Visiting Jacksonville and I was looking forward to finding a good Dominican salon. Clean and friendly environment but not happy with my daughter or my hair. We went in for a wash and cut. The hairdresser barely put any product in our hair after our haircuts. My daughters hair started to dry and frizz while she was waiting for me to get mine done. I asked her to put some product in her hair and she stated if I want a product I have to buy it from her. Definitely not worth going there again. read more

I have been a patron of San Juan Hair salon for around 5 years. I first found out about it through a friend. I'm one of those customers that will go to any salon for a blowout but don't entrust just anyone for haircut or color. I will blindly go here for any service. They are knowledgeable, super nice and excellent at what they do. I have gotten different services done here from rainbow colored streaks to lightening my hair to darkening it to getting treatments like Botox. Rebecca, Darlene, my favorite hairstylist Anais and the other ladies are the best at what they do and so knowledgeable. I love this place so much that I sometimes just stop by to say hi even though I don't have an appointment. Let me also add that I am black with super thick, natural hair! Now having said that, this was NO problem for Anais, she did awesome work! So I just recently relocated from Orlando to the Jacksonville area and I needed a new hair stylist a.s.a.p. I'm black, with curly hair, and I usually go to dominican hair salons in Orlando. So, I gave this salon a try even though they were not advertised as an ethnic salon. I'm SO glad I did. My stylist was Anais. I got a wash, blow dry, and flat iron. I was in the chair for the wash and out of the door in under 2 hours! My mind was kind of blown lol. But speed aside, my hair looked great. I did see another stylist doing another clients hair and it looked great as well. So, I'm sure all of the stylists were great. I'll def be going back. read more

I went here asking for balayage because an acquaintance recommended the place. After 2 attempts in the same day, it wasn't how I imagined but didn't look horrible. I understand balayage isn't easy to do. I came back asking for a refund which was given to me with no questions asked. PLUS, they gave me a free hair treatment! I arrived at 9:00am for my appointment which I had confirmed over a week ago with Yanet Velasco, i waited until about 9:15am for the salon doors to open and i waited an until 9:25am for Darlene to call Yanet and let her know I had been waiting. Yanet tried to say she tried calling me and that I had put the number wrong.I got onto my profile and saw that my phone number was indeed correct. I left as Darlene said it would take Yanet another 30 mins to get to the salon making it 10:00am when my appointment had been set for 9:00am. Upset at this, I got up to leave Darlene chased me out trying to get me to stay. I wouldn't make an appointment here again they lost out on $200 it doesn't matter how good the reviews are if someone can't show up to their appointment on time I don't want it & blame me for having the wrong number how unprofessional. read more

Had a great experience today with Rose! As many curly haired girls may know, finding a hairstylist that knows how to cut thick curly hair is very hard to find. Rose listened to my concerns, she made sure we were both on the same page, & she explained everything she was doing as she was cutting my hair. I didn't have time for a blow out but she used just ONE hair product for my curls to air dry which held my curls without frizz or weighing them down! Very pleasant and easy to talk to. The other hairstylists were also very nice. Nice atmosphere and family friendly. They were all great with my 4 yr old who was with me and also had a haircut. Very happy! Been seeing Darlene for over 5 years now & excited when she opened her own hair salon! She is very hands on & spends a lot of time "perfecting" my hair....she picks the perfect color & hairstyle. Whenever she blow dries my hair, I just don't want to wash it for days. I get compliments with my beautiful everywhere I go & recommended her to quote few people. Price is really good. We were in town visiting family members and my pre-teenage daughter wanted a day at Salon. After searching salons in the Jacksonville area for about 15 minutes, I came across this place. Professional hairstylists are hard to come by. Most places overcharge and do mediocre work. The wash and blow-dry , and flat iron was $45, quite reasonable and for an excellent result. However, this place was amazing. Super modern and clean. Darlene welcomed us with a wonderful smile and offered beverages. The wait time was minimal, appointment was made over the phone earlier and sure enough my daughter was treated as a princess. Her beautiful long curly hair, was washed and blow-dry with precision and quality. Angelica devoted all her time to her customer's needs. No interruptions. Our time was limited, but I will definitely return to this place , for myself. I felt a little jealous that I didn't schedule an appointment for me. so...i am mixed race, and have some crazy hair..and alot of people dont know how to cut it..so ive had some really bad cuts..and this time i was so traumatized that i waited several years to get another hair cut..i mustered up all my courage and made an appointment here because the yelp reviews were great and two coworkers said it was a great place..i showed up and was greeted so warmly that i felt more comfortable right away..i then met Rose, my stylist..she talked to me about my hair, the last time i had a cut, my anxiety about it all..she is top notch, the bees knees, the best..shes friendly, shes knowledgeable, and she has some great hair herself!! she cut off quite a bit of hair, and even though she said i could stand to lose some more to get rid of damage, that she didnt want me to hate it and be upset so wed stick with this amount for now..she also told me about sunscreen for hair, as my hair gets super light in the summer time..the whole time i was here, there was music playing..the stylist were chatting with clients, there was even someone that came in and they all hugged and laughed..this is an experience..this is how getting a hair cut should be..and did i mention i walked out with some really amazing looking hair? she washed, conditioned, cut, blew dry and then flat ironed..all with focus and care..i just cant thank Rose enough for the bounce in my step when i left the shop..i also had a date that night, and he liked it too :) read more

