I was well taken care of from the minute I walked in to the office. It was busy, well run and everyone was very personable. I was extremely anxious for days leading up to my appointment, but I soon relaxed especially when I met Dr Shapiro. I was told exactly what was going on with me, we set the date for the procedure and I was guided through all the preliminary tests n stuff!!! And there was a lot!!! I would also like to add that I underwent an Aquablation procedure with Dr. Shapiro approximately four years ago. Unfortunately, my symptoms eventually returned, and my condition worsened again over time. Now, instead of offering a solution himself, I have been referred to another doctor for a different procedure. The arrogance and pompous urologists here notably missed the class on "Bedside Manner " while in Medical School. Aloof and far from patient-centered care as one could imagine. I fired these people and had all my records transferred to a stellar and highly empathetic Urologist. Between their "bitchy" administration staff and a cluster of arrogant physicians-- I am so glad that I called an audible and got a second opinion. I'm no longer a number on a patient chart and I am treated with respect and empathy. Do Better. But frankly I don't care because I will never be in their sub par care again. read more

I would love to give this place less than 1 star. I did not even make it out of the waiting room. First, Dr. Shapiro has changed who he operates under as of September. It would be fine if they told me that. I went to my appointment and was rudely talked to by his receptionist. I started to fill out the information, and she informed me that since they do not operate under this name, it is not recognized, and I cannot use my insurance. I called my referring doctor, and they could not believe it. So I returned to inform her that they would send a new referral nicely, and the receptionist yelled at me. Before this appointment, I called to see if they had cancellations so I could go in sooner; she yelled at me that time, too, that I could wait longer if I wanted to. if you can, go somewhere else. read more

I simply can't believe how I've been treated here so far. I was referred by my primary care Dr as I get chronic utis. From the get go, my concerns have been completely invalidated and dismissed by the PA. I was told "you'll be fine." Yet, I was not told my urine culture results for over a week when it's a damn good thing I went for a culture from another doctor and got those results ASAP. I was told I'd be called within the week. Instead, I've been the one doing the calling because I have a type of UTI which can turn deadly. Instead, I've had to go through my primary care dr for advice for what to do because if the sheer lack of communication or caring. Who cares if I have to call, what I'm dealing with is scary and I do not appreciate the gaslighting. Furthermore, upon first receiving the results, I had the unfortunate experience of dealing with Dr Afshar on the phone who told me he would "not give me antibiotics" and "drink water." He was so gruff and rude I was in disbelief. Horrible patient care, sorry I ruined your Netflix movie night...don't be a Dr on call then! Today I got told by the PA "stop asking me questions over and over, I'm trying to be nice but I have other patients!" Unbelievable. I'm supposed to trust this person?? I have been through hell so far with this place. I don't deserve this at all. Not to mention the front desk staff was not always friendly either and gave me an attitude when I requested my results for my PC doctor who was actually taking action to protect my life as this infection can get deadly! To add insult to injury--My PC dr had shown much more concern, empathy, and compassion than the PA I've had to deal with at the Tarzana location Bailee was also dishonest as well about my culture results and when I asked her a question on the phone she screamed "No!" at me. When I requested to get a copy, the exact opposite was right there, indicating she either didn't read it or she just does not give a s###. I'm glad I followed my instincts to not trust her after her horrific bedside manner and obvious biases against certain people...what she should have done was consult with infectious disease and order more lab work stat immediately like my PC dr did. Oh but I guess shes "so busy" right?? Other doctors have multiple patients and do not treat their patients as I was treated. My other dr has multiple locations with multiple patients and he never treated me this way and took my condition seriously! While she acted like I was inconveniencing her, and that I was asking for too much when she was doing the bare minimum because of her bias!! I will absolutely be following up to address the horrific "care" I received here. read more

I recently had a visit to this place, After my main Dr recommended Dr Shapiro, I paid upfront for the visit and Dr run some tests on me and send me home and told me to try the medication and get back to him. Once I did try the medication and called the office and asked to speak with him after mentioning that Dr told me to get back to him, which conversation ended up by Dr saying he can't do much anymore and thats it, good luck. Past few weeks later I found out the lab test that he did on me it was charged separately, it was not included in $350 that I already paid upfront and the lab contacted me for billing and after that I found out Shapiro charged me for a phone conversation that I had with him after he telling me to get back to him. I also want to mention I asked one of the staff members if I owned them for anything else the same day I talked with the Dr, they told me "no you are good" This is not how you treat costumers and not tell them for hidden charges or secret ways to find a way to charge and get money out of people. Very unprofessional I would not recommend anyone for this place after finding out how they run their billing department. I don't like greedy people and I am not one of those people who you can take money from just because you have couple of degrees and you can scam people legally now. read more

