Honestly I remember taking this to San Francisco for day. The restrooms are clean. There is an ATM. The people are helpful. There are several machines there. Maps are available to take. There is also parking.

It is a bit pricier than BART ($21 RT from SJ to SF) but well worth it! Much cleaner and faster if you get a baby bullet or limited. I caught the 2:23pm and should arrive in 1 hour. I like the app as you can pay for your ride & parking ($5.50) all together. Makes it very convenient. Excellent way to go up to SF, then use ride share to go other places.

San Jose Diridon station is the major train station in San Jose. It's served by Caltrain, Amtrak (Coast Starlight and Capitol Corridor), and Altamont Corridor Express. (The VTA Light Rail Green Line also has a stop nearby, and there are several buses that stop here, including my favorite Highway 17 Express to Santa Cruz.) Caltrain technically has five stations that are within San Jose's sprawling borders--College Park, Diridon, Tamien, Capitol, and Blossom Hill--so don't get confused! I travel through this station whenever I take the train from Los Angeles to San Francisco. I take Amtrak Coast Starlight from Los Angeles Union Station to San Jose Diridon, and then I transfer to Caltrain to take me all the way to 4th and King Street. I've had no problems using this station as such. Maybe if I were a regular commuter through this station, I would grow accustomed, but for now, I am still struck by this station's beauty. It's built in the Italian Renaissance Revival style (although I feel like the interior has more of a Mission/Spanish Revival feel). It's also a nice station in that it's a staffed Amtrak station, so you can interact with a real person if you need any help with your Amtrak reservation. The one time I had to was to get a claim check for my bike, which I was checking onto the Coast Starlight. The Amtrak agent was kind, and I had no issues. Inside there are also benches so you can wait indoors, but I usually wait by the benches on the platform. I noticed in other reviews that people seemed to have issues with signage, which to be honest, I don't really get. I've found the station to be adequately signed. Like the rest of the station, even the signage on the platforms are quite beautiful in a historical sort of way. There are also modern signs in the form of screens by each platform entrance in the underground walkway, so you know what train to expect at each platform. If you're taking Coast Starlight, your train is typically at track 1, though, which does not require going to the underground walkway. Instead, you walk through some gates. Overall, I love this station a lot.

What do you to entertain yourself when you are in Covid times? You do things like taking Caltrain to downtown Palo Alto for lunch instead of driving which is about quarter the time and cost. It is a beautiful building with some history. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Good experience overall, way better than BART!

This train station's main building is comely two story structure. This Italian renaissance style building was originally built in 1935, which is pretty old taking into consideration how young the area is. It serves not only Caltrain that runs from Gilroy r San Francisco, but also ACE (Altamont Corridor Express) from San Jose to Stockton, VTA (Valley Transit Authority) which runs a light rail service in San Jose and neighboring cities), and Amtrak which has trains that go throughout California and North America. I give this space four stars because it is the center of public transportation in San Jose. The inside of the building and general condition of the platforms has improved, however it does not fit well into Silicon Valley vibe. You would expect more high tech conveniences. This may change in the future as San Jose continues to grow and serve as a hub for high tech sector.

I am reviewing the San Jose Diridon station itself, not my horrible Greyhound bus experience. It's a cool, old building- almost bank vault-like, and a little creepy at night. The uncomfortable benches seem better suited for sleeping than sitting, but at least they have chilled drinking fountains. I took a picture of the bathroom. Either the "N" was missing from "MEN", or the bathroom is one of those forward-thinking, gender-neutral types that just said "Me".

    $4 daily parking (all day).

Ask the Community - San Jose Diridon Caltrain

    Is parking free on weekends?

No you would need to buy parking at the ticket machines

Ill be goin to los angeles next month by a mega bus, is there anubody here know where is the nearest wifi i can use? because im just taking uber to get here.. reply is needed and appreciated... thanks

There is no WiFi at the station. If you are taking megabus they should have WiFi on board.

Are there late trains from San Jose to San Francisco after SAP concerts?

