This station is clean and well maintained. It is not really close to anything else by walking distance, but I suppose the nearby bus stations can get you where you need to go. There are plenty of bright lights when night falls. read more

I met up with some friends and headed into SF for an activity. This is the first time I've taken BART, so I wasn't sure what to expect - other than crowds. When I drove into this station, I realized that it was huge. There were plenty of parking - both outside right in front of the station and inside the garage, which was a bit farther to walk from, but obviously had more shade. I also saw that they had chargers for EVs right in front. After paying the parking ticket, $3/day, I walked over to the station to find my friends. It was very quiet around 10:30 on a weekend, which was surprising to me - I thought much more people would be taking BART on the weekends. Maybe it was too early/late? Once we got our Clipper Cards, we went through the turnstile and started our trip. It wasn't crowded at all as we got on, but more and more people got on as we got closer to SF. As we were moving past a bunch of the other stations, I realized that not all stations were created equal - at least from what I could see out the window. Berryessa station seemed much calmer, cleaner and more spacious than many of the other stations - as well as more updated. I'm not sure when each station was built - so it could be that Berryessa may be one of the newer stations and therefore more modern looking. Our ride back later in the afternoon had more people, but even then - not fully packed at all. We were still all able to find seats and ride comfortably back. We did think about walking over to the Flea Market, but decided against it in the end as we were all tired from our adventure in the city. read more

Probably the nicest of the BART stations. This is really what a transit center should be. Plenty of parking at a reasonable rate, bus access, and BART. The online website to purchase the daily parking pass seems like it was made in the late 1900s. Other than that, it's a pleasure to use this BART station. read more

We parked our car at the 3-story parking lot around 11 am on 5/2/2026 and paid the all-day fee. When we come back from the trip, we found our car has been scratched with some kind sharp object. I wish there are safety guard around the newly built station. read more

Riding BART during the day is fine. At night, after a game or play....you need to be alert and aware at all times! I really wish they would have BART police or security walking through the trains to keep a look out for sketchy people. I've ridden from SJ to SF round trip 3 times in the last month. The free ticket is due to expire August 30, 2021. Where do I want to go from the Lake Merritt BART Station? I decide to take the train to the Berryessa BART Station. Hey, it is two free rides and I want to make the long trip worthwhile. I convince my husband to come along on this adventure. It is a nice outing for the weekend, using public transportation, to a destination of about 43 miles one way from Oakland to San Jose. The Berryessa BART Station is clean and very spacious compared to other stations in different cities (SF, Oakland, Richmond). I am grateful that this station has at least two elevators. Stairs are difficult for us senior citizens with disability. The only drawback is there are not enough benches to sit. The benches are set far apart. Did BART set it up this way due to social distancing? I am just wondering. The plus about this station is the San Jose Flea Market which is just across the way. It is so convenient. Have you ever had a co-worker/friend/family member/neighbor/cat walker go days without showering and all they do is put perfume/cologne/deodorant over themselves to mask the musky aroma they are perspiring? Sure, they change into nicer clothes, and sure, they wash their face, but underneath it all, they are still very dirty. This is my story of Bart in the Bay Area. Pull up a chair lads and lassies, this is going to be a spicy one. I've lived in the Bay Area for a greater part of 30 years. I have had my reasons to both take and avoid the Bay Area Rapid Transit (Bart) train. I started a career in Oakland and take the Bart at most twice a week. I bought a clipper card to pay for their services accordingly. I even pay for parking while using their services. However, I can't help but address the elephants in the room. The wonderful aromas of urine on concrete do hit different in the morning. The occasional transient freaking out on whatever street drug is hot in the community. Every single person that I have come in contact with that works for bart makes you feel like you are an absolute hindrance to their day. The trains themselves were operated in the dark ages as a form of pioneer public transport, although you will occasionally get into one of the nice ones. This next part is a personal rant that more or less pushed me to write this review. As aforementioned, I pay for all the services, but one day I had forgotten my credit card at home to pay for parking. I tried to go online and pay for parking while on the train and lo and behold, the process has it's hoops similar to signing up to donate plasma at the DMV (Which the DMV doesn't do by the way). It's unnecessarily complicated. I eventually found out that the Berryessa Bart station isn't even a Bart Station, it's a VTA station. long story short, I get a ticket for the one day I don't get to pay due to what was written in the above paragraph. Overall: I found even more reasons to avoid Bart, and do not plan on parking here ever again. I'll drive or even Caltrain to my destination before I take Bart again. read more

