I've been told it used to be a racetrack, Japanese American internment camp, to name a few. It's hard to believe this place has so much history but can look so abandoned on the outside. This was where I had my first job working at Miller's Outpost / Anchor Blue. That's when it used to be a very alive mall then, with the super cheap double show movie theater. The good old days when life was much simpler and we weren't glued to cell phones, lol. I could've sworn I read somewhere a while back this place was sold, and it was going to be like a biotech/ apartment in like 5 years or so. I could be wrong. Like most malls now, it's mostly all about food. I believe they still do off the grid here every Tuesday. For what it is, it's still a cool place to just walk around, catch a movie, and get a bite to eat.

Anchor stores are Mollie Stone Market and CVS Drugstore. I was recently at Bayhill for the grand opening party for the Local Kitchens Micro Food Hall. Other major brands include: Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Baskin Robbins, Carl's Jr, Round Table Pizza, and State Farm. While driving on I-280, this shopping center might make a nice rest stop. Mingle and cruise after. I like how it's easy to just, go in and out. Like do what you need to do without the crazy hassle. They have a big parking lot and close to the freeways.

Everything I look for in one location and is right off Hwy 280 at, surprise, the Westborough Blvd exit. The area is usually clear of trash and debris which is nice. People don't litter or the owner have the property taken care of well. Also, two gas stations and a major fast food chain are adjacent. Note the parking and lanes are tight and can get filled up quickly on weekends.

We didn't realize until we got home, so we spent a little more than we had intended. Since we didn't have dinner plans, we decided to grab some chicken from Bonchon. It was relatively slow as we were there between lunch and dinner. I do love their chicken. It's crispy and very flavorful. Though our sides weren't very good. The kimchi slaw tasted old and off. We ended up throwing that away. They have more random shops such as my namesake restaurant Ng's Cooking, an AT&T store, etc. For some reason, my cell phone data wasn't working at Bonchon, so I guess it would have been convenient to just stop by AT&T next door. Never seen protestors for that brand in particular, but it is what it is. There's LOTS of college students (near SFSU apparently) and Zoomers since it was, I suppose it's after school on a Tuesday. Parking the back was no issue. Also a decent selection of shops that I would go to normally, like Daiso or Miniso, as well as a Round 1. Neat that they have a Quickly's that looks like it's untouched by time (portraits of cute Ulzzang style workers enjoying the drinks and food there), there's charging tables, and a good amount of eateries and options to get boba and snacks. Completely incomprehensible unless you're specifically from the 626, but this mall reminds me of a mix between the Santa Anita mall and the West Covina mall (during it's prime). Pretty bustling and lots of businesses that actually interest me. I think my only qualm is that everything is at a smaller scale and smaller store, like their Pop Mart and Miniso are markedly smaller with a smaller stock, so keep that in mind.

This 70+ year old shopping mall can be found packed with shoppers, as it offers several major anchors and other popular businesses. Currently, anchor stores include: - Safeway - Home Depot - Walgreens - Burlington Coat Factory - Ross Others: Trader Joes, Sheng Kee Bakery, Target (small), Starbucks Originally named " Westlake Town & Country Shopping Center," it opened in April 1951. It has gone thru many changes and renovations. I think that's why it has a somewhat irregular design and layout. My job often brings me into this area, as the mall is surrounded by apartment buildings. It also has a plaza that's loaded with small restaurants along Southgate Ave. My last visit to Westgate was on a Saturday evening. As I waited to turn from John Daly Blvd onto Westgate Center Rd, it looked like I was about to drive into a sea of cars. The main road thru the mall was adorned by a canopy of white lights. Park in lots or multi-level parking complex. It's a pretty large shopping center, and worth several visits.
