Ha! I thought I would stand out with my 5-Star review, but no such luck. Looks like it's gonna get drowned out by the ocean of other 5-Star reviews. But then again, considering my experience with San Diego North Endodontics, I should have expected this. Early last year, I had enough pain to make an emergency visit to my regular dentist. They subsequently sent me over to Doctor Chesler's office for a consultation. Turns out I had an incomplete root canal from a previous dentist many years ago that wasn't done quite right. They got me in right away to resolve the issue and that is exactly what they did! The entire procedure was a cake walk with immediate pain relief. Although there was residual pain due to healing, it has gradually been getting less. My 6-month visit revealed substantial improvement, and my one-year visit showed missing bone structure filling back in. It's to the point of only slight sensation while flossing. Ok, so much for the technical stuff. Regarding Dr. Chesler, I felt like I was his ONLY patient! He kept me fully informed about everything sparing no details. Additionally, he is compassionate in addressing any patient concerns. It's like he goes beyond the call of duty! read more

I just had a root canal therapy procedure done and had a very pleasant experience at this location. Carmen is so friendly and welcoming, she's the first person you speak to when calling or walking through the door, and her warm energy is instantly comforting. Dr. Chesler was also wonderful, he performed the procedure quickly and efficiently, and I felt completely at ease in his care. Dr. Chesler and his staff were very welcoming and kind. I made 2 visits to their office after being referred to SD North Endodontics through my dentist for a likely root canal needed. The consultation was very thorough as Dr. Chesler carefully explained what was going on, what to expect, the risks/complications, etc. He answered all my questions and I felt very confident about next steps. The actual procedure was a success, which was all you can really ask for in this situation. Considering how invasive and not-fun a procedure like this can be, he and his staff made the experience pleasant with good music, lightheartedness, and good conversation (that I could only mumble to). Technically speaking, I'd put Dr. Chesler's skills at highest marks, as he had to "use his brain" a bit more (his words, not mine) during my procedure after seeing I had a not-so common situation going on. He found a way through and accomplished what he intended, but it was no easy feat! Dr Matthew Chesler's office manager in Escondido is a POS! They are still harassing my 88 year old mother to pay more on her bill than they agreed to. It went from $50 to $100 and now $200 per month. They are scaring the shit out of my mom with threats to take her to collections. I have Durable Power of attorney for my mother and called them to tell them they can only deal with me. They agree to that to get me off the phone, then contact my mom with threats again. This office manager is a real low IQ twit. She mocks you on the phone, laughs at you and then hangs up. Just want to get the word out that these people are POS's. read more

Excellent experience from the first phone call to the completion of the root canal. Carmen and Alicia were amazing, kind and explained things thoroughly. Dr. Chesler listened to my dental concerns and went over the options. I choose to have medication to relax me and it was the best decision for me even though I rarely take medication. I am petrified of the dentist so when my DDS told me that I needed to have a root canal, I thought my world had come to a end. well, sort of. Dr Chesler was referred by my DDS & was a provider listed by my dental insurance. (Bonus). Stopped by their office the same day to make an appt & get the dreaded procedure done. Was very pleased that before leaving the office, my insurance was contacted so I knew exactly what they would pay & what my out of pocket expenses would be. I go in for procedure. Dr Chesler was very kind, patient, gentle & explained everything he planned to do. His assistant ( I think her name was Melody), was just as nice with an excellent "chairside" manner. After getting into the root canal, Dr Chesler discovered that the tooth was not repairable. The extent of damage could not be seen on xrays as it was part of a bridge with metal between tooth & crown. He suggested I have the molar extracted the same day to avoid further discomfort. Before leaving, his front office called a couple oral surgeons in my area for a same day appt. confirming they networked with my insurance & appt was set up for 3 hrs later. Although Dr Chesler was not able to complete the procedure intended, my experience with him & staff were beyond excellent. I would not hesitate to return if needed. Thank you Dr Chesler & staff. I have been actively trying not to go to the dentist for quite a while-just to let you know these five stars are as good as gold. I didn't know what to expect it has been many years since I have had a root canal and I figured the worst. Like something medieval. Fortunately there were no Iron Maidens. I was very nervous; however, I was put at ease because the office is run efficiently so there is a great flow to the office and there is an amazing dental hygienist who seemed to understand my nervousness before I even said anything. Doctor Chesler told me what would happen, what he expected to see and what to do. Also, when it came to the local anesthesia he injected the area efficiently and it only needed to be done at the beginning. My root canal was also done in under an hour. A short background prior to the review. A month before I went to my normal Dentist complaining of soreness of my top jaw. Nothing was found and chalked it up to stress. Then "IT" appeared. A large pus filled growth on my front gums. I went into action like I was infected with Ebola. Conferring with Google and my Dentist resulted in finding out I had a tooth infection and needed treatment. Dr. Smith is one of the most instructive professionals I have ever encountered. I have incredible dental anxiety. The idea of getting a root canal, as you can imagine, makes me cringe. But I have to say that Dr Chesler and his amazing team were incredible. His dental assistant held my hand and made me feel so much calmer than I really felt. When he numbed my mouth I barely even felt the injections. Dr Chesler explained everything with great clarity and detail (which made me feel more peace). Everyone there is SO professional and nice. The office staff is uber friendly. Everything was super clean and sanitary. The preparation, procedure and follow up appointments went so smoothly. I can't recommend them enough. If I moved 100 miles away but had to get a root canal in the future, I'd drive all the way back here for their excellent care. Had an excruciating toothache the last few days. 10/10 for pain. It was awful. Went into my normal dentist. They took an xray and referred me to Dr. Chesler to see if "the tooth could be saved". Kinda freaked me out. A lot. But when I got to Dr. Chesler's office, all my worries melted away. From the Led Zeppelin playing throughout the office (much better than the typical elevator music dentists play) to the warm and friendly staff i was greeted by, I knew I had nothing to fear. Dr. Chesler explained everything in great lengths to make sure understood everything. Had me laughing most of the time. I did have to get a quick cat scan at another location before the procedure...which was literally across the street. And then they got me right in with a root canal. Not how I anticipated my day going but everything was quick and painless. I will ALWAYS refer this office to everyone I meet. I was thoroughly impressed with everything and everyone. Dr. Smith does NOT rush through his explanations of the problem and even gave me a mini physiology lesson on how nerves function and thus their methodology behind the anesthetics. I went to him for my root canal and he explained every step of the procedure. before operating, he showed me where the infection was, how the infection functions, how it affects my teeth, the reasons behind my symptoms, why cold water alleviated my pain (bacteria eating the nerves release gas. cold water reduces the pressure of gas), and why my immune system couldn't get the bacteria inside the tooth (blood vessals already dead and occupied by bacteria. can't get white blood cells through). He also commented on the tools, how they work, what they do, and what step he's on during the procedure. He makes you feel like being part of the team. Definitely recommend him. Dr. Chessler is wonderful! After an area, where I received a root canal 18 years ago, began hurting, my dentist recommended that I see Dr. Chessler. He recommended a 3D x-ray and it determined that I had a 4th root that wasn't touched during my original root canal. He and his staff are very friendly and personable.