This Bart Station is located directly next to the San Jose flea market. About a 13 minute drive to Downtown San Jose and close to San Jose Japantown. One of the largest Stations, comparable to 19th street and 12th street Bart stations in size. This is the end of the line station until Downtown San Jose and Santa Clara stations are finally built which may take 10 plus years or more. A round trip ticket from Berryessa to SFO costs $28.20. The next closest station is the new Milpitas station. Ribbon cutting is tomorrow and the first day of service will be June 13th 2020. read more

I took Bart from Union Bart to Berryessa on the first day 8:53am train Sat 6/13/20. Got to Berryessa 9:18am. Waiting in line for the bathrooms, only 2 unisex bathrooms. There was water in drinking fountain. Outside is a nice sculpture called Life! by Larry Kirkland. We hiked the Bay Area Ridge Trail Upper Penitencia Creek 0.7mi, Penitencia Creek Trail to Alum Rock Park which was 4miles each way. Flat hike, had some nice views. Right behind Berryessa Bart is the SJ Flea Market, nice place to eat and shop. I need to spend more time there. Free to walk-in Fri-Sun Dawn to Dusk. VTA Rapid Bus 500 will take you to Downtown SJ & Diridon Station. Close by is Claw Shack & 7 Leaves I need to try them. read more

This review is just about the facilities and the look and feel as I am not a Bart user yet (my early experiences with Bart were not very positive: dirty stations, wagons, weird people...). I loved how clean and safe this one in Berryesa looks like. Honestly, having a police station right there is pretty reassuring. I am sorry for the Bart bad press but I guess there is a reason for it. This looks super modern, I like the sculpture outside and the fact that you can also directly walk into the flea market. That is awesome. There are tons of cool storage for bycicles which is also great because there are plenty of biking opportunities around and seems very convenient. Plus let's not forget that there are people who take the train and then uses bike as a secondary transportation so these cages seem pretty handy. It looks overall very pleasant to the eyes. read more

The flea market is the top highlight for the Berryessa Station. Otherwise if you wish to do stuff around San Jose until they build Bart to downtown SJ, It would be wise to get off at Milpitas and take VTA from the station as there are many ways to get around to San Jose that way. But the takeaway is that the flea market is only steps away once you exit BART. read more

Four stars are based on the fact that it is a very clean station although I know this may be influenced by the fact that most businesses are closed for in office work. I assume once everything opens up a little more freely, many of the tech workers on this side of town will be using BART down here for commuting. Once I actually USE BART, I will update this review to reflect that. read more

I rode BART today (which I never do) confused as to which side I should get on realizing the "all trains" made it pretty easy the attendant was speaking with a man who had used a card not valid for the trip he did and was very rude you could tell she was mad already. She was talking and I let her finish then I said "excuse me mam" so I could ask her if she knew when the next Daly City train is I NEVER GOT that far she immediately said "AHT AHT AHT AHT UH NOOO IM NOT DONE TALKING TO HIM" I was like "no never MIND you are not going to talk to me like I'm a child." Her response "KEEP WALKING KEEP WALKNG KEEP WALKING" this happened today at 2:40-2:50 PM FEB 16th 2024. People stay in jobs they hate for no reason other then the pay I get it I have to, but if it affects you on a daily (which I can tell it has) LEAVE! read more

A great way to go between SF and SJ. A lot cheaper and faster than caltrain. The station is pretty clean for the most part. There is an attendant on the first floor if you have questions. The boarding platform is a little confusing but as long as you get on the Daly City train it should take you to SF. It was confusing because that train actually does not go on the platform labelled Daly City; I got on from the platform labelled Richmond, Millbrae and the attendant downstairs confirmed. read more

I went to this station to pick up a friend. I only saw one loading / unloading area, and people were parked there! I mean, like PARKED, with no one in the car, as if the car had been there all day. It's a white zone. For the life of me, I don't know why the BART people don't ticket or tow those people. I had to keep driving around to find a place to wait for my friend, and then when I finally found a parking place, I had to text her to tell her where I was. I was worried that I was going to have to pay for parking, but thank goodness I didn't. It's ridiculous that BART doesn't protect its loading / unloading zones. read more

