was AMAZING! I rarely finish a dish but I ate the whole thing (Tofu and Eggplant Basil Spice Level 3). I wanted to give this Thai spot a solid 3 stars for a few reasons:: Good food Beautiful decor Friendly waitstaff Great location But on my latest visit I watched the round table in front of me scramble as a woman jumped up from her chair to find a 'black bug'- that had crawled across her menu. Unsure if it was a cockroach or because whatever it was, was never found.. (It was evening and the dinner lighting made it that more difficult to look for.) Either way, just having to be witness to that while I was almost finished eating dinner did not make for a pleasant experience. I'm giving this place one star because I was seriously served what look to be oodles & noodles Literally! I ordered the Bah Mee Soup...I was in shock when it was delivered to my table. Especially with 12.95 price tag. I even google Bah Mee soup to make sure I was not mistaken. Maybe it was a joke??? I just googled the restaurant and the dish---no pic of that crap is showing up in the images. I'm seriously baffled right now. Oh & my fiancé got a nasty case of the craps during our movie... :shocker: It was oodles and noodles (like the dry packaged ones) drenched in water with curry powder sprinkled in. Oh and crappy chicken to woo me--maybe? The only reason I did not return this mini swamp soup was to avoid a scene as my friend invited us & seemed to love this place. Been here multiple times for work, probably a dozen times. Each time I've come, the food has never been a disappointment, but it never stood out either. Their fried rice was seasoned ok but not great, pad kee mow was also ok and not a stand out, their curries are a little too sweet for my taste, and even ordering "Thai High" for level of spice wasn't as hot as some other places. Not saying this is bad, the food is indeed good, however it isn't a stand out spectacular culinary experience. It is convenient, though due to location the ease of finding parking can be very difficult. I will return but not have high expectations if my previous visits is any indication. read more

I was really torn as to how to rate this place. The lemongrass soup was life-changing...now, admittedly, I've never had lemongrass soup before, and maybe it's just as delicious at other Thai places. But wow. I've never had a spicy soup (or any food for that matter) where the spice didn't bother me at all, because it added flavor and interest without lingering on my lips or leaving an unpleasant after-burn. I'd go back for the soup alone. In contrast, the ginger chicken was terrible. Almost flavorless, with scant veggies. So, before I went back here, I'd go to another Thai place (e.g., Thai Spice) and try their lemongrass soup. If it's just as good or better, I won't be back to Samui Thai. read more

One star for the service- they are never around We went on a Wednesday night, with some friends and there was a 20 minute wait. The decor is nice and we had to flag down waitstaff just to get someone to take our order and then again 15 minutes later for our drinks and then again about our food. The thai tea was good, the vegetable tempura was really bad, thick slices of under cooked vegetables, bland- never order! We got green curry , pad kee mow, red curry all good. Once they got the food to the table, the wait staff were no where to be found. We had to flag them down again for the check and then when we complained they offered to take the tempura off the check. I ordered the Tom Yum soup, and the chicken pad Thai(thai hot ...still paying for it). My foodie friend order the pineapple fried rice. The soup was good, albeit really spicy, like cough and clear my throat spicy, and I have a pretty high tolerance for heat. The soup had mushrooms and scallions that added depth to the hearty broth. I would give the soup a solid 3.5. The chicken pad Thai was spicy, and the flavors melded well, but I must say I have had better. I live in the Shops at Legacy and I forget this place even exists sometimes. Im ashamed to say its been a long time since my last meal here so this Friday me and the hubby went back there. Now Im a born again fan I was craving comfort food so I ordered the Pad Kee Mow and going on yelp tips i asked for the #4 spice level...it was the perfect level of heat (i love spice but too hot and I feel it loses flavor) While I really enjoyed my dish the hubby outdid me on his Penang Beef...the flavor was out of this world. Im craving his dish today and have been every day since last Friday. We stuck with simple drinks (wine/sake) and the girl serving us was very sweet. We stumbled upon here after running some errands in the area. It was just the hubby and I. Service - 4 stars. Our waitress was awesome. We asked her about the Mango Mahi Mahi (Special for that night) or the Mango Salmon. She went to the kitchen and asked for us. She suggested the Mango Salmon because the kitchen said the salmon was very fresh. I had also ordered the Tom Kha Goong. It barely had any coconut milk. She immediately took it back to the kitchen and added more coconut milk. After we got our food, she didn't come and check back on us. Hence 4 stars instead of 5. Food - 3.5 - 4 stars. We started with the sunwrapped shrimp. They were whole shrimp wrapped in egg roll wrappers and fried. It was supposed to be served with a siracha sauce. The wrapped shrimp were bland and the sauce was just mayo with siracha on top in a nice design. It was ok. Nothing special. I then got Tom Kha Goong. It tasted like Tom Yum Goong with a splash of coconut. Not what I wanted. It was good if you want Tom Yum instead of Tom Kha. We then had the Mango Salmon. This made up for the other food we ordered. The salmon was melt in your mouth and the rice was so flavorful. I couldn't get enough of the sauce and mango salsa. I would go back just for this dish. Ambience -5 stars. I liked it. Went on a double date to this place for dinner on our trip to Dallas. We had the lettuce chicken tacos and the spring rolls. That both tasted good. The highlight of the dish was the peanut sauce though, absolutely amazing. We had the basil chicken rice. The spicy was too spicy for the hubby so we had to order the medium spice so be mindful when you order. The ambiance is really good and looks pretty high end. But the prices and portion sizes of the food is pretty reasonable. The only reason I give 3 stars is coz I am spoiled for choices in Chicago for amazing Thai food and this does not stand up to the places I've eaten at. read more

I wanted to try this place because I read they have big portions. True, the portions were big however the fried rice and pad see ew really lacked flavor. That was disappointing. I noticed that there were only 3 waitresses working but they did an excellent job waiting on everyone.
