I went to this restaurant to pick up a DoorDash order, and upon arrival was told that the restaurant had not received the order. Rather than calmly asking me to clarify or assisting in resolving the issue, the front-desk employee--a large male staff member--became verbally aggressive, yelled at me, and behaved in a threatening manner, as though he was attempting to intimidate or provoke a confrontation. This behavior was completely unprofessional, unacceptable, and made me feel unsafe as a customer. I was treated with hostility for an issue that was not my fault. No customer should ever feel threatened when attempting to pick up an order. Due to this incident, I will not return to this establishment and cannot recommend it, particularly to Black customers who deserve to be treated with respect and safety. I expect this complaint to be taken seriously and addressed appropriately. read more

I'm only giving this place a three, instead of a one, because my companions all enjoyed their meals. I did not. I ordered a combination plate that included a tostada, taco, and beans and rice. I ordered ground beef, but was brought chicken. They offered to replace it. The ground beef ended up being taco meat. I don't like taco meat. I couldn't eat it and they didn't offer to replace it with anything else. They way they saw it, they brought me "beef" just like I had ordered. However, today I had an experience with service that I couldn't condone or ignore. I've spent 10 years in the food service industry, including time as a host, and I am a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. I know exactly how a front-of-house should operate. What I experienced here today was not a "busy mistake"--it was a blatant display of bias. As a Black man standing in the lobby, I was repeatedly looked at by a waiter walking back and forth. I was never acknowledged. However, the moment a white female customer walked in, that same waiter bypassed me entirely to hand her menus and seat her immediately. He then returned to his business, continuing to ignore my presence. It is deeply insulting to see a Marine Corps flag hanging on the wall of this establishment as a badge of "veteran support" while a veteran of color is treated as invisible. You cannot claim to honor those who serve while simultaneously making them feel like second-class citizens in your place of business. I did bring this to the manager's attention, and while she seemed empathetic, empathy doesn't fix a culture where staff feels comfortable prioritizing customers based on race. To my fellow veterans and the Black community: be aware that the flags on the wall here don't necessarily reflect the respect you'll receive at the table. read more

I stopped in here for a quick lunch on my way from Orlando, Florida to Birmingham, Alabama. I was seated and my order was taken and the food came pretty quick. As for the obligatory chips and salsa, I found the salsa rather bland and would not be surprised to find that it was store bought. Actually, I would be surprised to find that it wasn't. The same could be said for the chips and as the meal progresses, the entire meal. For my entree, I had the lunch special # 5, which was a burrito, an enchilada and a taco. The ground beef in them all was blamd and unseasoned. There was a speck or two of onion, but it looks like somebody just browned off a bunch of ground beef and used it in every entree they have. So basically my lunch was a bunch a ground beef put in a couple different kinds of flour. I will say the taco, which was a hard shell, had a bit of cheese on the top of it, but for the rest, it was just the ground beef. They did put some very bland sauces on top of the burrito and enchilada, once again, I would be surprised if it was not store bought. Shelbey, my server, was fantastic and the high point of an otherwise very disappointing meal. Honestly, I feel I would have had a more Mexican authentic experience at Taco Bell. read more

I will put my name behind that the food here is made with the best quality ingredients and even the simplest dishes are better than what others offer. I did not know rice and beans, two staples of any Hispanic restaurant, could taste as good as they did here. I had a steak with onions and jalapenos smothered in one of the best cheese dips I have ever had. It was amazing from start to finish. Now, the server I had was timely, accurate and friendly. He, however, threw me off by asking like 5-7 questions for everything I ordered. I ordered a corona and a shot of house tequila. A simple order but he asked if the type of tequila was ok, asked if I wanted it in a shot glass, asked how much I expected, asked again the type of tequila, and then walked away and came back to clarify I wanted a shot of tequila. Then he went away again and wanted to know if I wanted a lime. He came back a again after this wanting to know if I wanted salt on my glass. Then he came back again and wanted to make sure for the third time it was a shot and I didn't want ice. He then stands there going over his ordering pad and asks me what type of beer I wanted and I said again Corona. Finally he comes back ANOTHER time to ask if it's a regular Corona or light. Some of the questions made sense, but to ask them over the course of 15 minutes and all of a sudden I am there 20 minutes and still no drink or order in got me. It also wasn't a fluke because I got a lot more questions ordering dinner as well. Yall!! This is a gem!! We ate here during a one night pass- through stay in Albany. The food was DELICIOUS! Our group shared a pitcher of house margaritas which packed a punch and did not taste as sweet as many house mixes. With a group of 10, only 1 person did not live their meal. The tacos Al pastor were so flavorful... homemade tortillas and perfectly seasoned meat! We also had the trashcan nachos which were delicious but could not be finished due to the generous portion! Our group also had some version of the bistec, asada, chicken and shrimp... all meats received rave reviews. Even our children (ages 2-10) loves their meals including the hot dog, pizza, Mac and cheese, and soft taco. The only critique was that the asada fries were a bit dry... which was improved by adding cheese dip on top! The cheese dip and salsa were both incredibly flavorful and fresh! On top of the delicious food, the service was fantastic! We were seated quickly in a back room with several tables that can accommodate large groups. Our server, Eyanna, was perfect! Their secret menu options they had before are now on the menu but they keep surprising us with special dishes like the Pina Loca that is only available on Tuesdays, which is perfect for us because taco Tuesday is our date night. I often come to this restaurant and get the same meal because I love it (I'll do another review on that meal next time I have it) this review is for their semi new (started in October) Birria tacos! Now please understand that this was my first experience ever with this meal so I have nothing to compare to. So let's start the price with tax is $12 and some change not bad for 3 tacos, rice beans, salsa, and the Birria dip it comes with. Also even if you order take out it comes with chips and salsa. Now I do love me a good taco and I get quite adventurous (I've had all types of weird tacos) but by research these are made with a nice roast. I first tried the tacos without dipping them because I want to have a base flavor. And they were great even without anything added to them. But in true Me fashion and added lime to each taco and dipped back and forth between the spicy salsa that came with the tacos (not the chips salsa) and the Birria sauce. I was in heaven!! I'm so glad that they decided to put these permanently on the menu. You can order them Monday through Friday but not on weekends as far as I know! And as you all know I review big on staff! Every single time I go to this establishment I absolutely love the staff. They are always so nice and helpful! And I love this one server (I can't remember his name) but he has curls that's always make me want to ask what hair products he uses (curls always so bouncy and moisturized) but he is the best server there whether you're dining in or picking up a call in order he is always sweet and if I could nominate him for server of the year (since I've been at least once a month since May) it would be him! The food is good. Solid Mexican food I am rating it 4 stars for food. The service I got was good. A black guy with longer hair serviced me. He was polite and efficient. I am rating it 3 stars because I ordered a margarita and then immediately said I didn't want it. They didn't finish making the drink or give it to me and they were like "well you still have to pay for it." I literally watched her start the drink when I said I didn't it want it and a man in Spanish told her I didn't want it and she continued the drink. I thought this portion of my service was terrible. I was so disgusted and annoyed that I told my server to wrap up my guacamole Mexicano, paid, and left. I won't go back to mi casa. The food has been outstanding both times we have come here. The margaritas are loaded for sure. The vegetable fajitas the first time were yummy my wife says, and I had the Texas fajitas, which were also very good. This time we swapped it up. The carne asada was tender and well cooked. The cheese empanada is filled with queso fresco and it was gooey and delicious. My wife tried the choripollo and the flavor was really balance. Normally chorizo can be strong, but the chicken paired well. The corn tortillas are also the best I have had. I still wish they would serve elote here. I can hope. read more
