We live in area and finally got to the many antique and specialty shops on route 66 in Amarillo. We had heard of this Mexican restaurant from friends who thought it was excellent. So we ended our day with an amazing meal. We were seated quickly, and attended to immediately with salsa and chips. We tried their Housemade margaritas and we were not disappointed. Our service continued to be spot on both in timing and friendly personality. As the restaurant filled up, it did not seem crowded as there was ample room for everyone. The atmosphere was laid-back and we will return many times.

Wow! Great food and service. Found this place while driving thru Amarillo and had to stop. Chips and Salsa were delicious. The ground beef was so flavorful! Everything was general. Really good place to stop to eat. If in the area make sure you stop in.

Tried dry aged beef fajitas for the first time..great flavor!! The beef is served with melted cheese on top of crispy taco shell..YUMMO! Service was quick and good. The restaurant is very casual and is decorated with cute antique items.

Had dinner here tonight. Grok actually told us this was the best food in Amarillo (Mexican). I have to wholeheartedly agree! Joel took wonderful care of us. Chips and salsa came out first and both were very fresh with just the right amount of spiciness in the salsa!! My man had the veggie fajitas and he couldn't rave enough. It comes out in two plates, the grilled veggies on 1 and the beans, rice and garnish comes out on another! I had the beef fajitas chimichanga smothered in queso, with rice and beans. Everything was perfectly cooked, hot from the stove and delicious. The restaurant itself is clean and very festive in Mexican colors and decor. We will come back whenever we are in Texas and specifically Amarillo again!!

Plus for the top shelf margarita and the cute terracotta serving cups and terracotta plates. The plate stays hot longer keeping your meal hot longer. For me the food was mid. It tastes much like a Mexican food you get at almost any other restaurant. I will say their Chile relleno is massive compared to other rellenos I have tried in the past and the poblano peppers much thicker. Beyond that it's comparable to others I had. $15.99 with rice and beans it's worth it.

Food was okay but service was good. The enchiladas were pretty dry even with the sauce. The fajitas were good, tasty, tender and served on a hot plate

I was pleasantly surprised at our delicious Bracero's is. The service could be a bit more prompt, but the food is absolutely delicious. Also best Ranch Water's I have ever had. I ordered the Enchiladas Al Carbon - One chicken and one beef with Mole sauce. Sometimes mole is hit or miss, but this one had all the right flavors. I loved it so much I requested some extra mole sauce. The sauce was a bit on the light side and I like it extra saucy. Everyone's at our table enjoyed their meals.

Right along historic Route 66 lies this inconspicuous restaurant amongst the various antique and specialty shops. Inside, the atmosphere moves your eyes from displays and framed art with what sounds like current Latino hits which has the servers swaying in the service stations. The tortilla chips are thick and crisp and they're brought to the table with a small carafe of salsa. Entrees were neither too spicy nor North country bland. Ground beef enchilada were very tasty and the cheese enchilada, had no onions, both enchanced with the sour cream queso sauce. Beef tamale seemed to be a ground beef but still quite good, and the chicken tamale was smothered in a sauce along with cheese. Fried rice bordered on cooked too long/too moist but tasted good, especially with a dollop of their salsa. Added bonus. Spanish seems to flow here so could be a good place to practice the language and sway along with the servers. You know, to burn off all the calories consumed.

I have mixed feelings about Bracero's. The food was decent, the staff was slow, and vibe from the place was pretty good. Lots of old and cool art on the walls. Nothing is specifically labeled gluten free or dairy free but you can ask about it and mix up some of the menu items to meet your needs. I had a carne asada special. It was pretty dang good, so we're the rice and beans. The grilled onions the steak was on were cooked to death. The lettuce and tomatoes that came on the side were wilted and sad. Almost everyone in our party got huge entrees that were around 15 bucks. So it's definitely a deal. If you get margaritas, don't get the house, I'm not sure there is actually tequila in the tequila that goes in the margarita. The top shelf is what you have to get. We tried both.

Two enchiladas with beans and rice.

We just happen to look out and it was enchilada night. We both had two enchiladas with beans and rice for only $8.99. Everything was delicious starting with the fresh chips and salsa. The service was phenomenal and the staff was friendly. We would definitely go back next time in the area.

My girlfriend's mom was especially excited to take me to El Tejaven while I was visiting. This dinner was a celebration of my girlfriend's sister playing in the top All-Region orchestra. It has nothing to do with the food itself, but I want to mention it because she did a great job performing and I think it deserves to be remembered here. It is the reason we went in the first place. It was a busy night at El Tejaven before we arrived. A group of 32 was just wrapping up dinner. Thirty two people. At that point, just cater, dawg. It took about 20 minutes after arrival to get seated, but it likely would have been much quicker if it were not for a group that size. Once we were seated, we were served chips and salsa. The salsa was spicier than I was prepared for, but it was good. The chips were excellent as well. Most people at the table ordered margaritas on the rocks, while I got a dressed Dos Equis on draft. From what I tasted, the margaritas were solid. For appetizers, we ordered the small queso and the small ceviche. The queso was standard but good. The ceviche, on the other hand, was exceptional. I could have eaten a large bowl by myself. I was pretty hungry, so I ordered the Orden de Tacos, which comes with four tacos on corn tortillas. I got all of them with al pastor. I also added a side of rice and beans, which normally comes with the three taco order but can be added on for the four tacos. The tacos were very good and exactly what you want from street style al pastor, especially with the cilantro and onions. It comes out to roughly four dollars per taco if you do the math. The rice and beans were both great and I ate all of it easily. The plate also came with a side of guacamole that had a nice kick, which I enjoyed. Living in Austin with family in San Antonio, it is easy to find good and authentic Mexican food. That does not always seem to be the case in Amarillo, so it is nice to know there is at least one spot in the city that feels authentic and not overly gringoified. My girlfriend's family knows ball. We were brought individual flights of salsa to go with the chips. My michelada hit the spot. Was it the best? No. But it scratched the itch. I couldn't decide on what to eat.
