I heard this place was closing (date tbd), so I decided to come by on Saturday one last time for nostalgia. I grew up coming here with my parents and siblings and I remember how busy and full of life it use to be. So I wanted to have one last run here. This time I came with my own family, hubby, kids and had some of the food I had enjoyed in the past. Some of old stands are gone but they do still have a good amount of food options. Food review wise see below... Bbq ribs plate 8/10 Bbq chicken plate 7/10 Cheeseburger 6/10 (had some hard chewy pieces) Corndog 5/10 Fries 8/10 Agua frescas 9/10 but pricey at $9 each when you get 5x of them LOL. Took one pic of the cheeseburger but everyone else dug into their plates before I could take more food pics. Anyways we enjoyed it, had some decent eats and played at the arcade for a bit. $20 to enter and parking, everything is new stuff, not used or old stuff. Which stays the same week to week. As always, produce being sold and food. When we asked workers can they direct us to like 2nd hand items, rummage or garage sale stuff, they couldn't direct us to resaleable items either. It makes you wonder how much are they charging their vendors. We are looking for second hand items, antiques and vintage clothing at low bargain prices. DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY!!! It's not a place were merchants can sell second hand items. Go to Capital Flea Market Saturday and Sunday instead, parking is free, and $2.50 a person. read more

My family and I had not been here in a few years, and today we had the chance to walk around and do some light shopping. The parking fee on a Sunday is $20 (it's $10 Saturdays and $5 on Fridays). The vendor area has decreased from previous years, but still plenty of options to find what you are looking for. There are vendors for all kinds of house items (clothes, blankets, fabrics, tools, furniture, beauty products, etch). And there are vendors for a lot of delicious foods and fruits found in Latin America. They have live music in the various eating areas, with lots of outdoor seating. They had a few taco truck options to pick from and a lot of antojitos (elote, chicharrones, mangoneadas, etc). Our family bought a small flower plant for roughly $20. The vendors are very friendly and welcoming, and some are willing to bargain (depending on the purchase). Overall, the food prices were a bit on the higher end. My boyfriend wanted to visit the San Jose Flea Market so we did that one Sunday a couple of weeks ago. It was super hot that day. Parking was $20 per vehicle. It would have been cheaper if we came on Saturday then it would be $10 instead. It was my first time visiting a flea market. Lol... It was a bit overwhelming. There were lots of things to look at. This flea market is pretty big, but alot of new stuff not alot of old stuff like we like. They have alot of clothing, blankets, cooking ware, food, beer, sweets, veggies, fruits , pretty much alot of vendors some repeated vendors with alot of the same stuff as others!!! We did find a great pastry place got a coconut piece of cake and boy SO delicious. Also found some good avocados!! Vendors hustling to get ur purchase as there are alot of fruit , veggie vendors!! I've been to the San Jose Flea Market a few times with my family on Sundays. This place is huge, with plenty of parking, although parking fees have gone up $10 on Saturdays and $20 on Sundays. From what I understand, they're open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends, and Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are lots of food trucks and plenty of seating throughout the market. It can get pretty crowded at times, especially on Sundays, but overall it's manageable. The restrooms have always been clean whenever we've visited, and there are ATMs available on site. You can find almost anything here clothes, household items, snacks, and more making it a fun place to spend a few hours with family. There's also a large produce section with a bakery right in the center, which gets very busy but is worth checking out. Overall, it's a lively spot with plenty to see and do, making it a great place to spend time with family if you don't mind the crowds. The value is decent if you plan to spend a few hours browsing, grabbing a bite, or making some purchases, though the high weekend parking fees do bring it down. One thing to note: we've occasionally encountered teens and sometimes older men approaching people asking for money, claiming they need it for food. Later, we've seen them gathered in small groups. If you're in the San Jose area with much time to spare, you may want to stop by the San Jose Flea Market where you will find a vast selection of items for sale which include vendors selling local produce to housewares and almost anything your heart desires. Parking is vast and will cost you around $20, which is what we paid during our visit. Everyone was kind and their customer service was great. The variety of goods all around the grounds was overwhelming. We didn't have the chance to visit all of the stalls due to the grand size of the whole market and the limited time we spent. I was very disappointed with the dishonesty of most, not all vendors. Once they could tell Spanish wasn't our first language or second, they jacked up the prices for us. Went to the chick pea vendor that were barbecuing them, and when asked how much? He had to think about it, and then price it higher for us. We know this as we were behind someone who handed him $10 for the same item we bought for $20 and walked away with it. Go with someone who speaks Spanish if you don't wanna get ripped off! read more

