My wife and I were in town for a soccer match (winners!) and needed a late lunch. Our normal go-to spot in Seymour, Larrison's Diner, was closed because it was after 2:00 in the afternoon so we needed something new. Our first choice was a little fish sandwich shop that looked a bit different, but after they turned out to be closed that day we went across the street to San Marcos. And holy heck am I glad we did! It looks like a typical Mexican place inside - bright colors, decor from the same restaurant supply store every Mexican restaurant seems to use, but with the addition of what I would consider the 'nightclub section' with a dance floor, multiple lighting effects and a big video board. It was early afternoon, so obviously that area wasn't in use but I bet it's an interesting place after dark! Service was great - quick to the table, easy refills on everything. My wife ordered the Chimichanga and I went against my norms and did the 'create your own' platter and chose three items: Burrito, Chimi, and another Chimi. This was strategic because USUALLY when you see a 'create your own' that means tiny sized items - half a burrito, half a chimi, etc. - figured I wanted more chimi than burrito. Seems they don't do that here. My platter was HUGE. Full-sized beef burrito, delish. TWO full-sized beef chimichangas. Also delish. Plus beans and rice. I even did something I never do: Asked for a box to take an entire chimichanga home with us. Wife loved hers as well. This is a must-repeat. In fact, Larrison's may be the past and this place is my future the next time I'm in Seymour. Which is likely never, but if we are anywhere nearby, we'd make a side trip to eat here again. read more

We just stumbled into this place as the restaurant we were intending to go to was closed (apparently because of staff shortages ). San Marcos is an absolute find. If we lived in Seymour I'd be here weekly. To start, the chips were just made and the accompanying salsa had a delightfully different flavor. Together just perfect. I had the Shrimp Vera Cruz which was shrimp and sliced potatoes in a nicely spiced red sauce and served with a salad and rice. My wife ordered the Carnitas Street Tacos served with rice and refried beans. The carnitas were perfectly grilled. The taco shells were also so fresh. Great food but refused use discount card on my order robbed me of 5 dollars because she didnt understand and refused to get the manager

So close to 5 stars. Only 2 drawbacks. The rice was mediocre and I didn't order a drink because they have a 2 refill limit. Otherwise great! Everything was made with care and had complex flavor. We both had chimichangas. I had a beef and and chicken. She had shrimp. The shells were fried perfectly, nice and crispy. I was sad the chicken is packed with peppers and onions. I don't like these but it was very flavorful chicken after I picked them out. If you like pepper and onion it would be even better. The beef was awesome so beefy Just a little onion there. Here shrimp looked nice a decent 8 count of them. The beans were just the way I like them with plenty of cumin. Service was solid. This is a pleasantly open spaced restaurant. read more

Ate there once. Food was good. But you have to wait a long time to get it, whether you're eating in or DoorDashing.

Group of us stopped here as we traveled back from Louisville, KY. I had fajitas, others had burritos and taco salad. Fajitas were good with natural flavor from onions, peppers, and tomatoes. Other guest complained that their food was bland, no flavor in ground beef, and somewhat disappointed. The restaurant was clean, and wait staff was attentive. Went in with reservations for a group of 18 everyone's food order was wrong, some people waited 25 minutes after everyone else got their food. Water taste horrible! Bathrooms where filthy. Don't waist your time go to Taco Bell. Then they tried to add the tip of 18% we waited for everything. Beware. read more

San Marcos has great food for a reasonable price. Nothing can beat 99 cent (hard) Taco Tuesday! They're specialty soft tacos are what I get every time and I'm never disappointed, plus they're only about $1.50 a taco. Their blended drinks are pretty basic, but still delicious. one of the best Mexican food places I have eaten at the food is good and the service is fast a good choice for a good dinner

Service was awful, tip was added without our knowledge or consent, food was mediocre....It started good, then the cheese dip came out looking like formula spit-up, the menu was confusing and they didn't have just a normal grilled chicken, there were lots of weird combinations, so I ordered an appetizer as an entrée, which is what led me to scrutinizing the bill to double check the charges. Once we were finished, we waited 10 minutes to get a check and to go boxes, and ran out of drinks during the wait, I flagged down the waitress who waved at me and still took 5 minutes to actually arrive at our table. Then while reading the check, we saw a service fee of $5.59 on a check total of $38. We asked before we paid what that was and she said it was the tip. Then the receipt came out with a place to add a tip, we gave an additional $0, but had I not read the check, which I don't at most places, We would have added a tip to the already charged tip. So make sure you READ THE CHECK!!!! The service was definitely not worth a $5 tip! But we were not given an option to not pay it as it was a charge on the finalized bill.
