I was driving through Oneonta and came across Simply Thai, so I decided to give it a shot. I'm glad I did. It's a quaint spot in a quaint town, and honestly, I went in with tempered expectations. I figured it might not compare to the elevated, flavorful Thai food I'm used to in Los Angeles. But I was pleasantly surprised. What stood out to me most was the hospitality. I had accidentally ordered the wrong item and needed to cancel it, and the staff was incredibly kind and flexible about removing it. That level of graciousness really leaves an impression. The house salad was so good, I genuinely wished it came as a full main dish. I also had the vegan mock chicken Penang curry, and that absolutely did not disappoint. It was flavorful, satisfying, and worth ordering again. If you're in Oneonta and craving something a little different, I would absolutely recommend Simply Thai. Parking is down the street a bit unless you get lucky enough to get one of the 3 spots out front on the busy road. I was seated right away and after was poured. I like a little heart in my Thai food but I also like to taste it. The server said the 1-5 levels start a bit spicy. I typically order 3 so she suggested 2.i had the pork green curry level 2 and it was perfect for me. It took about 5 minutes to get to my table and I had to let it cool before I could eat it. There was not a lot of pork and could not taste the coconut milk at all. So the curry was kind of bland. It was okay, just bland. The restrooms are small and awkward but like the rest of the place it was clean. I wouldn't work as hard as I did to find parking to come here again. Ate there last night and everything was outstanding. I had the fried vegetable appetizer with sweet chili sauce and it was hot plentiful and delicious. I had rad prick. The fish was incredibly crispy outside and still moist and perfectly cooked inside. The accompanied fried peppers and onions were still a little crispy, and the sweet-and-sour sauce was perfectly balanced. All that was covered by a handful of deep-fried holy basil leaves. All the dishes were tasty and distinct. They will make to your spicy level, which is nice. There were lots of take out orders but they were very prompt and timely with our dishes. We shared family style and the waitress said it reminded her of home. Since we shared dishes, the waitress asked if she could bring them out as they became ready. Which lead to a stream of dishes being presented pipping hot from the kitchen. Off menu was the special dessert that day..Thai tea crème brûlée...two thumbs up for sure! Great place for families. Visiting Oneonta during baseball season and found this place. We were help fairly quickly by host and lead the way to our table. Place has a more upscale vibe to it so I appreciate the extra effort. We ordered 2 appetizers that came out super fast! Which made me think how fresh is this food?! But it was great! Veggies rolls could use more vegetables lol but over all good. We also ordered Calamari which very tender and not over fried. It was as great! I decided to go with a spicy chicken salad. 10 for efforts because of their presentation!! It was good but nothing to go crazy over. The "spicy" dressing wasn't spicy at all. Not sure if you can ask for the spicy level but I wasn't ask. But the peanut spicy dressing was ok. The Ambiance was also pretty great with dimmed lights and music in the background. I ordered the spicy wings, the tom kha soup with shrimp, a salad with the warm peanut dressing and the red snapper rad prik. Easily one of the best meals I've ever had in a very long time. Can be a bit pricey, but you get 2 meals out of one order, so you always have leftovers to look forward to. Beware of the spicy, staff will warn you. Pros: Delicious dishes, has good lunch special portions and prices for college kids, good location, cute plates, delicious food, has a bathroom, near the OPT main stop, and has outlets along the window seats. Cons: I've called for delivery 2 times and was told that there was no one to deliver stuff because they needed to be trained. What better way of training than by practicing though? Also, they're closed on Wednesdays so there were a few times where we wrote down what everyone wanted and couldn't get Thai. No A/C in the summer. Remind you, We are in the middle of the pandemic and winter break in a college town. So it's very slow and very quiet here. My husband and I came here for a few days to escape the city and enjoy the mountains. My husband called this place for take out and while on the phone he was asking them questions about the menu. We already knew what we wanted to order, but at some point he turned to ask me which level spiciness I wanted. The lady on the phone told him to figure out what he wants and give him a call back. Always passed by this place, finally got to try it. It was busy on a Monday Evening. I'm used to nyc Thai, this was just as good. We had the spring rolls as an appetizer. The Tom Yum soup is a fav of mine and was excellent. I got the vegetable drunken noodles as my main. I asked for a level 3.5/5 for spicy. It was flavorful but I felt I could have went up a level. I just wish more broccoli came with the drunken noodles. I felt it was mostly carrots and onions. The owner explained everything will come out as it's ready.