I love this place, it's such a vibe. The food is soo good, I love getting my fresh Chiles here and produce. The vendors are so friendly when I approach their stand. Even offer samples of their fruit. They thrown in a little extra when I buy as well. There's so much to see you can wander for a while. Since we live far away, we try to go early and be out of the Bay Area early. I haven't been to the SJ flea market in years!!! DECADES!!! I'm pretty sure it was 1997-ish the last time I was here. Obviously so much has changed. There's a parking lot or you can get here by BART. There are tons of food booths and food trucks with tables to sit at. Lots of stores that sell fruits/veggies, candy, toys, trinkets, jewelry, clothes, baptismal gowns, first communion dresses, fabrics, santos, piñatas, etc. The ambience is pretty similar to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, La Boqieria in Barcelona or the tiangge in the Philippines. The people are friendly and helpful. As for value, things are pretty expensive. Parking alone is expensive ($10 on Saturdays and $20 on Sundays - GAH!!!) and I didn't really find any deals. Some produce were more expensive at the flea market than at a grocery store. Come here if you're looking for Mexican goodies. I was looking for giant piñatas, the game, Loteria, the cooking tool to make buñuelos, pan dulce, and specific fresh exotic fruits. read more

What....When did parking cost $20. bucks here?!! Owners of San Jose Flea Market, this is highly priced! FYI, the parking lot rate is $20. on Sundays and $10. on Saturdays. I assume customers will try to avoid parking their vehicles here on Sundays or it won't be as crowded on Sundays due to this parking rate, that makes me feel sorry for all the vendors since when we visited it didn't look crowded. I know its hard work for them to set up and stuff and also pay their vendor fees. I've visited San Jose Flea Market before Covid and took Uber here, We would have Uber or walk it from our hotel but we we had a super busy Sunday, it was a quick visit to the San Jose Flea Market, but waste of $20. spent since we didn't really buy much, unless I could bring home all those plants back to Honolulu. hehe. Besides the high parking rate and its not even a theme park, we made the most of our one hour time limit here, My big kids split up , while me and other half browsed quickly together. This flea market is HUGE & colorful! With only one hour, we just short cut thru the lanes, one section has the garage sale items, one section is farmers market, ( produce, fruits) Garden and plants are not in one section. The only thing that caught my eyes and made me happy was looking at all the plants. I really wanted to buy those plants but I will have to clear Agriculture bringing it back. I noticed the prices for the plants and veggies, fruits, are lower than back home. I enjoyed looking at the fresh fruits veggies. Some of the fruits and veggies are new to me, like the cactus, interesting- nice green color and didn't know you could eat them. What did we all purchase here, my son 2 key chains, my daughter- nothing, my other half- phone cords, and for me, some fruits, 2 floral tops for my mother, package of green forks, and a lucky bamboo plant, the ones that goes in water. Support the local vendors but I say avoid the $20. parking fees. ( greed) only the owner of San Jose Flea Market, benefits from this. Go on Saturdays, $10. is much better than paying double!! San Jose Flea Market foods and snacks are certainly very good around here. BART is just right there. I still prefer coming on Saturdays (walk-in admission $3) and Sundays (walk-in admission $5) whenever possible because more vendors are onsite and more customers are roaming the place. I don't pay for parking onsite. Instead, I can always find free parking across the streets near retail and apartment buildings. Walking is good for you. Weekdays are quite boring though. I can always find good bargains on clothes/socks/undergarments/shoes. Sellers are always chatty and negotiable people. Everyone is kind and nice. Flea markets are great places to buy things at a bargain or discount, especially if you pay in cash. Farmers market section is perfect for fruits/nuts/vegetables/candies/etc. Varieties are good here. This time, I came for good vanilla soft serve ice cream cone $4.75 each. You can choose cup if you want. Chocolate flavor is available. Staffs are good people. There's affordable food trucks if you want burritos/tacos/nachos/etc. Want to buy toys/makeup products/blankets/rugs/kitchen items/backpacks? This flea market is a true blessing and great addition to city of San Jose. I absolutely love the Gardens by the Bay live music entertainment and foods section. Awesome place to walk around and enjoy. The place has so much potential. Glad they didn't shutdown. There's still good weekend vibes out here. The bf suggested checking out Berryessa Flea Market. I've seen this spot from BART and walked by before but never went in. There was a classic car gathering in one of the parking lots, which was neat. $10 parking on Sat, or $3/person walk in. Sat morning is quieter, reminds me of the Asia night markets + giant garage sale. They have different areas for food vendors, second hand and new clothing, shoes, home and kitchen goods, toys, electronics, Mexican cultural knick knacks. Food selection is American and Mexican / Central American. Come with cash, as some stalls are cash only. Decent place to check out but I wouldn't necessarily come back to shop here. read more

