4.5 stars because they dont have a bathroom (it's really a take out place with 3 tables in the front). I do love a small town Chinese restaurant and the food here did not disappoint. I had my usual tofu with veggies. The portion was big, sauce was nice and garlicky with a good variety of veggies and ,surprisingly, fresh tofu instead of the usual frozen/fried you see in most places. Happy that I can begin the new year by writing a positive review for a small place. This is definitely your typical American Chinese restaurant, from the food to the decor. I don't normally feel a need to write reviews for these kinds of places, but the lady at the cashier (one of the owners?) was so nice and friendly that I want to support her. Maybe knowing that I might have expectations for Chinese food, she was careful to let know what might taste more characteristically Chinese or not, like the spicy tofu being more sweet than mapo tofu spicy because it uses the orange chicken sauce. Dumplings were good but definitely Americanized, with the wrapping really thick. Good for traveling and reheating though, as the dough is unlikely to disintegrate. The sauce was a surprising bonus--it is actually very Chinese, with ginger and scallions added to the soy sauce. read more

Food was above average. Service was below average, specifically gentleman at the window forgot to add one of my dishes to the order. I even marked it on the menu and gave it to him. This occurred today (Friday) at around 3:30 pm. Not very busy. So check your orders carefully! read more

Very disappointing. Warning: if you order a combo, they won't ask you for your soup or appetizer choice, you must remember - if you don't, your order will be incomplete and they will blame it on you for not telling them. Instead of what every other Chinese place says: oh sorry, what would you like so I can add it to your order? I am unaccustomed to leaving negative feedback on any business but this was so drastic I had to post. It's been about a year since I have been to San Ho. Last time I had beef and broccoli and it was delicious. It had slices of real beef on the top. What I ordered today was unrecognizable. The "beef"looked like blobs of fat and in no way resembled meat. I ended up picking it all out and throwing it away. The remaining broccoli and fried rice were bland. Something has changed and I will not be returning. I wonder if they have new management and are cutting corners. Very sad, indeed. read more

Best Chinese food in Norwich, which really doesn't say a lot, and yet it does! Definitely not like the Chinese you can get "down state," but nothing can beat the food you can get down there! This place is consistent, which is what all restaurants should be. I get the General Tso tofu, which they custom make for me. The fact that they do that says a lot! The food is fresh, and never greasy. Did I mention that they deliver? That really works out great during the winter!! I highly recommend this Chinese place! My BF swears by it and orders it every week when he pulls a 12 hour at the hospital. Definitely give this place a try! read more

The food was really fresh and they were very accommodating with a friend of mine who is vegan. Great food and great service.

We've been ordering from San Ho for about 5 years now. Always a good meal, and we've been trying new things. About 6 months ago, we tried Mongolian chicken, and it was really good-charred, grilled flavor on all the ingredients and a little heat that passed quickly. The savory/sweet/char-grilled balance was truly a delight. We've ordered the same, and the beef a few times since then, and we've enjoyed those meals as well. Last Friday, we ordered both the chicken and beef. This time, the meals were too hot to be tolerated. The burn just built and built, and lasted forever. Couldn't eat more than a few bites. How can we order something 4-5 times and enjoy it so thoroughly, then have it be suddenly inedible? Consistency is what customers come back for. I will not be trying San HO again. After eating a small part of what I ordered, my husband and i decided to throw the rest in the garbage can. The Walnut Chicken were small bits of chicken (i hope) with a ton of soggy breading around them, fried to end up looking like bits of walnuts and they were in a vaguely sweet sauce with no flavor -yuck. Our other dish was Moo Shu veg and it was overcooked, brownish with no veggies that were fresh looking , it was very mildly spiced but also a bit sweet. They did cook the white rice with out a problem. it was a very unappetizing meal and both dishes were from their hunan szechuan- not cheap- dishes. Skip it. LM read more

Food was great in all ways. Tasty, spicy, veggies done with a little snap, chicken clean and cooked just right. Big portions. Very, very friendly staff. Ambience is not so great. Clean enough I suppose. But counter ordering and just plain cafeteria tables. Plastic utensils (really!!!?) and had to ask for napkins.
