03/07/2026 Since I enjoyed the food from Cocos & Beer from my last visit, it was time for the second go-round to be full and happy all over again:) I ordered the Pescado Baja. It was a mahi-mahi fillet with grilled shrimp, spinach, mushrooms, white wine sauce, and it was served with black beans and rice. The was so full of flavor! The fish was seasoned perfectly. The shrimp was grilled just right, to my liking. Omg, the mushrooms I could have eaten by themselves! They were juicy and scrumptious. Of course, the rice and black beans were good as well. I truly enjoyed it! Let me not forget the white wine sauce. It had a great taste, and you know I love a good wine! My husband ordered the Fajita Nachos. It was filled with corn tortilla chips, grilled onions, bell peppers, with cheese dip, tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole and Jalapeño. Yes, it was a lot and he enjoyed every bite of it! The food was on point. We definitely recommend this place if you are ever in the mood for amazing authentic Mexican dishes. Popped in like an hour or so before closing. Long day and just wanted to chill and get a meal in me. Hostess was so lovely and sat me at a table. The server popped by and took my order when I was ready. I liked how they just let me sit, enjoy my meal, scroll on my phone and decompress after a bit of a day. I really needed it. All the other customers had pretty chill and pleasant vibes. Along with the array of vibrant colors and design that felt very much something created out of love made it a great meal. Um the super burrito or whichever I had is no joke. It was the size of my forearm and I am not a petite person. Tasted wonderful. Came out nice and warm too. My server was Romina who was just so lovely. When I said I wanted a margarita with reposado not silver tequila she was very quick to suggest a wonderful option. We were out shopping and decided to try something new, and based on all the great reviews, we had high hopes for CoCo's and Beer. Unfortunately, maybe we just caught them on an off day, because our experience wasn't the best. The salsa to start had a bitter taste and an odd aftertaste that threw us off right away. My husband ordered the tacos al pastor, but the meat tasted old and tough--almost like it had been reheated. The charro beans were completely lacking in flavor, and the chile relleno had to be sent back because the beef smelled sour and the dish was just a sloppy mess. I ordered the Pollo Loco with grilled chicken and shrimp, which was the saving grace of the meal. The chicken and shrimp were cooked well, though the shrimp was a little on the tough side. Service was also a bit disappointing. We had to flag down our server multiple times for refills and even for the check. Overall, I really wanted to like this place, but it just missed the mark for us. Hopefully, it was just an off day--but with so many great Mexican restaurants in Columbia, I'm not sure we'll be rushing back anytime soon. read more

This has always been a great place for Mexican food. The portion sizes are large. Burritos are enormous. There are so many unique dishes. I have so many go-to items, even though I'd like to try everything on the menu. They have drink specials on Tuesdays during happy hour including $1,99 house margaritas. They are pretty decent too. You can go wrong. If you haven't been here, give this place a try. I live over by I-20 & go to that C&B sometimes. I also meet friends at the Fort Jackson C&B, the one with the Big Black Bull out front. Love the food & the great service, love the art work on the walls, also. As great as the service is, you should go early, the service slows down at rush hour for dinner. No big deal, we just eat chips & chat with friends. Wife & I have been going they for years & love the food. Five star, six stars if it goes that high. Me and my husband went for late dinner around 8 PM. We were greeted by a hostess and sat at a table. After sitting five minutes, no one came over to greet us or bring chips and salsa to the table. After another 10 minutes, a party of three came in was sat down in a server came within the first five minutes of them being there and took their order. At this point me and my husband had set close to 20 minutes and we just got up and left because of the poor service. We were not acknowledged one time after being there for 20 minutes absolutely no one came to our table we were ignored. I have frequented this restaurant several times as well as had deliveries to my home from this restaurant and never have I experience such poor service from them, which was really surprising and why I am posting this review. Been coming here for the past 3 years! It always hits the spot! My favorite part is the $21 dollar pitcher of house margarita it's absolutely amazing and strong . Definitely recommend for anyone who wants to enjoy good food and drinks . They also have a salas bar where you can pick your choice of hot sauces. Everything was geared to the "idea" of that food/culture, but it doesn't hit at all. EVERYTHING was bland. This place used to be my go to for Mexican! However when they added a second location and modernized the inside- it lost its touch. The margaritas and burritos are what draw people into this place and they are both huge and yummy!! The burritos are California style and enough for three meals. The salsas are yummy- they bring a house and ranchero style out. They also have a real spicy salsa that you can request if that's your style. The restaurant offers indoor, outdoor, and bar seating. I would recommend grabbing a table indoor because if you order guacamole they will bring a cart to your table and make it in front of you. read more