Nicest station so far (give it a few years). It's as clean as a train station can be. My only issue is that it wasn't clear which platform and train I needed. The loud speaker is drowned out by the sounds of the train and people, if you don't know what you're doing (like me) you better hope that there's a compassionate soul with BART experience there to help you (like I had). Also- don't use the app to add credit to your BART pass. I paid for my fare and when I went to add it to my Apple Wallet, the transaction disappeared (well- it disappeared everywhere but from my bank acct ). Once again, there are no Zeros or negative numbers in the Star options. The brief version: It took me almost 5 minutes to find a ticket machine for parking to pay, more out of orders than working ones, finally I made it - too bad I missed the first train. I have a Clipper account, charged with $30 (months ago), have the Clipper App downloaded and it confirms the $30 on the card, using an Android phone with NFC and I thought I am ready to go. Well, the card reader that did not have the "out of order" sticker did not cooperate. It was very persistent telling me please touch card again. So, it recognized there was a card - my phone with NFC - but it refused to let me into the station. After many attempts at all possible entrances, I pressed the "help button". The recommendation was to call Clipper, they are responsible :( I called and they told me, the Clipper App is not what I need, I need Google wallet to get in. Okay, I downloaded Google wallet and sure enough the Clipper card showed up with a $30 amount, isn't life wonderful :) Unfortunately the next train just left the station. Here we go, convinced the stupid Clipper system finally lets me in - WRONG - same message, please touch card again at all possible scanners I found. At the main entrance I found a lady from BART, explained my situation and what I tried, she apologized profoundly and recommended to buy a new plastic Clipper card, charging it with another amount to use it. Most of the Clipper machines where out of order and the one working did not offer a "buy Clipper card" option. She tried to use my phone as well to get in, no such luck. The whole user / customer / passenger (not really) experience was worse than ever before when it was much easier to buy a ticket for a single ride. The next train was gone by now and after about 40 minutes utterly frustrated, I decided to skip my trip to SFO as I was in such a bad mood, nothing positive was to be expected. What I did not mention, this was the second time with a very similar experience, the first time I had to drive to Oakland airport to pick up my daughter instead of taking BART. Maybe I was just an outlier, but I need to make sure that there is a record of the overall miserable customer experience at this location. Don't think that BART is a viable alternative for people like myself using the (well trying to use) the transit system every now and them. I am a big fan of public transportation, if it works, like it does in other countries, but I do understand if people in the Bay Area consider it a waste of money subsidizing BART. Just close it down and provide free UBER or LYFT, probably cheaper and for sure more reliable. read more

I was trying to exit the station with my bike using a clipper card, but the accessible gate would not open no matter how many times I tapped. I had to use a person-sized gate to get my bike through, and I had to hop over the gate. Pretty inconvenient that this had to happen. read more

Nah. Shout out to the dark lady holding up the fort tonight. I had an absolutely terrible experience for the way I was treated tonight was intolerable. For some context, I came through 16th street in San Francisco. It's late, the gates are open. I go through. This is partially my fault for I understand that you have to pay every time you go on BART which is no issue for me because I am an average consumer. The issue was trying to exit. When trying to scan, it told me to see the agent. I simply did. I walk up and am instantly hit with a wave of yelling and screaming by this lady. I would've been fine paying the amount I owed which would be about 8 dollars. Seriously though, the amount of attitude I got was just unacceptable and I felt disrespected. A simple mistake, outrageous outcome. I am not blaming the lady for my issue but just the way she handled it didn't sit right at ALL. She wanted to scan my clipper card, I complied. Right when I thought she scanned it, I walked away (I had never done this before and thought she gave me access to go through.) When I walked away, she was yelling her LUNGS out, seriously. It would've been fine to raise her voice to get my attention but she yelled to her fullest potential which shook the whole station. She yelled "WHY DID YOU WALK AWAY? DID I TELL YOU TO WALK AWAY? ANSWER ME!" I can't even exaggerate this. I'm not looking to get her fired, but possibly some classes for her would be nice. Thank you. read more