Few months back I have visited Dr. Afshar because that I might have cancer, Dr. Afshar send me to MRI and confirm that I have a small cancer, so he told me about this procedure, that this was the right thing to do in my case without telling me some of the side effects, it may occur, I said ok. So we went on and got the procedure done and I want to see him one week later. They draw blood and he told me that he will call me in ( 7 days) to let me know if I am cleared from the cancer. At the same time I told him on other serious issues that I am having after the procedure, he said oh I don't know way but let's see first if you clear from the cancer. After 7 days I didn't hear anything from him, I waited 2 weeks it was the longest 2 weeks in my life, then I called his office the nurse took my information and checked the file she said that your results are in and he signed off on it but I don't know why he did not call, she said that he is in the other office but she will send him a message to call you. No one called so the next day I called again this time another nurse she answered the phone, I told her the same thing that I been waiting for his call in past two weeks and I also called yesterday and I was told that she was going to send him a message to call me and I haven't heard anything and I am concern this is a very serious. She checked the file and gave me some numbers and said this is the result! I asked her I don't know what those numbers mean. She turned around and said ( don't worry you are not going to die) wow really! This is some of my experience with this doctor definitely not going back. read more

This place is great, Doctors are professionals. Doctors do treat patients with care and kindness. If one doctor is off or unavailable, another doctor take care of his patients happily. Treatment options are up-to date with modern technology. Office staff is vey effective and fast in scheduling needed services. They do return calls. I waited for over an hour for an appointment that I was told I had to make to discuss results of an x-ray. Keep in mind the doctor was telling me the results over the phone however we were disconnected and he wouldn't get back on the phone. So here I was for my appointment I was forced to make...... waiting and waiting ... no one comes in to update me nothing. I ended up never seeing Dr Shapiro that day. No one apologized. No one Seemed to even care. Terrible patient care if you ask me Like the other reviewers said the front office is TERRIBLE. I spoke to the office manager. She was nice and she told me she would call me Back after she spoke with the doctor and the front. Never got a call back. I expected that. Nothing against Dr. Shapiro himself. Seemed to be a great doctor when I saw him at my first visit. Unfortunately if he doesn't do something about his staff he will lose more and more patients! read more

Had appointment last week.Reccommended by my GP. Office was busy and immaculate. Clerical people were very professional and wait time was very reasonable. Dr. Shapiro's assistants were very helpful and informative. Dr. Shapiro gave me a very professional exam and fully explained everything he was doing. I like Doctor Shapiro and I got a good diagnosis and treatment plan. The treatment requires pills. I can easily take the pills, I just cant get this office to call the pharmacy and authorize the pharmacist to give them to me. I have called and the pharmacist has called. I had the Doctors office that referred me to him call, we all wasted our time. Such a simple clerical matter should not require this much effort. read more

I don't normally leave reviews for businesses. However, I scheduled an appt with this facility MONTHS prior and they asked me what my insurance was. I said BC and also called me insurance to confirm Dr. Jennifer was contracted, my insurance said she was. I came to my appointment, missing work, and was told they are out of network. I work in healthcare and this is utterly unprofessional. I called my insurance right then and my insurance said the doctor is contracted. I spoke with the front desk and was informed, BC has them showing contracted but they are not. WHAT? If that's the case, then fix it. I understand insurance reimbursement rates can be low and having cash paying patients makes more sense but then make sure you're not on the list of insurance providers. I would of had no problem paying the $350 if I was given a heads up. I'd rather go somewhere else and pay $500 then be blindsided. I know my insurance has great coverage and is from the hospital my husband works at. It's just basic human consideration to let your patients know what's going on before the rearrange their whole day to come in. read more

Front desk workers are rude. Very rude. So rude, in fact, that after I got off the phone with a woman I straight-up cried. I called after being told that my normal doctor couldn't handle my problem and I needed to go to a specialist. I called the office scared, in pain, but hopeful that they could help me. Instead, I was greeted by the rudest, most unfriendly voice I have ever heard. She talked down to me, acted like I was 6, seemed to be miffed that I suggested that they could call my other clinic for my recent test results. I'm sorry that I asked you to do your job! My previous clinic told me to tell them to contact them directly-- how was I supposed to know that this was a huge annoyance? I ended up cancelling my appointment. I've been a patient of Dr. Shapiro for six or seven years. A few months ago my PSA went up significantly. Dr. Shapiro sent me for a prostate MRI. Based upon the MRI results he took a biopsy of my prostate (approximately 10 samples). Thankfully, all came back clear. I was extremely nervous about the biopsy because I read stories about how painful it could be. Dr. Shapiro gave me a couple of shots of lidocaine and the biopsy procedure was painless (some of the after-effects were no fun but they were minor and temporary). Dr. Shapiro is an excellent physician and I would recommend him highly. read more

I moved to USA a year ago and after 10 months I started loosing my hair. I have not seen Dr. Shapiro yet and I'm honestly not sure if I will because the receptionist who made my appointment was incredibly rude and condescendingly called me "honey" if I didn't answer as quickly as she wanted because she was clearly busy and paying attention to something else. She did not try to put me in the schedule, said she was booked until the 31st and wanted to hang up on me right there so I made her wait and stay on the line with me while I check my schedule. If I misheard something she would repeat it louder as if I was stupid, very condescending when asking the reason for my visit. Her name was Erica. Dr. Shapiro, your staff represents you, and I apologize for writing this review without having seen you but you need to communicate to your staff how the way they treat us makes us feel. It was incredibly unprofessional. We search for you or get referred to you, seek your expertise, pay and put our lives and conditions in your hands and then we get treated like crap from some nobody that has no consideration for your patients right off the bat. read more
