I got the taco plate. The tacos were regular size with rice and beans. Food taste great and portions for this plate was great.

I'll admit it - if I had known that they did not serve margaritas, I may not have chosen this place. But boy I'm glad I did. Absolutely one of the best Mexican restaurants I've eaten at. Real, non machine made flour tortillas. Huge mug of Modela on tap, ice cold of course. The hubby got eggs over easy with chilaquiles which were delicious. But my star was the chile rellenos. They give you two! The sauce, the batter, the peppe, r the cheese inside; everything about this relleno was just perfect. I believe it was the best I've ever had. Terrible service the works are racist if you're not white and don't bother asking for a menu because they apparently can't provide them instead you're server will get annoyed with you and tell you to take it up with the front desk if you want a menu to know what food they serve can't say anything about the food the service since they didn't want to serve anything read more

We stopped here for a quick breakfast while passing through Amarillo. The chips and salsa were flavorful, and pretty standard. I had a breakfast plate with eggs a la mexicana, beans, bacon, and corn tortillas. It was very filling and because I filled up on chips, I had leftovers to take for the road. First time visit....and wow so good! Where to start. First of all the service was exceptional and our waitress made sure we had it all did not miss a beat. Food selection was too hard to choose so I married it down to a bowl of soup or enchiladas. Waitress recommended the beef soup with fresh handmade tortillas. We had tortilla chips and two salsas until the food arrived. The other person on my party had carnitas tacos and I tasted those as they came to the table first. Tender meat, delicate cheese sprinkled on them and refried beans that were smooth and comforting. Then my extra large bowl of soup arrived with two limes on the side. Large chunks of pot roast beef so tender the spoon just melted through them. There was potato, carrot, cabbage and onion in a delicate but flavorful beef base broth. I added some of the spicy salsa to mine as I'm a "spicy" girly and it was just perfect. As I mentioned a received homemade flour tortilla but had a choice of corn if desired. The tortillas are the ones that are hand thrown and chewy and just O.M.G. The best I've ever had. Don't walk ... run to this establishment. I will return again and again. read more

Their Chilequiles was so tasty and I have to say it was the first time I have ordered these at a restaurant where they cooked my eggs correctly. Service is always fast and prices are so reasonable. My food was salty and the service was slow and inattentive. Our wait staff didn't show us attention for most of our visit.

We were passing through Amarillo and stopped at El Charro for dinner. We are from DFW, and I can honestly say this was some of the absolutely best Mexican food I have ever had. Just very good, homemade type quality. And a very large range of types of Latin food to choose from on the menu. The made from scratch corn tortillas were amazing and made me think of the corn tortillas I had when I visited Guatemala. Our service was really excellent too; our server was extremely helpful and accommodating in regards to our daughter's food allergy (also just much better than service we get in regards to her food allergy at many restaurants we go to in DFW). Needless to say, I am disappointed that this unassuming gem is all the way out in Amarillo...we are going to have to come back here again next time we're out this way!! Highlights - I had the chipotle camarones (shrimp), which was delicious, the corn tortillas, and I was very impressed with the flan. June 23, 2023 As soon as you walk in it smells like you walked into a cattle pen. Seated quickly and received a glass of tea quickly. Nobody in here but two other couples so there's that. My order was brought out very quickly after I placed it. Tea refill was done only because of my waving down a waitress. The food appearance was very good but the taste was just not there. Rice and beans very bland and the neck bone meat was very scarce. The best part of the whole meal was the sopapillas and ice cream. I'll pass this place up next trip up here. read more

Food was decent. Overpriced in my opinion. I had the queso smothered burrito with asada and it was very good. The cheese enchiladas were not that great my hubby said. The queso was just cheese sauce but we added the salsa to it and that helped. read more

Friendly, attentive service; Eric was our waiter. Almost all the food is homemade and you can tell! I had the chile rellenos which were some of the best I've ever had. I don't usually eat the rice and beans, but they were very tasty too, especially the beans. The guacamole and salsa were delicious and homemade as well. Loved this place! We are from New Mexico and are picky about our Mexican food. The ground beef tacos were authentic with homemade made soft tortillas, cilantro and onions. Their delicious salsa topped them off. My husband had the smothered ground beef burrito, and he said it was delicious (coming from a man who rarely compliments food). I'm not an expert on Mexican good but have been to few on the East coast but I thought when I'm in an area like Amarillo I would like to try something more authentic. Well we were a party of four and none of us finished our meals. The rice was way over cooked and all of the dishes we picked were bland in flavor.