If I recall correctly the train is between 30 minutes to a hour after the event

How do you pay for parking if parked at SAP lots for Caltrains?

I would say ask diridon or SAP center. If your taking Caltrain I suggest parking in a lot with a Caltrain or diridon parking sign then buying a parking pass from the Automated TVM ticket machines

Hi, how is the parking situation if I get here around 6:45-7:00am weekdays? thanks in advance!

There's still plenty of parking spaces around that time.

I am using Cal Train for the first time. If I get on at the Diridon station in San Jose, what will the station name and stop be in San Francisco?

    San Francisco 4th & King

Any long time parking at this location or very nearby? Like for three to five days? Thanks.

No parking at the station is for day use only

I take Almaden Expressway all the way down there. - FREE PARKING! Which is WAY better than $4 a day at DT SJ Diridon Station. This is great since sometimes I spend the night in the city and have left my car and its been fine. - Plenty of parking. Even when you get to the station somewhat late you can park your car in the dirt area like others do. Be careful of the deep holes tho! Don't mess up your car. - Right next to VTA for those people that take the Light Rail Disadvantages: - No restrooms - It gets really deserted at times and I've seen shattered glass before (thinking someone's car got broken into) - Not all trains go to Tamien so sometimes I do have to suck it up and drive to the DT station

So looking into the cost of parking near the stadium-i I was looking at upwards of $40 to park across the street from the SAP Center-that's outrageous to me-so I knew there had to be a better way. So what I decided to do was look into the Light Rail system in the area and I realized I could park at the Bascom Rail Station-which is part of the VTA system in the area. Once parked I could catch the light rail and go 2 or 3 stops, maybe 10 minutes and it would drop me off right in front of the SAP Center and I could just walk into the stadium. Here is the good stuff-parking at the light rail station was free and the fare for the train was like $2.50. After the event-it was so easy to just walk back to the station-catch a train back to Bascom and jump in my car and off I was back to Sacramento-easy peasy. The station felt very safe-especially on a game night, lots of people at the train station-so no issues there. In closing-I would definitely highly recommend this method of getting to and from events at the SAP Center-it's cheaper-it's less hectic and it's super efficient-Be Safe Out There. Now as a grad student I no longer come here because I don't like crowded tram stations. Even with a pandemic, it didn't seem to stop the crowds. They have their own lot as well as street parking. There is easy access to Valley Medical and the 61 bus. Whole foods is just down the street as well as the Campbell Creek trail nearby. Took a star off due to the unevenness I feel here but for the sports fan, this station really helps. Drawback: it can be a bit tough here because of the proximity to the hospital. There could be transients walking around here.

That means no slashes…read more Choose the name that's the most important or that is most different from other local station names. This station has a triply unfortunate name because (a) it has that slash, (b) "Metro" is an awful name for a metro station, because it sounds like the kind of station rather than the station itself, and (c) one would assume that it's possible to access the airport directly from a station with "Airport" in its name, but one would be incorrect, because in order to reach the airport, one has to take a VTA bus (line 60) from here. Wow, so that name is awful. How about the station itself? It's OK. Like most VTA stations, it feels too small and like it's in the middle of nowhere. Again, a station with the words "Metro" and "Airport" in its name feels like it should be right in the middle of all the urban action, but this station manages to make the surrounding area feel like an industrial wasteland even though most of San José (including its pathetic downtown) is decidedly suburban. I told Dan and Jorge that there would be parking near this station, but they assured me there wouldn't be. Lo and behold, when we came back here and had to get a ride because we hadn't parked, I spied three parking spots on one street within a block of the station. The bigger question is why I continue to allow a resident of Santa Clara and San José, respectively, to tell me, a resident of San Francisco, how difficult parking in a given area is. Jorge has never lived in San Francisco, but Dan has; he should know better. Difficult means there's absolutely no street parking within a mile, maybe a mile-and-a-half. I'm sure I would have been able to find a legal parking spot before we went to the concert.
