Been here a few times. Each time gets worse. Ordered a lunch special for 6.99 that came with guacamole. I asked for beef and also asked if the guacamole could be substituted for sour creme and was told yes. First irritation: When I received my food - it was not correct. Ok, they corrected it. No problem. Second irritation: When receiving my ticket noticed it stated 7.99. The waitress took the ticket back to correct (she acknowldedged that it should have been 6.99) but was directed to add a $1.00 for the sour creme instead of just correcting my ticket. I am assuming by the owner. I guess losing a customer is worth that 1.00. And the fact my order was messed up and had to be refixed, they should have just given me the sour creme. Last time coming here. And I had others with me. Left a bad impression on them too. May have lost several customers over $1.00. read more

First time trying San Joes, also my last. We got the table side guacamole and the people who came out to make it looked miserable. Very uncomfortable. We also ordered the street corn, it was bland which seemed to be the theme for the night. The carnita and barria tacos had no flavor. However the baja tacos were actually good. The mojito tasted like lemonade with no actual alcohol. Our actual server was friendly but seemed to be new, confused on what was what. Wow impressed! We have lived in Florida for 2-1-2 years and we miss the Mexican food in CA. Staying night here in Albany Georgia and had GrubHub deliver food from SanJoe's. I only wish we had a place like this in Florida. Very tasty and just the right proportion. Ordered the carnitas for me and chimichangas for husband. Just wish I had received a couple tortillas but no big deal. Even the salsa was good. Thank you so much San Joe's. So great to have good Mexican food. I loved my experience at this San Joe's! It is significantly better than the Dawson GA location! Because of COVID-19, all staff were wearing masks properly, as well as spreading customers out throughout the large restaurant. I had the Williams Chicken special. It was amazing! It's chicken, onions, and vegetables, with cheese dip, served over rice. Heaven! Everything was cooked to perfection! The cheese dip is also great!! Food 4, service 2 I had the taco salad and it was AMAZING. My husband had a taco & enchilada and thought it was good. We also ordered the tees leches cake and were not impressed. We sent it back and then had to fight with the "manager" to get it off our bill. She even laughed/mocked my husband when he went to her to talk about it. He had to go to her. Add a $3.00 soft drink and imagine what kind of kids meal a child can get for $20.00. The small margarita was good and reasonably priced but the cheese dip, (which was billed as large and was medium sized at best) was $13!! My brother and I along with other family and friends have eaten here quite a few times. The food and service has always been okay enough for us to come back but not after today. There was a bug in my tequila sunrise. The waitress verified it with me. Asked me did I want the same drink or another kind. I said it didn't matter either the tequila sunrise again or a strawberry margarita with Quervo. She brings me a 27oz margarita and I thought dang maybe I got a bigger drink bc of the bug in the other drink. Wrong...they charged us $16 for the drink when the other drink that had the bug in it was like $9. Asked the waitress why we was charged for a big drink that I didn't ask for. The manager came out and acted like he didn't know what was going on. Saying I couldn't get a different drink from the one I originally ordered. Okay so why did the waitress not tell me that. Wish I could put zero stars. Flew here from California with an insane amount of work to do. Called in advance to see if they had WiFi. The manager confirmed that they did. Showed up, ordered, received a watered down margarita with ice filled up to the brim and found out very shortly after that there was no WiFi (ever). Food was already on the way and I already received my drink so I decided to just wait for the food, finish quickly and try to find WiFi elsewhere. Food arrived within less than 10minutes. Fantastic timing for a McDonalds, disconcerting for a sit-down restaurant. The result of the timing was obvious. Low-budget paper thin piece of meat labeled as "t-bone steak" over-cooked, loaded with massive chunks of fat and tougher than a lacrosse ball. The "guacamole" salad had a tablespoon-sized brownish goo of avocado buried in past-due iceberg lettuce and mushed tomato and there was a very strange soup with random ingredients including chunks of very cheap quality hotdog. Upon request, the manager (Tony) eventually showed up. He had a baggy blue shirt on, large unkept beard (while handling food) and pants hanging below his waste. When I told him the situation, he offered nothing more than an apology and a hand shake and walked away. Surprised by the events that took place, I took my first sip of the water, and nearly vomited in my mouth. Tasted like the smell of toilet water. Albany has a few delicious places to eat. Unfortunately, San Joe's Mexican Cantina & Grill is not one of them. read more

Newer restaurant in Albany! We waited a few weeks for the crowds to thin. We had been watching their renovation of our old Logan's building and really looks great! Some nice options on the menu and their medium margarita is a BIG medium! I had a chipotle chicken burrito with rice. Since I love the beans, I paid extra for a side. I didn't care for their very standard chips and salsa . The burrito was good and I enjoyed the beans had a bit of spice but rice was dry. Our waitress, Hope, did a good job and was friendly and efficient. Not blown away by this place, will probably visit again soon. read more

As a plant based vegan, Mexican is a go to when I'm out of town. I have been to the food truck but my companions wanted to order from the restaurant. I simply wanted two vegetable tacos. They wanted to charge me $4 for each one! The same tacos are $2 each on the food truck. I really don't understand how they can justify charging so much for a few veggies in a taco shell and the manager couldn't figure out how to make it happen. read more

As a carryout customer, I ordered 3 items from the menu, using a gift certificate and paying the rest on my card. For some reason, I was never given a receipt by the host or manager who checked me out, and she (the manager) almost sent me off without my food. I had to tell her that I was paying for food that hadn't been made. Meanwhile, the wait time was not bad, but I was in a hurry. I left without checking the bag, and when I arrived to my destination, I checked the bag and saw I was missing one of the items. To my dismay, I called the restaurant twice. They picked up both times (as I was able to hear the music, but no one spoke) and hung up both times. Now, I was frustrated and headed back to the restaurant. I was met with a young, unpleasant hostess who did not even greet me when I entered, and instead of asking me if I needed assistance, she opted to chat with her male coworker. I made my way to the host who had checked me out and told him about my missing item. He apparently had some type of amnesia, claiming he did not know I ordered that "extra item". The manager who came to assist earlier showed up as well, and I repeated myself. She offered to look in the system and found that I had only ordered two items. I said once more that I ordered the third item because the total came up more than the $15 gift certificate. The manager seemed to notice I was a little upset, so she asked me if I wanted to order the burrito. I told her I was not going to pay again for an item that I had already paid for yet did not receive. Then she said some "keeping the customer happy" gibberish, claiming she will give me a free burrito. Fine. I waited, and I started totaling up the order: 7.25+2.50+4.95=14.70 14.70+.75 (carryout fee is 0.25, per item)=15.45 15.45*1.07 (tax)=16.53 When the manager brought out my order, I asked for a new receipt, because she did not give me one the first time. I also told her that I did not receive a "free burrito" because I paid for it the first time. She said I was right, and supposedly made up something about taking away the carryout fee (which she did not, as shown by the calculations above). I was so fed up with her lies, I just took my receipt and left. This is a really sad, first-time experience at San Joe's, and unless the owner/operator makes this situation better, I'm really sorry to say, but I don't think I'll come back here anytime soon.
