My daughter had a birthday party, and we mistakenly placed all her gifts in a large black trash bag. Unfortunately, we mistakenly gave these bags to the garbage man, believing they were all trash. Upon returning home, we realized we couldn't find the gifts. I explained the situation to Rebecca and eventually she was able to locate the driver, who confirmed that the gifts were all crushed. This was devastating news to hear. The next morning, one of my friends messaged me, saying that Rebecca from Recology had reached out to her and wanted to get in touch with me. One of the packages had my friend's name and address on it. Rebecca was able to track and locate her on social media. After getting in touch with Rebecca, she was able to locate and retrieve the gifts. We drove over and were able to pick them up. Unfortunately, a few of the gifts were crushed, but they were still intact and in good condition. Rebecca went above and beyond to help us. She informed the driver to come back and went through the truck herself to check if the gifts were still there. All of the gifts were accounted for and she went through each and every bag to make sure nothing was missing. Her dedication and effort truly made a difference. I can't thank her enough for her exceptional service and for saving the day. I wanted to make sure she received the recognition she deserved. Thank you so much for everything!

The car was so packed that my rear visibility was... let's just call it "faith-based." Every lane change became a strategic operation, so I drove slower than usual and gave everyone plenty of space until we made it safely to Sunset Recycling. Mission accomplished. Then came the part I underestimated. I looked at the mountain of bags, realized I'd have to separate and empty everything, and my motivation disappeared instantly. At that moment, I noticed another recycler nearby who had a relaxed, friendly vibe. I asked if he wanted the bags, and he gladly accepted them. He got the redemption value, I got my afternoon back, and nothing went to waste. That's a win-win in my book. The staff kept things moving, the process was straightforward, and it's nice knowing there's a place that helps keep all those bottles and cans out of the landfill. My mom deserves the recycling money but didn't get. I earned a lesson in how much work recycling can actually be.

For cardboard, drive through the big gates, then by the little check-in station. Then go all the way to the END of the long giant building to the SECOND rollup door. Pull in there and you're surrounded by cardboard. You'll be directed where to park by a dude; drop your cardboard and be on your way Result: The guys here are very much secret customer service; they're just doing their jobs until it's clear to them that you're lost, then they point you just in the right direction. The bigger result is that my heart feels lighter with the knowledge of this new, free resource, and I can feel accomplished, having done not that much!

People seem to love them for the mulch and they "look" cheaper than the $60 minimum at Recology.

If you're lazy, you can pay a fee for them to deliver you their organic products! I came here over the weekend to pick up some compost. As it was my first time, I was a little confused as to what mounds were what (with the exception of the wood chips pile). I believe I may have picked up some arbor mulch instead of the compost (they're both brown). Oh well... it was free! I'll be back again sometime soon to grab some more compost/mulch, and likely will have someone who works there to instruct me on which mound is what. For those who want to trek out to SF to grab some free "dirt", their hours of operation are from 7-3:30PM Mon-Sat. They're open during COVID!

On some school e-waste collection events, they even wanted to charge me $10 or $20 for bringing them the junks...no thank you. I was paid $0.35/lb for computers (59 lb) and $0.11/lb for the TV (44 lb). I collect a bit over $25 for the e-waste, which is pretty good. Actually, I brought in two 40 inch LCD TVs and another customer at the parking lot asked to purchase one TV for $10 thinking of trying to repair it. Overall, it's a great experience. Customer service was quick and friendly.

Not only was he cursing at me, but he also called me a "dick," which is completely unacceptable behavior for someone running a business. To make matters worse, I was instructed to unload and move my own pallet of batteries for recycling. After I had already done the work, I was suddenly told I couldn't continue because I was wearing Birkenstocks. If that was actually a safety policy, one of the employees could have easily told me before I started unloading instead of waiting until I was finished. When I was told I had to wait in my car, I simply walked over to my vehicle, and the owner continued insulting me by calling me a "dick" as I left. Customer service and basic professionalism were completely absent. There are plenty of other recycling businesses that treat their customers with respect. I would definitely recommend taking your business elsewhere.
