What could improve? . Exactly ! food service and ambience. This place used to be at least a 4 out of 10 on occasion and now it's a negative. And I only return because the Oneonta area is very, very lacking in decent food and ambience is really hard to come by. It's definitely hit or miss with this place. I went here tonight and everything was awful! I got happy family and beef and broccoli. The brown sauce tasted like they thickened water and colored it brown. The rice (upgraded to house rice) had no flavor, it tasted like white rice with some meat and veggies in it. My combo was also full 3/4 with rice and 1/4 entree. My general Tsos was also tasteless. The egg rolls weren't even any good. Not to mention they have upped the price nearly three dollars a combo and now don't even include soup. I probably won't be eating here again any time soon. It was a total waste of $55! I want to say this is the best Chinese restaurant in the area, but the truth is, we are so happy with this place that we haven't bothered to try any others. The interior is cozy and cheerful, and they also deliver (!!) generous servings of fresh, piping hot, delicious food! As a vegetarian, I find so many different offerings to choose from, my brain almost gets gridlocked trying to decide between them. For a random place in upstate New York, where good Chinese places can't be found + mindful this is during COVID season, this spot wasn't bad. 4 stars for COVID considerations and pleasant during my interaction. No roaches nor griminesss was observed. 3) They take cash and card, which is always a plus for paying options. 4) I ordered beef chow fun = 3 ... If things are bad, it's either too salty or not salty enough. I guess add salt or soy sauce if not salty enough. You're damned if it's too salty. Although this was in the middle and not bad, it was missing that char and wok-hei. 5) Wife had gotten the chicken lo mein with pork fried rice. She said it was decent @ 3+, but said the fried rice was missing the scrambled egg. 6) Father in law had the roast pork egg foo young. He asked why was the sauce red, which I obviously don't have the answer for. He ate a 3rd and didn't finish his order but said it was edible and there was some tanginess that's not usually present. 7) I also had the hot and sour soup, which I'll give a 3. Taste was ok with savoriness and heat level but was missing the black vinegar taste. Besides the liquid, there was only 3-4 strips of tofu. Where was the wood ear and other goodies? 8) Service was relatively fast, about less than 10 minutes after order 9) Boatload of parking. There's more parking than available seating inside the restaurant. 10) They speak better than passing English and Mandarin I guess I miss having Chinese food so the thought to take pics of my food was forgotten - I'm not sorry. We were so grateful to see the open sign after we pulled off the highway in a blizzard. It's a family owned and run neighborhood restaurant, and it looked like the folks hard at work in the kitchen, while a polite child kept himself busy on his snow day. Ambiance is old school and kitschy. We had never been so happy to have a bowl of warm soup, and a hot pot of tea. It looks like the wontons might have been hand wrapped. Service was quick, despite a brisk take-out business they were doing. Our favorite thing was SO MANY FRESH VEGETABLES, nice and crisp. I got the chicken broccoli, my husband had the beef with oyster sauce. We didn't totally love the sauces, which tasted pre-made. My so LOVED his lo mien and friend rice. This is the best Chinese food I've had here. I've tried china 19 once, and ended up throwing that out. I've only done pick up so I can't vouch for delivery or eat-in. It's always less than 10 minutes to be ready and very tasty. The people are very nice as well. I think, like most people, once you find a Chinese restaurant you like, it's hard to try another. The one time I did was because it was the day that they normally are closed, and it did not work out well for me. read more

This place has been here since I was a young child, the inside hasn't changed much at all in 25 years! I've reciently ordered there a few times in the last month or so and I must say it's been really good, I know they had different owners a few times after the Lee's(now retired) leased it out...but whoever is cooking now is doing a great job! The food here is pretty good. Good Schezuan Style Dumplings, good Chow Fun Noodles, good Home Style Tofu, good Dry Sauteed String Beens, good Spring Vegetable Rolls. The dishes with heavy sauces tend to be too heavy, but that is true of a lot of American Chinese restaurants. read more

I have eaten here twice now and both times were good. We've ordered Beef & mixed veggies, veggie rice noodles, spicy dumplings, veggie egg foo young and General Tso chicken. They used a great variety of veggies that seemed fresh ( no rubbery canned mushrooms here), the chicken was moist and not over cooked and most importantly itall tasted good. The husband and wife always go out of their way to make my meal enjoyable. The chow ma fun (rice noodles) are always perfect firm and flavorful. Eggdrop soup is rich and always hot. Fried rice could use a little salt or soy sauce. Pepper steak (on the luncheon) has green peppers and onions in a delicious brown sauce w/ the flank steak thin and perfectly cooked. The shrimp and lobster sauce is not traditional (they do not use ground pork in their sauce which is the usual way to make this dish), all the fresh local veggies are firm and the shrimps are jumbo, it is a nice change. Please remember that on their lunch specials the price is very reasonable for Oneonta so if you want more meat or shrimp you will pay more. After the disaster that I found at the other Chinese restaurants in the area (Ming moon in Delhi, China 19 had the worst waitstaff and their food was not consistent to name just a couple), # 1 was a most welcome change. read more

We were in town for a few days and wanted Chinese food. We have been told about this place from relatives. We went on a Sunday night and we were the only ones there. We then had a very bizarre experience The server took our order and when the food arrived, we had no plates She then brought two plates when there were three of us. Later she brought the check and left the restaurant. The cook was still there and did not bother to collect the money.
