DataSafe - now VRC - They are not a local company. VRC took over Data Safe and my rates basically doubled in 2 years. They moved my storage boxes without my permission and without notifying me - to an hour away from my office. Instead of being able to drive 5 minutes to drop in and review my boxes, now I have to pay a courier to bring them to me. I'm a small business and even though I only have a small number of boxes, I have to pay a minimum each month which is equivalent to having 200+ boxes in storage. They have never notified their South San Francisco customers that their boxes are now in Fairfield, Vacaville, or Newark. I like to do business with local companies - not "Big Business" who don't care about their customers. read more

These guys were absolutely great. I hired them to shred a few boxes worth of sensitive business documents. I spoke with Idalia about it, the sales rep. called me next day. She was able to schedule an on-site appointment for the same week. The cost per box was, without exaggeration, half that of other local shredders I was using before. On shred day the driver arrived on time. He was friendly and extremely helpful, exceeding my expectations by giving me few extra boxes since I discover I had a lot more staff to shred. DATASAFE is a RIp Off.....Stay Away Their contracts are written to invoice you as many ways as they can. The fees for handling or destruction are so high that it makes more sense to simply ignore your inventory and keep paying for storage. This is exactly what they want you to do - just keep sending them a check. Not only that, the customer service is horrible and for a records storage company, their record keeping is almost non-existent. I strongly encourage you to think twice (and read the contract 3 times) before you consider them for storage. read more

Ok ok ok... you're reading this review (if you actually read my reviews...) thinking "Oh yes! New review from Jill K.! That totally turns my Monday around!" and suddenly you are like "huh? a DATA STORAGE CENTER? why is Jill K. reviewing a DATA STORAGE CENTER?" Well... my organization stores old files and paperwork with DataSafe, and I was extremely impressed with both the facility and personnel. We called ahead to have some of our files pulled, and when we arrived, they were waiting for us in an office. The staff was friendly and helped us locate two files that had been MIA. Most impressively, while my coworker and I were waiting in the lobby for our bosses to finish up, the CEO walked in (we recognized him from his picture on the wall) and asked us if we were being helped. To me, that speaks volumes about a company. I'd definitely recommend DataSafe for your document storage needs. read more

I don't know if you are as tired of the horrid abuse also known as 'customer service' these days as I am. Datasafe is a shining example of how to run a company and really care about what you are doing. When you call them you invariably get an intelligent voice that will give you the help you seek. Datasafe is a well managed and run company, and you will feel that your money is smartly spent when you choose to use their services. Their prices are competitive also...i had to go through a quoting process with at least 3 of their competitors to get approval for services, and although they were not the cheapest, the cost difference was minimal and the service was at least 10 notches above. I cant RECALL the other company name we were forced to initially choose because of spending guidelines, but the trouble we had with the other company did not justify the pennies we saved making that mistake. bottom line: go with Datasafe and be secure and happy!! read more

The result of a records purge was about four bankers boxes of documents that needed shredding. They couldn't be just dumped/recycled as they contained old tax returns, various transaction documents and the like. DataSafe was easy to drop off the material for shredding and the most cost effective option for me. Others charge by the pound (understandably so) but I had no idea of the poundage and the likely cost. Enter DataSafe, they'll shred up to five bankers boxes of material for $25 (after that they have additional charges). I arrived at a little after 5pm (open til 5:30pm) so many of their staff had already left but when they rounded up the right personnel this got done easily. You can't observe the destruction process, so if that's important to you there are other providers, but I was happy to just hand this off to a professional organization known for their professional quality document destruction. read more

I had met Robin Lombard, an Account Executive with Data Safe at San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Events. When a decision was made to clear out 20 years worth of filing. etc., she was the first one I called to organize this massive shredding project. This turned into a great experience. We must have had 50 LARGE garbage bags of paper that needed to be destroyed/shred. An estimate for the bins was provided to us, the delivery of the bins was organized and pick-up arranged for the next day. After going through a nightmare with a different shred and storage company, I was hesitant to trust another company. DataSafe was able to shred all of my concerns (pun intended) about the industry and about the storage and destruction of sensitive documents. Stan Ford in particular has been the best example of what customer service and business integrity are supposed to look like. He has always been available to us for questions and continues to help us determine what our company needs in the way of shred services and storage services. The drivers are polite and quiet when they walk through the building and they arrive like clockwork every week.
