We've been coming here for many years and have found this to be the best dental office throuout our lifetime. We have been to some dental offices where all they want is to do unessesary work just to get your money. This office is not like these other ones, they really take special care of you. The staff is always very cordial, there's Roxanne who is very sweet who answers phones, Yessenia the treatment coordinator, Alex (a great hygenist, takes time to explain any issues). There's also the very kind assistants, Wendy and Sofia. Then there's also Maria and Christina the cordinators who take good care of you and will answer any questions regarding any work you need done and will work with your insurance to make sure you pay only what is necessary. And then there's our favorite, Dr. Hercules Real, he goes above and beyond any dentist we've ever had. He is very gentle and calms your nerves. I used to be frightened about getting dental work done because I had a horrible experience that left me traumatized. Dr. Real is sweet, he humms music that relaxes me, and when he injects my mouth he does it in a way that I don't feel the needle going in. As he is working in my mouth, he always asks me, are you ok? Any pain? It is comforting to know that he is sensitive and alert on how you are feeling at the moment. We have been taking my mom to San Dimas Dental group for several years. This most recent visit was a little different as my mom has dementia, and co-morbidities. Mom was extremely sensitive and fearful of the sounds, and has a very low pain tolerance. The staff, was kind, caring, extremely patient and understanding. She had 2 teeth pulled and dr. Diane Medina, was more than patient with her fear, she was gentle and thorough, and even called to follow up after the procedure. It's always sad to experience the retirement of a beloved physician. You hope a clinic will carry on with the same work ethic and quality of care that the Doctor created within the office but it usually goes into retirement with the physician and that's what happened with this place. When Dr. Bunkers retired, all of his friendly customer service and attention to patient care went with him. This office has been on a sad slow downhill. In my efforts to keep going, I noticed the office to have a sullen slow energy. It's terribly sad for me to write this review. I was (and that's the big thing WAS) a loyal patient of the San Dimas Dental Group for over 20 years with perfect checkups--no cavities or major work needed outside of elective procedures (i.e., Invisalign). I first came as a child and had Dr.Lipkowski as my dentist who was really good as well as his hygienist. He retired, and I was assigned to Dr. Bunkers...my favorite! He was the best! I was even one of his early Invisalign patients. During that time, I would commute 45 minutes to an hour for my appointments but it was worth it because of the care and treatment I received. A couple years ago, I was assigned to a new hygienist, Alex! Talk about a dream team--Dr. Bunkers and Alex. It was probably prime time of dental service I received from San Dimas Dental Group. Unfortunately, Dr. Bunkers retired and that's when i found myself for the first time questioning my dentist's professional assessments and recommendations. I was assigned to Dr.Savani. So prior to her, I had perfect check ups...no issues! Boom! I get assigned to her, and somehow I needed a night guard and had tons of cavities. Oh and of course my insurance (which is really good) didn't cover the supposed cavity fillings and night guard. So here I am putting hundreds of dollars on my credit card due to her assessment and treatments. The third visit was the final straw. I went in and walked out with that I thought was finally a perfect check up. Dr. Savani wasn't there so I got my awesome cleaning by Alex. Nothing seemed to pop out on the x-rays or during the cleaning. So it came as a shock to receive a call asking when I would like to come in to get my cavities filled. I was like "What!" I immediately was like I am getting a second opinion. I had them send me my X-rays. I forwarded them to my husband's dentist who he raves about and is so much closer. My husband's dentist had me come in to do her own assessment. New set of X-rays were done, she examined my teeth, and she reviewed her findings with me at no charge. Basically, she couldn't find one single cavity! Yup...that was the last straw that broke the camel's back. I felt so taken especially after all the years I had been going to that practice. The sad part is that there are wonderful people there who are stellar at their jobs (my hygienist, Alex) but my trust for this place has been destroyed. I'm now questioning the other cavities she said I had and I had her fill. Well, thankfully I have a new dentist who is closer and trustworthy...definitely cares about patients and being a professional. There might be other dentists at that practice who are incredible at what they do and my luck just ended when assigned to