Great service and amazing food! Definitely our go to when visiting Amarillo, Texas. The street tacos are the best!

They advertise "fresh margaritas". By "fresh" they mean being made at open (as my waitress told me) and sitting in a container all day to be poured when ordered. So the 2 drinks I ordered tasted like water since it sat all day, we visited at 5pm, I returned mine, my fiancé kept his( he didn't like it, he just didn't want to send it back. I had the birria tacos, they taste just like salt, that's it. My Fiancé had the Jalisco burrito, he said it was bland. Food was freshly made good quality, neat, chicken and seafood. Had guacamole as an appetizer and was freshly made right at my table side. Ambiance is super nice. TV is all around full bar area. I have plenty of seed for big parties. Service was excellent, no complaints. The food was flavorful. Plenty of options. Lots of parking. Handicap, accessible, big, clean bathrooms. Not a fan. I asked for a frozen pineapple margarita two times and still got it on the rocks. The service was bare minimum and ...awful. They seemed rushed for no reason. . On a Friday at 730p...wasn't busy at all. The taste --um like Rosa's cafe so not restaurant quality by any means. And Didn't even get the table side note quac. Thumbs down to the music. The best part about our visit was the table side guacamole, that was a treat. Your palate will be disappointed If you're craving authentic rich savory flavors, this menu won't satisfy. No flavorful red chili. White queso was so runny it wouldn't stay on the chip. Do you remember Kraft mac and cheese in a box with the powdered cheese? They serve it on the kids menu for $8, my kid deserved a savory cheesy option better than that. Tacos and red enchiladas need improvement, the flavors aren't there. Beware if you're paying with a card, the first option for a suggested tip is $10 not cool. A breath of fresh air for Amarillo ! My jalapeño margarita was better than any other Mexican restaurant in this town by far. We tried the tableside guacamole to start and what a fun and delicious appetizer we will definitely be going back for. Service was great even though they were really busy. We had combination plates trying several things and everything was authentic , hot and delicious. San Jose is definitely our new Go to when craving Mexican food ! read more

I have been here numerous times and have always been pleased, but this time, I took my 7 year old grandson. We ordered a kid's meal. I got the bill and they had charged 3 bucks for the kids drink! I asked about it and they said the kid's meal doesn't come with a drink. What kids meal doesn't come with a drink?!?! She said she even asked after I questioned it. What was irritating was the server added $4.00 to our tab and charged for things that weren't advertised as upcharge if you order them. Lg Quesadilla on menu: Choice of meats.Chicken, grilled steak, shrimp, con queso cheese dip, sour cream salad, rice. $16.99 We were charged $3. Extra for the Con Queso and a $1.00 for grilled steak. It isn't so much the money. It is the hidden charges that was a surprise. They didn't charge for water so that was a plus. But come on. Brand new restaurant, and already hidden charges that when orders should have said'" grilled steak is $1. Extra. I should chose. Never said Con queso cheese dip is $3.00. It was on the ingredients on the dish and menu... no way to know the cheese advertised on menu was an up charge. You just do that stuff. My $16.99 quesadilla was over $20.00. Not cool! read more

I don't understand where some of the reviews are coming from , this is authentic Mexican food ( minus the tortillas) everything from the Jamaica (hibiscus tea ) to the way the guacamole and chicken is prepared is authentic .If you are looking to try different styles of Mexican cooking that are not very known among the general u.s public I recommend giving this place a try . The entire vibe of the place reminds me of Mexico ! I recommend getting the pollo chipotle it has so juicy and the mushrooms chipotle sauce gave it a nice touch , overall 9.5/10 . I finally went and tried this restaurant and was very disappointed after reading so many good reviews on it. I was really hoping this was going to be a great experience and it was not. I ordered the burrito supreme and couldn't have been more disappointed in the "special sauce" they used to top the burrito with. It was just a can of tomato sauce poured over the burrito. I think I'll stick to Jorge's for my burrito experience. My boyfriend ordered the beef nachos and they forgot to add his meat. However, they did make it right and only charged him 50% for the nachos. Food quality was not great and it's overpriced. The atmosphere was okay .. they did have plenty of tvs going on, music was a little too loud for me, decent decor. read more

We've found our new place. Starting with the excellent guacamole made at the table, the perfect size Pilsner glass of your favorite beer and the can't get enough cheese dip. We could only share yummy nachos after that. Next time we've got to try the chili rellanos! Our waiter was great and also funny. The ambiance was perfect. Overall everything was amazing! Our server definitely knew his stuff and was quick to make our experience there one that would be hard to forget! I recommend the table side guac, shrimp tacos (definitely worth adding pineapple to), and my husband said the fajitas were one of the best he has ever had! The drinks were good as well. What was supposed to be a nice lunch with my son turned out to be a horrible experience. Queso was cold and lumpy. Entrees arrived and as I began to eat I noticed a hair in my rice. I pulled it out and put it on a napkin. About 15 minutes later, a waitress (not the original) asked if we would like more chips, which was empty. Both of our drinks were empty also so we had to ask her for refills. I pointed out the hair in my food to her and gave it to her. She took it to the back and after a while the original waitress came to ask if I wanted to replace the entree. I agreed to get it to go since my son was done eating. Shortly after she brings me my receipt. I payed the full amount and as I was doing so, a waiter or possible owner? Came over and asked what was wrong. I mentioned the hair again. He then became furious and claimed that I put the hair there and that nobody in the back has long hair. I showed him I paid on the toast app and he snatched my phone from me to verify. I grabbed my phone back and walked out of the door. I have NEVER had such a bad experience at a restaurant. The whole ride home was quiet because I was so upset. read more

We live nearby this restaurant and the location has hosted a couple other food joints before San Jose moved in. We were a little skeptical as we have our favorite mexican food restaurant also nearby. We were pleasantly surprised by how great the food is! The atmosphere is very nice and enjoyable. Pricing is what we expected and the table side guacamole service is a nice touch.
