Food has always been good. There is a large menu of items to choose from. Chips and salsa are free. Also, the food is usually brought out pretty fast There is plenty of seating for large parties. However, in the evenings especially the weekends, you may need to wait for a while. During checkout, you can pay the server at the table. The server carries a payment device. The only thing I questioned was when paying by credit card. The only tip options to choose from were 20,25, or 28%. I do plan on going back many more times. read more

Great service. Went to get a to go order. Ordered inside and told lady inside that I had my little dog in car and I would come back in in a few minutes. She said ok. I went back out to car with my little dog. I looked up and one of the workers bought my food to the car. Didn't ask for that at all. Talking about excellent service, I say over and beyond. I have never had such horrible Mexican food in my life. These are not cheese enchiladas, the burritos are not a burrito. I don't know what the brown sauce was on the enclhilada, but, ewe!!! Wow almost missed it, this place is tucked away close to the Lexington movie theater. We have so many Mexican restaurants in my area, some good some not so good... San Jose has a nice bar and plenty of seating, pretty decor, and a nice hostess at the door. Our waiter was kind and attentive. The place is clean and welcoming, I ordered my usual salsa and chips for starters and queso cheese. I had the pick 3 item meal, chicken burrito, chicken enchiladas with black beans/ salad, all was yummy and had a good taste. My Mango frozen margarita hit the spot. The tamales were a bit to thick for me, too much corn meal. Everything was presented well. Honesty all these Mexican places starting to run together.... Maybe desert next time! I always enjoy this San Jose in Redbank. The staff are very attentive and always make sure that you have refills on your drinks and chips. I've never had them mess my order up. They are closed on Monday's, they have Happy Hour, can accommodate larger crowds or you can have the private booths or even enjoy the fresh air with the outside tables and chairs under a nice canopy. This place used to be great eating in or takeing out the last few takeout orders I had were terrible chicken tacos with hardly and meat just lattice mainly lettuce and some cheese still better then taco bell if you eat here come at lunch or dinner time the margaritas are good but the upcharge for premium tequila is not worth it read more

I like this location because it is more quiet and private than its sister locations due to the fact it's off the beaten path. It is also one of the newest locations so the facilities are very nice. My table and surrounding area was clean. I had multiple servers who were all extremely helpful throughout my meal. I don't think they normally make coffee, but they happily did so for me even at a late hour. It was both prompt and satisfying. They of course bring out complementary chips and salsa which is on the high mild to low medium scale. Their beans do have lard in them, so there are no vegan proteins here. But I had a bowl of guacamole along with the chips and salsa which made for an inexpensive meal. They also have a tossed salad and a guacamole salad on the menu that would've work too. I would come again, but I do wish they would at least have plain black beans which I could make a meal out of in combination with rice and vegetables. read more

This is the worst Mexican Restaurant I have ever eaten at. I don't know why they are so popular. The quesadillas only have drippy cheese in them with no flavor. The other dishes I tried were awful too. The deep fried burrito is so plain with nothing but queso cheese like the quesadilla. Try putting some rice or beans or anything in these dishes. I refuse to go when others suggest this place. Yuck. read more

I have never, ever, in my 60 plus years, had such terrible tasting Mexican food. The food ranges from their best at downright bland (their refried beans), to rotten (the beef in the tacos and the chile-less relleno) . First I ordered an ice tea, totally forgetting that I'm in the South where all you get is sweet iced tea. It wasn't cold either. The chips and salsa arrived almost immediately, but the chips tasted like cardboard and the salsa was bland. My lunch order arrived very soon thereafter (the one star because the service is excellent - the food deserves a minus five). The guacamole had absolutely no discernible seasonings in it and tasted like watered-down Florida avocado. The taco had the nastiest tasting beef in it. I question if it is even beef. If it is, it was old. The plate with the beans and chile relleno was straight out of the oven, and I managed to burn my little finger when I brushed up against it (why restaurants bring you burning hot plates is beyond me). The beans had, again, no discernible flavor. I don't even know how to describe the chile relleno. First of all there wasn't any chile, as you can see by the picture. Went here on Saturday. Ordered our drinks and queso. The guy quickly brought out salsa and chips but the chips were stale. Told our waitress and her response was " Well, unfortunately if I bring you another basket it will be the same way because it's the same batch." Got quesadillas and they were wet and soggy. Ordered rice and beans but that never came. They took it off of our bill but the guy at the register never apologize d and just kept talking to his friend. Don't order it to go because when we tried that it was so soggy we had to remake it with our stuff from home. All the way around service was bad and I don't appreciate the lack of remorse when I bring this to your attention. I will not spend anymore of my money eating here. It is closer to my house but I will go out of my way and go to the San Jose in West Columbia. Never disappointed when I go there. Consistently a great experience at that one!! read more

Very disappointed tonight. The food the last few times has been great, but tonight it was DISGUSTING. We placed a carry out order and we were told ten minutes. We had to wait 20 minutes longer and when we got the food home (we live literally 5 minutes away), it was stone cold. My queso was congealed. The other two meals we got were cold as well, along with the two cheese dips. They also forgot the guacamole salad that came with my meal and the shredded pork inside the burritos was bone dry, burnt and tasted old. I called and whoever answered the phone didn't admit fault. He stated that the food was hot when they handed it to us and continually argued with me. Food will not be stone cold in 5 minutes. I work in food service, so I said that maybe someone needs to check their temperatures or something. It took him 5 minutes to finally apologize. I won't be back. What a huge bummer. read more

There was a napkin in my margarita and my daughter pointed out a roach on the floor. I have been eating to this San Jose for the last 3 years and to have an experience like this completely grossed me out to where i will never go back. Then all the trash in the parking lot is disgusting. The napkin in my drink and the roach all in the same night was too much for me. I left because I vomited. The sad part is they still charged me for the regular drinks. The guy was standing right there taking our order when i sipped the drink and the napkin came up, so it was not like I did it. My sister and I ordered the fajitas for two (it's our go to!) and the steak was so fatty, we tried a total of 5 pieces and ended up spitting every piece out. We then waited 15 minutes (didn't touch our food because we didn't want to complain about a half eaten plate even though the chicken and veggies were okay) for our waiter to return (super nice guy). When the manager got there we informed him and he argued us repeatedly. We asked him for our check 3 times as he continued to deny it was not of quality. We waited another 10 minutes until our server came back and we asked him for our checks. He brought them out immediately after and comped the fajitas (l believe it was his doing because the manager did not mention it and angrily snatched the fajitas away). Before we left I finished eating the one tortilla stuffed with rice and two bell peppers slices I started eating earlier, just to pull a piece of plastic out of my mouth. Absolutely will not be back. Your run of the mill Americanized Mexican restaurant. Nothing super authentic but for what you are getting it is solid. If you are looking for more authentic Mexican food I would suggest Real Mexico. If you just want a burrito and some queso this will fit the bill. read more

I have visited this location several times, as it is near my house. The service has never been great, but tolerable. However, today, they have lost my family as customers FOREVER. We are planning a semi-large family dinner for tomorrow evening with approximately 15 people. I called to make a "reservation" and was told they were too busy and couldn't take reservations for Fridays. I then asked if we would be able to be seated together, without a reservation, and was again told no. I spoke to two different employees but neither would let me speak to the manager. I immediately called another restaurant and they happily took our reservation request. read more
