My husband and I share Fajitas for one and even have some leftovers for the next day. The servers are always friendly and quick to get you seated. This is a good place to go with a group as there are tables beyond the booths that can be arranged for small or large groups. The food is always good and hot. We usually get the regular salsa which is pretty spicy and request a mild salsa for me. The only problem we have had the last 2 times we have been there is that extra money (no more than a dollar) was added to the tip. read more

Hands down the best vegetarian dish I've ever had in Columbia, SC. I ordered the vegetarian platter which came with enchiladas (both bean and cheese) and a cheese stuffed poblano. What set this apart from the others is that each sauce was different and was more delicious than the previous sauce. The rice and beans were fluffy & flavorful! I ordered a Paloma which was spot on and then I saw the jalapeño tequila. Needless to say the spicy Paloma was perfection. This is a clean place with lots of space. service is HORRIBLE. last night was our 3rd and final time coming here (we always give restaurants 3 chances before assuming they suck). last night we went out to dinner to see my in laws after a death in the family, and i had to go find someone (bartender was the only person out) bc our drink order was not taken after sitting there for TWENTY MINUTES. i order a dr pepper and my bf asked for the drink menu, and ordered our food at the same time. she comes back with 4 waters and immediately leaves, and we didn't see anyone again until the food came out. the girl who should have served us was yelling with her manager and pointing at us (we speak spanish lol, awkward!) last time we went, we stood in front of the host stand for almost 3 minutes, while the host was right in front of us, so deep into her phone she didn't notice us until the manager saw, and again started yelling with her in front of us. every time we come here it's a cluster f*** and we're over it. wish they didn't tear down the san jose on forest bc now we're stuck with this place. read more

I ordered the chicken mole with rice & beans and a piece of Mexican Street corn. I had the Blue Lagoon margarita, which was very good. Also got churros which were disappointing. Filled with some kind of sauce that I didn't care for. I expected traditional churros. The chicken mole was good. The beans and street corn were good but I thought the rice was a little undercooked. The service was good. I was surprised to see a $1.55 fee on the check. The waitress said it was for a credit card transaction fee. I didn't mind paying it but I've never seen that at a restaurant before. I assume most include it in their prices. read more

I've tried to give this place a chance. The first time coming my good friend asked to have a business lunch there. I went to the one on Ft Jackson because I didn't know there where two locations. My first time at this spot was so so. My guest loved their food yet mines was extremely salty. Im noticing a pattern tho. The waitress who was new was like oh you didn't like your food... want a box? Like for what to wash it off at home? ‍ No apology no compensation just an offer of a box. This last visit is definitely my last. Me and my bestie tried going to the other location but to our surprise its not there anymore. So we got there a half hour before closing. The young man who seemed annoyed that we wanted to eat there was my first problem. If your open then you're open. My friend ordered the 3 steak tacos and I got the chicken tacos and one ceviche. Why did he bring out literally two tacos. I told him this was not correct he then says he'll ask the kitchen. Then he proceeds to bring us... you guessed it two more tacos. So I said we ordered a totally of six and you keep bringing out one at a time. At this point I'm like you know what I ordered right he says right I said you know you messed up right he said yep. And went about his business. I paid my tab and left. Now this place is history to me. They dont care if the order is wrong or the food is salty. No fcks given! The Chori Chicken was delicious! The chorizo had a nice spiciness to it and was nicely charred. This place is adjacent to a Mexican market and easily missed. I ordered through the phone and my order was prepared in a timely manner. To top it off the food is reasonably priced. This place offers solid food and I would return. We went here on Cinco de Mayo and the customer service was still great with the stressful environment. I love the Arroz con Pollo and it is a great portion size for two people or if you are super hungry, you can definitely eat it all. While this place is easy to find, it kind of snuck up on us and we drove by it the first time. We went the long way around the block and after realizing the limited parking in front was full we had passed the entrance to the rear parking. The third time was the charm. There is limited parking facing the street but a decent amount of parking behind the building. Access is between the two buildings. The lighting in the rear lot is not the best, but it's not dark by any means. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. There were maybe 12 people already there, with seating for at least that many more. We said we wanted to order take out and were given menus. We asked for recommendations, received some, and sat down by the door to make our choices. We placed our order and waited about 20 minutes for the food. Our order sat on the counter a few minutes before we were called, but I don't think it had a bearing on the quality. A really nice thing is the host went through our order telling us what each item was and making sure everything we ordered was correct. Every restaurant should make this a standard practice. The brisket flautas were crispy and very good. The brisket filling was smoky goodness. Toppings of lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream were provided. All tacos we tried were either good or excellent. The papas con rajas (potatoes and chilis) was more bland than expected although it had more cilantro than the other proteins. It wasn't bad and may be a regional style which is accurately presented. General comments are the tacos are very good with some heavy on onion. They also only use one tortilla per taco versus the typical two. Only one taco broke up while eating, so these tortillas seem thicker than typical. It was pretty much a non-issue, just something different. You get a lot of filling with each taco, so they are a good deal in addition to tasting good. The Veggie burrito is huge with a mix of vegetables including carrots and broccoli. Even though it's large, it's light so you don't feel bloated after finishing it. The cheese steak burrito is packed with strips of steak. It's very filling and could easily make two meals. The red and green sauces were very good. Both have similar heat which is on the high side. They have very different flavors and the heat complemented the flavors instead of overpowering them. The salsa is smooth and mostly tomato. There was little onion or cilantro flavor. Chips are typical. This makes an adequate filler, but not the best I have tried. The menu has many options including the typical lunch specials. I hope to get a chance to try more items since what we had so far was definitely above average. read more

