Una ves al años vamos a camping a san Gorgonio campground, nos encanta la tranquilidad del lugar, los baños siempre limpios, muy recomendado.

Stood at site 20. Was fortunate to snag a spot due to a cancellation. Couldn't be happier. Camp hosts did a great job enforcing noise controls after hours. Had no issues with loud music from surrounding camps. The spot was spacious, picnic table shaded under a tree and nice spread. We were able to back up a Ford Ranger in the driveway and setup a privacy canvas and a picnic table and still have plenty of room. Bathrooms were clean, showers worked but cold water. The camp host warned us of a recent bear siting w 2 baby cubs so we were extra diligent to use the bear lockers and toss our trash each night. We didn't have any encounters thankfully. There are trails around and a lake to explore. My husband did some mountain bike riding. Highly recommend and will be back.

Camp hosts Patricia and Scott were friendly and helpful. Restrooms were kept clean and we had a nicely shaded site with ample space for four adults and two kiddos (4 and 8). The only reasons it is not a five star review is because the showers are only solar powered so once the sun set, no more warm showers. Unfortunately, there was a group that started playing loud country music from their lifted pickup truck at around midnight. Aside from that we had an awesome time eating s'mores and stargazing.

After lots of research we finally found that San Gorgonio had a group campsite for a very reasonable price $67/night. We live camping and we were so happy with how spacious the group campsite was it was also very clear so we got to see the stars at night the group campsite had two picnic tables, two food lockers to store food in at night. It also had great views. Site 48 is pretty close to the restroom and not too far from the exit which is where the showers were located. The camp host also drives around in a golf cart if you need firewood to purchase so bring cash if needed. We stayed 3 nights and we will definitely be going back! This weekend of October 7th it was very cold at night but warm during the day if you weren't under the shade so pack shorts but also plenty of blankets for the night. Quite hours were from 10pm-6am and they had plenty of trash bins and one recycle bin towards the front of the campsite by the host. If you're looking for a great woodsy campsite definitely recommend.

Great getaway for the weekend especially during COVID. Easily booked on recreation.gov and the sites are spaced fairly well. The host is located in front right, and they sell fire wood if needed! Only $8 a bundle. They do burn out pretty quickly. Pros: + clean bathrooms + only 2 hours from la county + lots of hiking Cons - showers are currently closed

Beautiful area, beautiful campground and it's very well kept. Respect the rules and you'll have a great time :)

This campsite is about 30 mins south of Big Bear lake. It's great that they have a camp host on site who I saw often in his golf cart going around the 54 sites, but he does not enforce noise or lights off rules. I went to the bathroom at 11:30pm one night and our neighbor's were being so loud with music & their fire still on! They stayed up and were being noisy till about 1am. I thought a camp host would at least come by and tell people to turn off their music or fire but I guess not. Our neighbors were noisy with their music the whole 2 nights we were there....was pretty annoying but what can you do. Our group did a hike that started at site 33 along the Santa Ana river which was ok. This 8 mile hike took us to another campsite and then we decided to walk along the road back. Wasn't too impressed. This place does get three stars for having nice big clean private shower rooms w/ hot high pressured water but that's about it. The bathrooms were also very clean and used motion sensors lights at night so you don't have to use a flash light once inside the restroom. There were no electricity outlets at this campground. Also no street lights or lights period near your site, which can be taken as a good or bad thing. Expected more but left feeling OK.

Campsite #33 lots of rocks and not enough sun shade and this site is at a slope, also plenty of yellow Jackets flying around

This was my second camping trip and it was super fun!!!! The only thing they need to do is update the photos on the website because I got catfished!! In the photos it looked grassier and when we arrived it's just a bunch of dirt and rocks and the campsite was on a hill. Make sure you bring a canopy to enjoy eating in because this campsite is surrounded by a bunch of meat eating wasp nests and makes it impossible to enjoy doing anything.

Great place to go camping! They have bathrooms that flush lol. Running water, but it was ice cold!!! Showers were closed. It was beautiful, we could see the snow on the mountains from our campsite. Really cool trails that were easy to walk. We did find fresh bear poop, so be careful! Everyone was really quite too. If you bring music, it has to be off by 10pm.

    Campsite #36, lots is shade.

Campsite #36, lots is shade. Walking distance to bathrooms. 8 miles from the general store off hwy 38. Campground was full (camping is the only thing to do during all this pandemic propaganda) but camp host is awesome and friendly. Ask about the rock garden. Come up and escape all the mask BS and enjoy your life.

