I strongly advise staying away from the Carvel Ice Cream truck. His menu clearly stated $4 for a cone, but when I ordered one for my daughter, he asked for $10, claiming it was a waffle cone -- something I never ordered. He then told me he doesn't have regular cones. Instead of informing me at the time of order, he waited until the cone was already made. Since my daughter was there, I paid for it, but the ice cream didn't even taste like Carvel. I later saw him pull the same scam on another father. As for the fair itself, there really wasn't much to do, and the organization was terrible. They had a tethered balloon ride that didn't work, yet they happily sold tickets to everyone. When they realized the balloon wasn't working, they refused to issue refunds until the crowd got upset, and they were eventually forced to. They only take cash, and it was $30 per person for a broken ride. Eventually, the hot air balloons run by the professionals went up, but overall, the event wasn't worth it. They really need better organization and communication. I won't be returning.

Entertainment by the starlet dancers. Parking well organized. Fireworks and balloon show lights were great! It's an event I go to yearly and each year it's better. Only con would be the porter potty's lol.

I've been to numerous inaugural music festivals, with varying degrees of success. This was the…read morefirst inaugural, 1-day festival that I had been to, which lets face it- has got to be much easier to pull off than a 3-day. Plus, the festival was at a regional airport, so there wasn't really traffic/city/infrastructure issues to deal with either. But a success nonetheless... Obviously, the main draw for any music festival is the music. SoS Fest was put on by Radio Woodstock (same crew that puts on Mountain Jam), to celebrate their 35th year, so you'd expect a similar genre'd festival- and that is to say Rock/Southern Rock/Folk. 2015 was headlined by The Avett Brothers, with a bill that also included Hot Tuna, and Chris Robinson Brotherhood, to name a few. For me, it was all about the Avett Brothers and the $55 ticket was worth seeing them (2.5 hour set) alone. The sound here was great. There was a quarantined off area of GA for people to put their chairs/blankets, then the rest was standing room. It was super easy to get close for the headliner, as I think a lot of families left by then (children 10 and under were free). I had never been so close to the stage for Avett Brothers before, and it was kind of surreal. There were ample porto-potties. Food was supplied by local Hudson Valley vendors, and was pretty good. There were also local artisans selling goods throughout the festival as well as activities for children. There were a fair amount of kids running about (almost enough to be a buzzkill) as a lot of parents neglected to keep their children in check. All in all, I really enjoyed this festival, but in all honesty, it was really just an Avett Brothers concert for me; the other acts were great, but it was just a glorified concert IMO. Either way, if they have Avett on the bill next year, I'll surely make the 2+ hour trek from NYC once again.

Spent the afternoon here today. It's a growing festival, so there are growing pains, but all in…read moreall a lot of fun. There is a line of tents from different vendors on the main drag. At each end is entertainment, one end had a kid zone with pony rides and bouncy houses, the other end had a guy giving helicopter rides. The helicopter was annoying at times, since it buzzed the festival, but otherwise not too bad. no idea how much it cost, we were there for the cupcakes. In the middle was a stage with pretty cool bands, and some food trucks. Prices were ok, but the LINES WERE WAY TOO LONG because there were only 3 or 4 trucks. We had BBQ from Handsome Devil BBQ. Pretty decent food, pulled pork and ribs were authentic bbq. they also had other stuff including mac and cheese and chicken fingers which hit the spot. Odd thing was that you could only buy drinks from one vendor, so you had to wait on multiple lines. They had portajohns with hand washing stations outside, and they were all kept pretty clean. and there were tons of garbage cans everywhere, so you were never at a loss for one. There were lot's of tasty cupcakes from a ton of vendors. More than we could sample. the ones we tried were all good, but after a while, even for a guy with a sweet tooth, its all a bit too much. The cupcakes were pricey - $3 each. The parking was a little hectic, and the roads were dusty, so when cars went by it raised this huge cloud of dust, but other than that it was a great day.

So much fun! Cupcakes are awesome! Great day with lots of vendors! Highly recommend it!read more
