Came here yesterday for dinners with a friend and we both really enjoyed our meals! I got the shrimp burrito and the texture of the shrimp was perfect. It was a heavier burrito than I expected it to be since it had a cheese crust on the tortilla but it had a very good flavor and fresh ingredients. Hands down one of THE BEST tacos I've had, and that's including San Diego tacos! This was such a great find, I cannot believe we never tried it until now. I got 3 tacos - campechano, pastor, barbacoa. All were great, but my favorite is the pastor, the marinade is just on another level. Bf ordered a carne burrito and omg the meat is so tender, juicy and so full of flavor. I'm drooling as I type this! Definitely highly recommend this spot, hidden in west gate area. Check Google for the exact location because the one listed here is incorrect. Only two tables so seating is limited. The food can take a while to cook (at least it did when we went and there was only one person ahead of us) but it's worth it so be patient. I promise you'll love it! read more

These guys are congenial and really know how to make amazing Mexican food. Highly recommend their tacos the most out of everything on the menu, but their burritos and quesadilla are amazing as well. This place gives you above average sized servings of everything so make sure to place your order in accordingly. Your typical 3 taco order from a restaurant is probably equal to 2 tacos here. Going down south for Sunday breakfast tacos. A truck called Michoacanos. Did my typical chorizo and egg and bacon and egg on flour to test things. Flour tortillas were average. Good flavor. A bit too thick. Warmed slightly. I should say here that both salsas I got were pretty watery. Red salsa had some great, but too watery to be any good. Eggs were good in both, but the bacon left a lot to be desired. Very fatty. Not cooked enough. The chorizo was good. Substantial amount. About $4 per taco. Two was a meal. Pretty average score for me unfortunately. Nothing bad, but not particularly good either. Three stars. read more

Nom nom, I found my new favorite taco spot down South. My trusty tacos spot has always been Pueblo Viejo for breakfast tacos - I'm not as big for meat tacos but Nixta Taqueria and Cuantos are pretty good. This place surprised me with all their options, the menu was huge with breakfast, meat tacos, burritos and other snacks too. I had the bean, egg & cheese taco and birria and both were tasty. They were a decent sized, very flavorful. The birira was dipped in consomme before cause I only bought one, not too cheesy like Love C Spot. I also tried the elote which of course made me super bloated lol but tasted yummy. You can order to go beforehand and the people are nice there. I live just 1 minute away and drive by the Bread Basket on Jones Road everyday where they are parked. I noticed they were new in the parking lot but they had a line of people. First of all I will start by saying I refuse to pay for Mexican food because being Mexican I have high expectations and most places in Austin are not good at all. I gave this place a shot and it is so good. They have two picnic tables with umbrellas and I sat there to enjoy my meal. Very authentic tasting. I got the huarache with bistec and a cantaloupe agua fresca. The huarache was decent size with the perfect amount of toppings on it. I love that the agua frescas are made to order so they are fresh and the cup size they give you are big! I have not tried anything else on the menu and already went back 3 times but I do recommended those items. I did try the elote in cup on my third visit and it was good but they don't use lime in it which is my only complaint. This is a hidden gem! Located in a small unassuming trailer park, the menu will satisfy any of your cravings. The star of the meal was definitely the quesabirria (decadent, you will ask for more dripping consome to dip your tacos)! The tacos are excellent, super fresh and flavorful. The food was so amazing and fresh. I ordered the quesabirria tacos with the watermelon juice. The tacos where a perfect balance of meat and cheese and a bit of crunch. The watermelon juice taste like it was fresh squeezed and it was in a humongous cup I savored every sip literally. The tacos also came with two different types of salsa they weren't too spicy. This place is tucked away in the back of an awkward parking lot behind a car wash. There are two windows on the food trailer, and it's never clear which you're supposed to go to when picking up or ordering--I've never chosen correctly. Cheerful tejano music pours out of the windows while the exterior TV blasts reggaton music videos at the same time. At night the super bright LED light strips surrounding each window blind your eyes while you navigate the impenetrable language barrier. It's mayhem, but I keep going back. As the way of the food truck life rolls, I've always assumed a prominent location would be key. Not necessarily first and foremost or even top 3 but...top 5 on the list of critical factors? You would think. So if you're going to park your food truck in the weird purgatorial zone between the back of an aging shopping center and an old eclectic neighborhood, you better be batting 1.000 on the other variables. And they do. The first thing I told my wife when we drove up was, "To survive back here, they have to have amazing food." Well, they do. The pastor gringas were next level, with the pineapple sneaking in to remind you their ingredients are fresh and this puppy was prepared the hard way. The campechano tacos were pretty memorable, and as were the five mini tacos. Two BIG, MASSIVE, things stood out. They do it the long way, there is no easy short cuts. The watermelon water tasted like a real watermelon was chilling around just a few minutes prior. The corn, the horchata, all of it, felt, tasted like it was prepared just for you. And those tortillas, whoa. They were tasty but not too thick, string but not chewy. They were perfection and worth one whole star just on their own. Five out of five, gotta try them out. read more

Best tacos in the city. I've been here several times in the last month now, each time with at least one other person, and gotten spreads of different things and worked thru maybe half the menu. Constantly hits every mark (consistency, proper portion, presentation, seasoning, balance, timeliness). All masa (pambazos, tacos, quesadillas, sopes, huaraches) is pressed and cooked to order. Some places have lots of different meats, but end up seeming like they used the same timer, temperature and method to cook, nothing stands out. Here each protein is cooked to its proper texture, and full of flavor. You can taste the love and expertise in each order. Two people take orders and cook. Super friendly and attentive each time. They even have fruit desserts and drinks, like rusas, mangoneadas, and agua fresca made from a long list of somehow always perfectly ripe fruit, always enough chamoy and chile to balance it. The menu can be a bit overwhelming at first but now we start planning our next order by the time we finish the current one. There is something for everyone here and none of it disappoints. read more