Kelsay and I love some food Mexican (or Tex-Mex) food, so we decided to venture out from our usual stops and found somewhat of a gem! Moctezumas is literally a "hidden gem", it's tucked away in a small plaza that looks like it's nearly abandoned. We pulled up not sure if we were in the right place, but walked in and were greeted and seated very quickly. We started with some queso, wouldn't say it's our favorite, but it definitely compliments their foods. The complimentary salsa they bring out is actually very good, just flavorful enough. As for entrees, I got the enchiladas verdes (chicken enchiladas with their green sauce) and Kelsay got the chori-pollo (chicken and chorizo Sausage topped with queso). Both were excellent! I down the enchiladas with ease, and Kelsay enjoyed the flavor of the chicken and chorizo, but did note that it was a tad salty. All in all, this was a decent surprise, and most importantly it's very easy on the pockets. They have lunch specials starting at $3.99... and it's not a gimmick. It's not like there are 2 meals for $3.99 and the rest are $10, i think most ranged from $3.99 to maybe $7. Go try it! read more

Believe this might be the worst Mexican meal that I have ever had. Ordered from lunch menu---was charged a surcharge as lunch menu is ONLY good Monday through Friday. Really good food! I will prepare you. I was really nervous pulling up to this location because I just wasn't super sure it was a good idea. First, there is a large parking lot in the back of the building that really makes you feel better to get your car away from the hustle of Rosewood. The restaurant is small but colorfully decorated. Lots of unique wall art and plenty of comfortable booth seating. I had the chorizo chicken. So good! Chicken breast covered in cheese and chorizo sausage. Large portion and I left stuffed. Friendly staff and an owner who was diligent to make sure that we had a great time. Easy to order, food came out fast, lots of options on the menu. Moctezumas Taqueria is a great Mexican restaurant. The restaurant is about as authentic as they come and the menu is large enough that I'm sure there will be something to like there for everyone. There is a lot behind the restaurant and a few spots up front, but going during peak hours can make it very hard to find a spot and has deterred me from eating here more than once. It can also be fairly crowded inside and there may be a wait during peak hours. Service is fast and good. When it comes to Mexican food, I am very much a tacos and torta kind of guy. Their tacos are good, their meat is tender, tortilla so good, and everything seems fresh. I wish they had some sort of salsa as I find the salsa is what really sets a good taco apart. I've only ever tried their tortas once as they had a period where they never had the torta bread, but it was good that one time. Otherwise, I usually get the el Diablo fajita meal. It is absolutely delicious and my go-to choice. I have tried other items, like their burritos, and have been left wanting. They have free chips and salsa, which is always welcome. While it isn't the best Mexican food I've had, it does the job well and is my go-to choice for authentic Mexican food in Columbia. I definitely recommend! read more

I usually eat at chain Mexican restaurant so I was bit anxious when I looked at the front door -- looked like an old video store. Starting with the appetizer chips... OMG )):$&&3!;!! How could you make chips & salsa so good?! I needed to stop myself to eat too much chips before the main dish. The chicken flauta was the best one I have ever eaten. The portion was huge. I had hard time finishing it. I could box it but I didn't because i couldn't stop eating it. All for less than $10 They don't put much money on decoration of the store. There is a good reason for that. They provide excellent foods for cheap price. "Affordable price" would be misreading. It's cheap lol and tastes like five stars restaurant. Been going to Moctezumas for years, I was devastated they closed their second location. This one has less seating but food is just as good. We've seriously never had a bad meal, the salsa is a hit or miss depending on the night. Their margaritas are all good and their bartender gives a heavy pour. I saw a picture of their Cubano Torta and had to try this place. But I was really craving tacos. I was so indecisive when placing my order that I ended up choosing a smaller torta and getting one taco. The carnitas taco had good flavor and was juicy. But the single tortilla was thin and doesn't hold up to the meat. I ate it first when it arrived and it fell apart before I even took a bite. The tortilla wasn't homemade, and they should double up on tortillas on their tacos. For the torta, I made the mistake of asking my server which one was their favorite. He said the Hawaiian was the best. I see Hawaiian Tortas on menus all of the time, but have never tried one, so today I did. I was disappointed. When craving Mexican food, don't order a ham and pineapple sandwich. It has beans, avocado and jalapeños, and the bread was excellent, but I should have gone with carne asada, carnitas or the Cubano that I went there for. Maybe next time. read more