Not from the aria but was visiting for a wedding and called in for a last minute appointment. They where booked but managed to accommodate me and schedule me in. Since I was running short on time they allowed me to wash and dry my own hair and they would style it for me. Anais styled my hair she was quick and did an amazing job. I'm usually not a Yelper and usually take my services elsewhere when I'm not happy, but I figured I'd let future clients know my experience with Anais. I've been going to San Juan for quite some time now, seen by Anais. Her work is good and on average she's booked weeks out. After back and fourth for 3.5 weeks we were finally able to set aside a day that worked for the both of us. 2 hours before my balayage appointment she TEXTED me to cancel. She told me she'd work her schedule to fit me in after salon hours because my schedule was already packed, hence why I booked when I did. After 5 days, I am finally able to get a hold of her and she says she's not able to fit me in after hours (as promised). I get it- the days get long and the last thing you want to do is stay after work to work on a client. My thing is, don't offer after hour services if you can't go through with your word. I once booked an appointment here. It was my first time as a customer here and it wasn't the greatest experience. I arrived early and when my stylist came and took me in. I wanted my bangs trimmed and hair washed. She did wash my hair but then she had me wait on the chair with wet hair while taking care of a previous client. It took about 30 minutes of my appt time. That wasn't so bad and she did give me a haircut but she didn't dry my hair, even though she dried my bangs and I thought that she would do the rest but she didn't. I told her I would like it dried and she said she would have to take care of she next client before doing me. I don't know if I made a mistake with my request or what, but it didn't feel right to me that she used some of my appt time for another client. I don't know if I'll come back again and I felt really humiliated. :( I was really disappointed. read more

This young lady is amazing! She is a talent you do not see every day. I had color, foil, gloss, mask and cut. I was very specific with what I was looking to achieve. I showed her photos. Worst hair salon experience of my life! I'm new two the Jacksonville area and was looking for a stylist that could do a blowout on natural chemical free hair. The longest I've ever spent in a salon for a simple process such as this...was an hour an a half. My appointment was for 11am with a stylist by the name of Maxie. After waiting for over a half hour she came out, introduced herself and informed me she was running behind and would be with me shortly. Long story short. She didn't wash my hair until 12:50pm....put conditioner on my hair and had me go sit back in the lobby with a shower cap on my head until after 2pm. I was beyond pissed at that point. I asked someone how much longer was it going to be because I needed to be out of there by 3. Clearly my time didn't matter to her. I had only been there since 11am. It gets better. She had another stylist blow dry my hair which whom never introduced herself, just slapped some product on my hair, she hit me with the blow dryer at least 3-4 times and never apologized. I felt like a dog off the street being groomed at a low budget groomers. I would never go back there or recommend anyone to go there. I didn't leave there until almost 5pm! The fact that she still expected me to pay her for the half assed less than mediocre job she did to my hair.....on top of me spending over 5hrs there absolutely amazes me. The only reason why I'm giving the place a star is because of the owner Darlene. I had the opportunity to speak with her and she apologized on behalf of the horrible experience I had and even offered to have me come back and let her do my hair. read more