I hadn't gone back to the flea market in quite some time . This visit was both nostalgic as well as hopeful for the new way forward. Parking : I am happy to report they accept Apple Pay. Friday Parking - $5 Saturday Parking - $10 Sunday Parking - $20 Free Saturday/Sunday Parking before 8 AM. NOTICE: Parking across the street may get your car towed. Our visit : We came to walk around and browse the selections with my partner and 2 year old son . We didn't really have a plan of action just to make sure we ate at the beer garden to have some bomb birria tacos . The new way forward I was talking about : the flea market has definitely progressed in terms of some cashless vendors and of course cash is king at the flea but if you don't want to get charged to take money out at the various ATM machines ( planning ahead to pull out cash prior to arriving is a must ). Beer garden: it's literally adjacent to the Bart station so convenient! Sometimes the parking closest to this side gets packed and you'll be redirected to the other lot . Was excited to come here but we only stayed for 30-40 mins. You have to pay for parking which I think is ridiculous. They sell a lot of junk here and a lot of the booths were not very inviting. It's a pretty cool experience but you need to set your expectations. They have shops (new and used stuff), food, drink, entertainment, and even kids rides. It's a great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday. Walk, eat, shop. Clearly there's a lot of cheap stuff and knock offs. But there are hidden gems. I'd say a great place to shop for cowboy hats and boots. Produce is decent. Might as well go on Saturday instead of Sunday to save $10 on parking. read more

I was visiting The Flea Market at Berryessa in San Jose. It was nice to see all kinds of beautiful stuff other than yummy food and fresh fruit. I enjoyed walking around and taste all kinds of sweets. I experienced very good service and kind people. I got myself a beautiful Mexican sandals and a gorgeous heart purse. I totally recommend this place for everyone. Just wanted to give a heads-up about this lady named Elvira who sells party favors. She's right next to the person selling gold chains and stuff. I ended up overpaying for seven favors, but that's not really the issue--it's more about how I was treated. We agreed on one thing, and she ended up giving me something else. She only sells party favors for weddings, baptisms, and first communions. The place is pretty cramped with stuff everywhere, making it tough to get through the aisles. There's a guy there too, who I think is her husband. Honestly, the way she interacts with people makes me think you'd be really disappointed if you have her handle your party favors. read more

