Boyfriend found this ice cream spot as we walked for a while in San Marco. It's basically like a walk up shop, you order at one window and pick up at another. There are some benches to sit at and there's a parking lot across the street. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a cute little place with very friendly staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] However so many ice cream options it was hard to decide. We had three people ask if we were ready to pick and we weren't... ha. They mentioned there's a little buzzer by the window when we're ready to order. I ended up getting a medium Twix shake and he got a pineapple dole in a bowl. He really enjoyed his ice cream. I don't usually break out of my routine with ice cream but I did this time, by getting Twix. I'm usually a Reese's pieces or Oreo fan. Mine was very good, I wish there were more Twix in it but this might just be the sweet tooth in me. The shake did come with a straw but it was too thick to use the straw lol. So I used the spoon that was given with the shake. Still was solid. We both were pretty full before even getting to finish our dishes. The place does provide wet wipes for your hands for how sticky ice cream can be which is awesome. Ice cream is always good in my books. :) read more

Dreamette missed the mark on this one. I approached the window and waiting a couple of second. I was greeted with a warm hello. I asked did they have a strawberry shortcake. Im a first timer and did not have a chance to view their menu. BIG MISTAKE! The counter person replied, "We do". She asked if I wanted a small, medium or large shortcake. I wanted just a small one to taste the pound cake, vanilla ice cream and the succulent strawberries. However to my surprise I was given a strawberry ice cream with a pound cake. I got a chocolate\vanilla swirl. It did not have much flavor, but it was overwhelmingly sweet. I ended up tossing a lot of it. I got a waffle cone which was good and they provided a little plastic cone holder to protect your hand from drips. That was a nice innovation. read more

No matter where the Dreamette is located, I will be there. I absolutely love soft serve and this beautiful walk-up space in the heart of San Marco is a wonderful place to get it. I am a purist and generally go for a cake cone with chocolate/vanilla twist with chocolate dip, or a vanilla cone with chocolate sprinkles. It's really the only place I enjoy a cone at all no matter how messy it can be on a hot day. Upside: Pricing is moderate but portions are plenty! Ice cream and shakes were delicious. I love that they gave a drip catch thing for the cones and large shake straws. Downside: cotton candy slushy was more slushy and less flavor. Outside could get cramped and there isn't tables to sit at. There are benches but not many and more like park benches positioned next to each other so your sitting very close to people you don't know. Place that sells ice cream should really have some better seating as most people don't want to drive with ice cream. I would come again if I was in the area. read more

I have been wanting to try dreamette ever since I moved here and I'm so glad I finally did!! I went on my birthday and I asked if they did any special things for birthdays, and the person at the counter was kind enough to give us a very generous discount. I got a small ("small" -- I should've gotten the kids size!!) vanilla soft serve cone with the birthday cake dip, and it was a little on the sweeter side for me, but it was still delicious!! My boyfriend got a banana pudding shake which was also delicious and tasted so fresh!! I also love that they serve the cones with the plastic barrier that catches the ice cream drip! I used to come to this location for my kettles of hot tea and or coffee. The lay out is totally different now. There is no entry. You order at the window and then migrate to the pick up window. There are several cement benches to sit and rest while you wait for your order. They did have training going on and it was most impressive. Training is very important. One is only as good as one is trained. I ordered a cookie dough medium sized milkshake. Girl! That thing wanted to make me dance! It was delicious. Pros:they do accept cash or debit card at this location. Friendly employees! Great treats for everyone. Great location. Cons:it was hot outside while waiting for my shake. I have always loved Dreamette, but I especially love this location. All the employees are always friendly and they make your order really fast. They have a big selection of flavors and ways to get them. I crave the banana split in a cup all the time so I pretty much just get that but occasionally I'll switch it up with a chocolate/vanilla swirl cone dipped in the peanut butter dip. Even though there are only a few parking spots on the right side of the building, there has always been at least one open when I went. Some people park across the street also. read more

Customer service is pitiful for great ice cream. Save your money and your dignity by going to Milkster down the road. This place is not getting my money anymore. My family made their orders but when it came to my turn, I asked for a chocoholic to go. It was for my partner's daughter to have after work. They made the family orders just fine but then gave me the order I made with the hot fudge. I said I asked for it to go. My partner was met with some argument that they already made it. They finally made it right but something as simple as TO FO does not register. So, I tipped for crap service. And do t want to come back. San Marco Dreamette is a great spot for soft serve, and has become a regular stop for my family when we're in the mood for ice cream. They have most of the usual items- cones, milkshakes, and sundaes, but don't have arctic swirls/Blizzards (which is quite unusual for a soft serve shop in my book). I normally get a small sundae or a cone, and the portions are quite large in my book. I'm not particularly sure how you could finish a medium or large cone before it melts, even in the winter... but I digress. The ice cream itself is usually quite good, and their sundae toppings are tasty. There's off street parking available, which is always welcome in San Marco. The staff is friendly and fast, and prices are reasonable. What more can you ask for in a soft serve shop (aside from a Blizzard-like item, that is)? Oooh this is definitely my new local ice cream spot. My boyfriend and I were walking to get coffee, when we realized the coffee shop was closed. We were near Dreamette so we decided to try their ice cream instead. It was definitely a better pick-me-up than a latte! The sizes are HUGE! I got a kids size and it was way too much. We will probably share a kids size or small next time. I loved seeing the vegan vanilla on the menu and I can't wait to try all of the dipping flavors available. For my first experience I went with the toasted coconut. My boyfriend got the strawberry swirl dipped in chocolate. I ordered a sugar cone but was given it in a cake cone. I'm not sure if they have sugar cones. Next time I will get it in a bowl because I couldn't keep up with eating it and it melted all over the place. The ice cream was good, but the toasted coconut was the highlight. Next time I will get regular vanilla instead of the vegan vanilla. Their whole menu sounded amazing and prices are good. We went in the middle of the day so there was no line. We are new to town and heard this is a very popular spot. We have visited a few times now and my boyfriend also loves the root beer float. I have been a fan of Dreamette since I moved to Jax in 2016 when visiting the original Murray Hill location. The closing of the Bold Bean here in San Marco was bittersweet for me, losing a local coffee spot but gaining a Jacksonville ice cream gem. They offer the classic soft serve ice cream, along with shakes, floats, sundaes, freezes with a wide variety of toppings and flavors. Visited this Dreamette for the first time late Friday. The establishment was very busy, I always consider that a good sign. Service was great. Greeted at the window with a warm smile. My husband and I both had medium cones. I had the vanilla with sprinkles & he had a swirl. It was a great evening. Unfortunately the next day we both paid for that yummy treat with extreme GI issues.