The holidays are always great weekends to go camping. We normally head to AZ to see family but my youngest isn't one yet and we didn't want to travel so far with him. The campsites book up to 6 months in advance. Our usual site at Green Valley was booked up. That was my fault. It was on my calendar, but I should have set an alarm for it. Camping has become increasingly popular over the last few years in my opinion. People are looking for ways to escape the city on a budget. I tried to get more of my family to commit but they didn't until last minute which is why we wound up at San Gorgonio. I asked fellow Yelpers which sites they liked and what was in the area as far as fishing, etc. Even though the nearby lake was stocked a few weeks before our arrival, we didn't catch anything. We went Memorial Weekend and I was taken back as to how cold it was. We always bring extra blankets. And thank goodness we did because it was in the 30's and we were freezing. In the daytime it was in the high 70's, low 80's. The campground itself didn't have as much shade as I was hoping. And some of the sites were really close together. I can't tell you where we stayed, but I will say that several families came up to us and said we had the best spot. The showers here are free. I just wish people were more considerate on how much time they spent in there. This one kid, I say kid as in early teens was in there over an hour. I would recommend taking water socks or flip flops when you shower. The floors get pretty wet. The bathrooms were well maintained, but there was no soap. We brought our own soap, air freshener, tp, and towels to dry our hands. I've been at nicer campgrounds. But I will say that there weren't as many flies here as in lower elevations. That was a big plus. I did get stung in the neck by a bee. LOL. So do watch out for those. Also, if you have more than 2 cars they charge $5 a night per car. Make sure to take plenty of wood. The only place we found wood in town was Stater Brothers. Home Depot, and Walmart are only seasonal. You can purchase wood at the campground, but it's cheaper to buy it closer to home.

    Are the showers still closed?

We have reservations for this weekend and just got a notification that showers are closed do to limited water supply. Sorry, a year late response :)

We drove up to check out the campgrounds, sites were in great shape and we can't wait to stay there. We were a little concerned about all of the rattlesnake warning signs…

The signs are NOT just a warning. When it gets warm, the snakes come out. Last summer we were on our way back from a hike and our dog alerted to us a rattlesnake. It was heading straight for someones cs. Fortunately they have great hosts at the… Read more

Will a 35 foot trailer fit?

Depends on the site but the length of the parking pad should be listed on recreation.gov.

How much does the camp host sale wood for now it's been a little bit since I've been up there?

    $8 a bundle

    Is this campground pet friendly?

    Yes

We reserved a campsite for August 3-5 but was wondering if there's an additional person , will that be an extra charge ? Our reservation is for 8 people 2 cars . And will it be okay if the other half of the group come the next day (sat)? Thanks

Yes, the other half can show up later. You just need to pay $7 per night for the extra car. Remember to tell the camp host this on the first day. Regarding the extra person. Just don't say anything unless he asks. In that case just say you have 8.… Read more

Can you use Generators? I have a Trailer with a separate generator.

Yes. Only from 7 am to 10 pm. But be courteous to your neighbors.

Is swimming allowed at Jenks lake or just fishing and enjoying the views?

No swimming. Fishing, picniking, kayaks are okay and non motorized boats. You can wade in the river though.

I do see that they allow 2 cars per campsite, and theres an additional fee for the 3rd & 4th car. My question, is a permit required for the additional cars, and where do additional cars park? Is there an overflow parking area?

Ok, on a single site, one vehicle is included with campsite. Any vehicles over will be $7 per vehicle. On a double site, 2 vehicles are included. If the extra vehicle fits on the site driveway, then it can be parked at the site. Otherwise it… Read more

Do I have to make a reservation or can I just show up set up and pay for a site?

If there are some available you can pay the camp host when you're there.. but if it's full you would have to check another campground. Luckily there are a lot around the area..

I didn't receive a confirmation email but I did screenshot my confirmation page, I've tried calling the number provided to make sure it's reserved under my name. Does anyone know a way of getting through the line is always busy?

Just bring your screen shot, if u dont have that we should have the info for you. What are the dates? I can check for you

I have a 34' motor home and I'm hoping someone can tell me how the road is to and from Orange County to San Gorgonia state park. I am afraid of heights and Hoping there aren't any steep drop offs beside the road. Can anybody help a girl out?

Highway 38 is probably the easiest road to big bear. Some curves but no real hairpin turns. Probably your best bet.

Flush toilets and free showers available (both are generally clean with adequate hot water to shower with, and you'll see the "off duty" host clean them every day, but their condition will be highly dependent on your neighbors). There are a few hiking trail options during your stay: from inside the campground, if you follow the trail by the entrance/the hosts' RVs, to the right, a quick scurry across the highway, there's a mile long hike up to Jenks Lake. If you go left, you'll go through a few other campsites, then an amphitheater, and then an overlook area with a picnic table. There are a few loops in the trees behind the campgrounds, but I'm not sure where they lead as I just turned around eventually. The east loop (1-22) feels more spread out and private although there aren't really too many decent places to hang a hammock in most spots. The west loop (23+) feels a little closer together (but also not bad) with a lot more trees for shade and to hang hammocks. The west loop also tends to have more RVs and generator users for whatever reason though. I've mostly stayed on the east loop and would suggest bringing a canopy for shade. Even though the temperature may not seem that high, the sun is HOT, and is a little unbearable around 1 PM - 3 PM. Surprisingly, bugs are mostly a non issue even in the summer. Bundles of firewood for sale if conditions allow. $10 a bundle as of 07/2025 cash only. Expect each bundle to last about an hour. The host will go around selling however many fits on their cart or you can just drive your car up to the active host and fill your trunk. Big Bear is also a 30 minute drive away.

There were two dumpster sites a short walk away, and a parking space large enough for our 2 cars (crossover/ hatchback). The potable water pump was also closely accessible across the road.