Haven't been to the flea market in years! But we heard that they made some updates so we decided to check it out for ourselves! We were specifically looking for the beer garden area! Once we got there they had a dj playing some good music and also a bar area for beers and drinks! There were a bunch of food trucks and the weekend we went they had a lot of vintage clothing stalls. Parking in the lot across the street from the flea market was about $10. Back then was also my first time having garlic fries from one of the vendors. I used to find bargains at the flea market - clothes, toys, record albums, kitchen gadgets, etc. This time around I saw more tee shirts on the clothes rack and toys. Even though I did not roam around too far to do more browsing, I stayed close to the garden area in the shade. I don't do well in hot weather. Before I forget, admission is $2.00 per person. Highlight of my visit: DJ playing old school music and the food truck that sold street tacos, super tacos de birria, birria ramen, quesabirria and different flavored agua frescas. Besides I like how close this flea market is to the Berryessa BART Station. Okay, husband wants to visit the flea market next Saturday. I'm reviewing the flea market based on my recent visit to the Moon Festival. Everything in regards to the moon festival was so disorganized. There wasn't a map of the vendors or shops that was provided. I even messaged the folks on Instagram for a map and they never responded. Alongside that, the vendors were subpar. Lets start from worst to best. They had this drink spot called Maktub. No menu provided and a long wait. At the end of the wait, they bait you and tell you that a drink is 9 bucks. I'm a involuntary practioner of a sunk cost fallacy and though since I've waited for so long I may as well buy a drink. I shouldn't have listened. The drink was subpar for 9 bucks and I was seeing red. The whipped cream was the only good part of this imbalanced excuse for a oreo shake. It was more cookie than creme. It also took 15 minutes to make my drink though there were only five parties ahead of me. Then I tried out a Mexican food truck near by. By golly, the food was average for such a long wait. 13 bucks for two tacos and a quesabirria. So not worth it. Then the fried chicken was whatever. It wasn't flavorful and slightly overcooked Entertainment was subpar. Just a DJ and some bean bags laid out as entertainment along with a few other booths unrelated to the moon festival open. Towards the end there was a fashion show and lion dancing which was cool bit there were 2 other hours with basic entertainment.. The Flea Market has to step it up for real. read more

This place is not bad. It has a lot of options in terms of shops. I came here to check out the game station booth. It is nice but priced pretty much the same as most game stores. There is not much of a deal there unfortunately but I do think the staff is nice. The other stores are not bad. I went on a non super busy day. It does not have a ton of shade when walking around so just be aware of that on sunny hot days. You mostly would want to come here for clothes and such but they do have a bunch of different things. The food here is not too bad. It is nothing too fancy but pretty good food. There is an entrance fee to get in. I am not sure what the parking fee would be. Overall not a bad place to go if you want to find some clothing or small trinket deals. Not so much for electronic. read more

First of all, it's a Mexican style flea market, you can find everything here! For tourists, make sure you go on weekends (Saturday or Sunday), they also open on Wednesday and Friday. But only limited vendor there,l. I went there on both Wednesday and Saturday. Wednesday around noon, there're only 10-15 cars in the parking lot and around 10 vendors in the market. Saturday, parking is $7 but a lot of vendors. You can go on Sunday too but the parking is $15 so I suggest go on Saturday! The market is huge, you can easily spend couple hours there. To be honest, I'm from LA and I don't found a lot of things to do or place to visit in San Jose but this market is pretty cool to check it out. read more

But I went to the San Jose Flea Market for the first time in over 30 years post-Covid shelter in place, and I didn't see anything sold here worth coming for. I left empty handed. Even the food was pretty disappointing based on the quesadilla I ate for lunch. What type goods are sold? There is a farmers market so different types a fruit and vegetables were available. A bunch of different Mexican food trucks and vendors were located in every corner. Bootleg shirts, cheap sunglasses, Jesus and Maria statues abound, Mexican culture art, and used tools for days. Nothing stood out and I felt like I was in a giant bad garage sale. Overall a big disappointment and like I prefaced this yelp with saying maybe it was better back in the day pre-Covid.