Dr. Savani. I do know that Alex is one of a kind hygienist and if you go there and get her, you hit the jackpot! I do miss her now that I am at my new dentist. She is the reason I didn't give them 1 star. I had been with Dr Bunkers for just over 30 years. When his old office was by San Dimas High School. Loved him, Cindy and Diane. Those 3 were amazing! We moved to Apple Valley, my husband and I would both drive down for Dr Bunkers and the girls. When he retired the new dentists were horrible. Like everyone else leaving reviews after Dr Bunkers left, these new dentists try to sell you on everything, cavities, teeth not white enough or ooo looks like you need a crown and so on. Everyone, friends, family and acquaintances over the years that went to that office because I referred them to Dr Bunkers, they have all gone else where. Don't go there! The wait time upon arrival used to be 5-10 mins and today, the wait time was up to 46 mins upon checking in. I was initially disappointed with the news Dr. Bunkers was just focusing on Invisalign! So I meet this new guy, Dr. Jawer! I gave him a chance! I just had my second crown installed by this man yesterday on 1/26/2021! My tooth was drilled down to a nub, and zero pain! Perfection in novocaine placement and amount! It was a breeze compared to a cleaning! I'm a CPA, and although I am currently inactive, I still know how to audit! My opinion, Dr. Jawer is a talented dentist, like Bunkers, you know he knows what he is doing with a very obvious confidence! He is a real pro with a down to earth personality that you can see because the whole staff has embraced him as their own! They all like each other there, and that good vibe can be felt by me! She receptionist was so rude, and didn't want to even give me a quote for how much a routine exam would cost that I decided to not go there at all. Didn't want to be surprised with hidden costs after the exam. She finally gave me some prices after debating the issue with her. The exam was 90, cleaning was extra. Wouldn't give me a quote on cleaning. X-rays were 139. Seemed kind of expensive, especially when prices were not given freely. Unfortunately I had a TERRIBLE experience with Dr. Real at The San Dimas Dental Group. Their advertising verbiage states that they will not try to hard sell any procedures. Well, I am a Senior Citizen who has had Dr. Bunkers take care of my teeth for over 20 years. Upon learning about Dr. Bunker's retirement, I was assigned Dr. Real. As soon as the Dr. walked into the room and was introduced to me by the Hygienist, I felt that there were going to be issues. I was correct. Here is the list of issues. Please remember that Dr. Bunkers has treated me for a very long time and made sure that my teeth stayed healthy FOR MY AGE: 1. When introduced to me, Dr. Real didn't even come around to the front of the chair to greet me personally. 2. When he finally did, he looked into my mouth to give me a report on my x-rays and do a general inspection, BUT then proceeded to tell me all that was wrong with my teeth that DR Bunkers has been taking care of all this time, as follows: a. He said that I needed Braces (please remember that I am a Senior Citizen) b. He said that I needed a Tooth Implant c. He said that I am grinding my teeth and causing marks on my tongue d. He asked me how often I had Migraines. I had to tell him that I have NEVER had a Migraine in my life. He said that I will if I continue to grind my teeth. e. He said that there is also a strong possibility that I will soon need a Root Canal, too. f. He asked me if I floss. After the Hygienist had just finished cleaning and praising me for my flossing diligence. 3. After all this inspection of the terrible condition of my teeth that have been taken care of by Dr. Bunkers, HE HAD THE NERVE TO ASK ME WHAT PROCEEDURES I WANTED HIM TO DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4. THEN THE STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMEL'S BACK WAS THAT HE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE Courtesy TO WISH ME A GOOD DAY OR EVEN AS MUCH AS SAY IT WAS A PLEASURE MEETING ME. Honestly, if it wasn't for my fantastic Dental Hygienist, Yvette, I would never go back to The San Dimas Dental Group. If I ever require dental work in the future, I will insist that he or she Dr. will be courteous and not try to sell me all the unnecessary services. If you think I am a complainer, Please consider that I am 78 years old and have been taken care of very well for my age by Dr. Bunkers. Dr. John Bunker has been my Dentist for many years. However, In the past 15 months, Dr. John Bunker cared for my teeth with Invisalign. One side of my teeth had a bad underbite. Plus, I needed my teeth to be straighten. I never had braces prior to Invisalign. With Invisalign, my teeth crossed over eliminating the underbite. Dr. Savani is amazing & explains things so I can understand, the office staff is always very helpful & friendly, the office has good parking & has recently been updated.
