WARNING! Stay away from this establishment. This was the last place I was able to use my debit/credit card. I received a text message from my bank due to fraudulent activity on my card just as the waitress came to tell me my card was declined (yes... I have money in the account). Ever since then my card has been frozen. Spoke to my bank and it seems a tester card has been made with my card number. For your safety and others... please pass this around. There is a shady employee working there!

We were going from Oklahoma City to Amarillo and decided to pick a great place in Amarillo : something we could look forward to after a long drive. We originally chose The West side location but settled on the East side because we were starving and guessed this location would be as good. First of all, the place on a Sunday afternoon was filled with locals. 90% Hispanic servers and patrons. The location is not swank, but it's right off the highway. Good for getting on and off easily. You can park right across from the location in a safe parking lot. Food : Huge portions . Huge. I wish I had shared . That being said I got the Guisado de Res so I could have ordered something less filling as a general rule. Rice and beans were excellent. And I LOVE rice and beans. The beef was very good but large portion, served with homemade tortillas. Also we ordered the large order of guacamole and it was very good, chunky with onion, cilantro, and jalapeños. A couple next to us ordered shrimp fajitas and I wanted to take them for myself before my own food came and if we go back my husband and I will get those. My son got a burrito and even that was great with queso but again large. My other son ordered a quesadilla and was a brat about it. (Kids order but I think it had a tiny bit of guacamole in it so we took it with us) My husband ordered enchiladas rancheros (beef) they were excellent. Also excellent very unique SALSA ---- really. They do not serve margaritas at this location only beer and wine . I wanted a margarita from them only the west side location serves them tho. So I may need to visit them when coming back through. Also fast service and very polite. Follow my on IG @bellacornicello for occasional foodie pics!

It was fine, but not great. Other location atmosphere is way better! Service was sloppy. Won't go back to this location.

    Delicious!

Pollo Adobado with corn tortillas! Great food. The chicken was perfect and loved the adobado. The corn tortillas were unique and the best I've had. Unfortunately no alcoholic drinks - a margarita would have earned a 5th star. Chips good and salsa on the spicy edge

They have Birria, great for a hangover which was the case today. Tortillas were hand made.

The staff was friendly but did not provide the best service throughout our meal. We shared the combo beef and chicken fajitas for one. The chicken was cooked perfectly tender, juicy, and full of flavor. The beef was a little overdone, but the fresh, homemade corn and flour tortillas were absolutely fantastic and made the meal even better. We also ordered the Tacos de Birria (goat) with consommé, and they were delicious! The meat was incredibly flavorful, and they came with a small cup of sauce that added even more flavor just be prepared because it packs some serious heat! The chips and queso were just okay, but overall we really enjoyed it being a convenient stop on our road trip home. Not sure if we will stop again when in town.

Visiting my girlfriend and her family in Amarillo led me to trying some of their favorite places in…read morethe city. My girlfriend's mom was especially excited to take me to El Tejaven while I was visiting. This dinner was a celebration of my girlfriend's sister playing in the top All-Region orchestra. It has nothing to do with the food itself, but I want to mention it because she did a great job performing and I think it deserves to be remembered here. It is the reason we went in the first place. It was a busy night at El Tejaven before we arrived. A group of 32 was just wrapping up dinner. Thirty two people. At that point, just cater, dawg. It took about 20 minutes after arrival to get seated, but it likely would have been much quicker if it were not for a group that size. Once we were seated, we were served chips and salsa. The salsa was spicier than I was prepared for, but it was good. The chips were excellent as well. Most people at the table ordered margaritas on the rocks, while I got a dressed Dos Equis on draft. From what I tasted, the margaritas were solid. For appetizers, we ordered the small queso and the small ceviche. The queso was standard but good. The ceviche, on the other hand, was exceptional. I could have eaten a large bowl by myself. I was pretty hungry, so I ordered the Orden de Tacos, which comes with four tacos on corn tortillas. I got all of them with al pastor. I also added a side of rice and beans, which normally comes with the three taco order but can be added on for the four tacos. The tacos were very good and exactly what you want from street style al pastor, especially with the cilantro and onions. It comes out to roughly four dollars per taco if you do the math. The rice and beans were both great and I ate all of it easily. The plate also came with a side of guacamole that had a nice kick, which I enjoyed. Living in Austin with family in San Antonio, it is easy to find good and authentic Mexican food. That does not always seem to be the case in Amarillo, so it is nice to know there is at least one spot in the city that feels authentic and not overly gringoified. My girlfriend's family knows ball. We were brought individual flights of salsa to go with the chips. My michelada hit the spot. Was it the best? No. But it scratched the itch. I couldn't decide on what to eat. Until I saw green chili stew and asado. I moved away from Midland in 2015. You don't really find asado away from West Texas. The music wasn't too loud and the lighting wasn't too bright or too dim. Overall, we enjoyed our meals. I'll likely stop back in the next time I'm in town.