This is an update to my last review. Was here Tuesday for lunch....decided to go back last night (Friday) with my wife to try something else. 6:30 PM...the place was packed. We were immediately seated, however, in a nice booth for two. We weren't real hungry, but I'd told her about the guacamole that they prepared at your table. Saw a waitress preparing it on Tuesday so we thought we'd try it. Waitress took our orders for two margaritas an brought them out quickly. A bit unusual for margaritas....they had an umbrella sticking in them with a lemon and an orange slice along with two maraschino cherries. Haven't seen margarita's with the fruit like that before. Didn't seem to go, but the margarita was good. I could skip the umbrella, orange and cherries however. She brought out the warm chips and two small bowls of salsa and their homemade ranch style dip (rather than the traditional queso). Chips were good. Salsa was good and the ranch style dip was good (although I prefer the queso dip). We ordered the "Quacamole prepared at your table", as advertised on their menu. We both also order a taco salad with ground beef. The waitress left and came back about two minutes later with a stone bowl of guacamole and placed it on the table. We said we thought they would prepare it at the table, as the menu printed. She said on busy nights they don't do that. So it's a little misleading! My wife doesn't like refried beans and the taco salad has their ground beef pretty mashed up with refried beans. She didn't care for it. I did like it, however, as I do like refried beans. One problem with the place (and I didn't see it at lunch because it wasn't crowded) is that it is so loud. You can hardly hear yourself talk across the table. I see why they play the birthday music so loud now....at lunchtime it blows your ears out...but on a Friday night they'd have to play it that loud in order to hear it. I'll have to give second thoughts about going back here for dinner. Maybe I'd try lunch again. I must say our waitress was prompt and very friendly. read more

Chips and salsa were good. Average bland Mexican food. Service was good. The Tri-Colered Tamales were huge oblong masa balls with the stuffing and sauce in the outside. Some were 2" in diameter! If you like masa, great. My El Molcajetes was good except for the red colored "chorizo" which was like cardboard. Wife's Coco's & Beer enchiladas were bland. Disappointed and probably won't be back. I was by myself and had some time to kill so I decided to go to Cocos and Beers since it had been a long time. It wasn't too packed where I felt uncomfortable to dine. The spacing of the seating was helpful as well. The watermelon margarita was so good!! Perfectly made. I thoroughly enjoyed my cocktail plus it came pretty decorated which was pleasing for someone who has not been dining in restaurants much since the start of the pandemic. I ordered the Casa Amigos house margaritas and it was good as well. Made with a perfect balance and not to sweet but not too strong. Again, for me the fruit and umbrella is a small detail that's a nice little pick me up amidst this pandemic. I enjoyed the chips, salsa, and I believe ranch dip. The salsa tasted so fresh. It was great! The queso was good as well although I regretted not getting the queso with chorizo. I ordered the Quesadillas Casa Amigos with grilled steak and the side of the chiptole and cilantro sauce.  I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! The steak was grilled to perfection and was so flavorful. I was kind if shocked. I mean they are usually good don't get me wrong, but I do not recall them packing that much flavor in their steak. It was good! The quesadilla over all was amazing. The tortilla with the meat, the cheese, and the balance of it all. Truly enjoyed it to the point where I shamefully did not want to stop eating after I full! The rice, beans, Pico, and the sauces were all tasty as well! Overall, it was just such a pleasant experience. My boyfriend and I went for lunch yesterday. I hadn't been in over a year. It used to be one of my fav spots. However, after yesterdays experience I will not be returning. I ordered Huevos Rancheros and my boyfriend ordered Spicy Morita Enchiladas. He asked for no beans, extra rice. Our server took our order and repeated it back to us. Did not write anything down. Came back and asked if I wanted my eggs scrambled. I said no, the menu states over easy and that's what I want. Food comes out with a different person delivering. Boyfriend has double beans instead of double rice. He is missing his guacamole. I am missing my tortillas and my eggs are fried hard. He let's the different server know about the bean/rice mix up. This person argues with him that he ordered all beans. He is then brought a plate of rice. Our original server comes by and apologizes for the mix up. Upon receipt of our meal, I noticed we were charged $2.50 for rice. I spoke up and said we should not be paying for the rice. The server called over the manager, they spoke in Spanish and the manager walked away. The server said she couldn't take the item off our bill. I said, "of course you can." And she said she could but she would be responsible for paying for the mistake. I said, "ok then, thank you." Why would the customer be responsible for paying for the mistake? We will not be returning to Cocos and Beer. Not when there are so many other options with better service and atmosphere. read more

This is a hidden gem in Columbia! I stumbled on Cocos and Beer while browsing Yelp trying to find a nice restaurant for lunch with friends. We walked in and we're pleasantly surprised. The portions are massive! The drinks are strong! Service is impeccable. The inside is modern and clean. I have absolutely no complaints.
