This is my second year getting my annual eye checkup with Dr. Toan Nguyen, and I can say that I've found my forever annual eye checkup place. The space is modern and clean. Staff are super friendly, and Dr. Nguyen is very knowledgeable and professional (not to mention also very chill and laidback). Their office seems to offer a wide variety of glasses/frames (although I, myself, don't wear glasses). On top of that, they also carry a great selection of dry eye products. For those of you who work a job that consists of staring at a computer for a good chunk of their time like I do, I would highly recommend trying them out! read more

It was a pleasure meeting Sydney, Willie and Dr Nguyen at San Marino Optometry when I went in for my annual eye exam and contact lens fitting. I was truly impressed with the entire experience at San Marino Optometry (SMO)! The team made me feel relaxed and comfortable, and addressed all of my questions and requests. Dr Nguyen is so personable, knowledgeable, answered all of my questions and was able to perform my eye exams, prescribe and fit me with a set of daily wear trial contact lenses at my appointment! The new contacts from Dr Nguyen are so much more comfortable than the monthly contacts I've been prescribed (by my former optometrist) and have used for many years! My vision is also much sharper with the toric lens Dr Nguyen prescribed. I also ordered new lenses with my new prescription for my existing frames. SMO grinds their lenses and integrates the lenses into the frames in house so once your lenses are ready, you can drop your eyeglasses off and they will put the new lenses in the same day - Bonus! Thank you San Marino Optometry! read more

If you are big on first impressions, then you'll be impressed as soon as you walk in. The office is immaculate and smells so good and clean. You will be greeted by a friendly staff that is genuinely eager to help you. My five star review goes beyond the appearance of the office but to my dry eye consultation which turned out to be more enlightening than I ever thought. I had been to urgent care for "eye infections" in the last year not knowing I was dealing with a more serious issue. Dr. Nguyen spotted it right away during the exam and even showed me where the problem areas were. He immediately sent prescription drops to my pharmacy and gave me recommended steps to take with my primary care doctor. I am so thankful that he was able to help me and was so helpful in the process. 100% recommend this office. read more

There are two ophthamologists at San Marino Optometry, and one optometrist. Actually, maybe even more! All are exceptional . Service is top notch, and the selection of frames is very large. The receptionist, Willie, is friendly and welcoming. It's a pleasure to go there for eye exams and new frames. It looks tiny from the street, but it's nice and comfortable inside. I highly recommend it! read more

COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open and available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing my glasses from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is located in the back. However, it is very tiny. People primarily park in the front of the establishment because there are several parking spots for people to choose from. The downside of parking in the front is backing up into traffic to leave. I lowkey hate backing into traffic. Staff: The staff here are very fast, knowledgeable, friendly, welcoming, and professional. The store itself is very clean, neat, and tidy. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum. read more

Based on the Yelp reviews I've read, I wanted to find an optometry office closer to home and was able to use VSP vision insurance. I was so happy today to have my vision tested by another provider, as my previous doctor sold the business and does not take VSP. The staff are so friendly and the office is immaculate. Sydney was my hostess who tested my general eye characteristics with new equipment and documented periferal vision, as well as the physical characteristics of each eye. Once I completing testing, I next met with the good doctor who tested my eyesight and compared my existing glasses with our testing today. There were no real surprises thankfully, and I was happy that it was completed in less than an hour. I commented to Doctor Nguyen that I really like how he docorated the front office, but was told it was all his wife's design. Thank you Dr. Nguyen and your wife for my excellent first visit! read more

So blessed to have Dr Nguyen, Wily, and their San Marino Optometry team here right next door--simply put, the best local optometry clinic and eyeglass store I could ask for. Love my glasses I got here two years ago. I was pretty rough with them at the gym and had to get the nose bridge replaced. The turnaround time was a few days and the price was quite reasonable. My experience was so good that I purchased the same pair with polarized lenses for driving and outdoor activities. Concierge service, top end product, local family owned business? Yes please!!! read more

Overall it's okay. The co-pay is high but I didn't get what I paid for. i have very high prescription. The doctor was very rushed jn getting my exam done. It took less than 10 mins and he gave me a similar prescription without efforts to improve my vision. read more

This is now my new go to optometrist! I called in to see if they were able to take a walk-in in the next hour on a Saturday. They accommodated me and I was in n out within an hour. The service was amazing. Everyone in the front knew all the patients by name as they walked in. The office itself is so clean and Dr. Nguyen was very thorough. He took his time to explain the photos of my eyes and addressed all my questions with confidence. I left knowing and feeling that I was taken care and in good hands. read more

I have been going to Dr. Nguyen for over two years now and every visit has been wonderful. Dr. Nguyen is very professional, caring, and thorough. Unlike other optometrists, he conversates and ask about your lifestyle and give you advise on what you should do to refrain from straining your eyes. What I really love about this place is that they do their best to help you as a consumer. Every time I order my contacts from them, they give me the best price and sends me information about rebates (if any). read more

If you're looking for an optometrist, I highly recommend Dr. Nguyen and his team! I struggle with dry eyes and Dr. Nguyen gave me recommendations and prescribed me some eyebrops. He answered my questions and made me feel comfortable throughout my whole appointment. I was in and out in a timely manner and the ladies in the front, Willie and Sydney, were very kind! Five years later, I love seeing my eye doctor every year! And every year I am there, I love seeing how different and technologically advanced the office has become. There's always something new added to make my visit easier and as painless as possible. The doctor and staffs are excellent and highly professional. I was concerned about my eyes, and Dr. Nguyen quickly addressed it during my annual visit. I love their new website/app feature that allows me to pick out frames ahead of time so it'll be ready during my appointment. read more

I highly recommend this office for your vision needs. Parking: the office is located off Huntington Drive and there is street parking there. It is a busy street so if you get antsy trying to back out into oncoming traffic they also have a small parking lot out back and they are very nice about letting you through the back door. For appointments you can easily schedule thru their website or by phone. I was first referred by my sister to this office after the thorough care she received, and she liked how Dr. Nguyen was uptodate with studies to share with her. I previously followed with Dr. Phan and more recently with Dr. Nguyen as Dr. Phan has limited appointments at the office but both provide excellent care. Their office utilizes the latest technology for the eye exams. They are very patient and will explain their findings with you and what risks you may have and what to watch out for. They can also manage eye emergencies which is a relief to know you won't need to go to the ER to see a doctor who doesn't know your history but even if the office is closed they will take care of you. Visits here make you feel like a visit to a family/friend. As a patient here you won't feel like a customer they are trying to sell random things to. The doctors will even come out and help you look for eyeglass frames that fit your face. The front desk staff is also very welcoming. Overall you get a pleasant experience here. read more

Life changing! This review is a long time in coming. Thank you Dr. Nguyen! Ive had eye problems all my life. Ive been to other eye dr's over the years and I have needed a cataract surgery on my remaining seeing eye. I've had unsuccessful surgery on my right eye resulting in loss of sight. The past few years I've dealt with having the surgery or not. The other Dr's pretty much said it's too risky and up to me. After speaking with Dr. Nguyen he convinced me to get it done. Glad I had it done I went from seeing 20/80 to 20/30. Now on to the office, what can I say? The office is loaded with the most up to date equipment and is "spotless" and the staff are the best. I like the fact that you aren't rushed and the Dr. explains everything. Parking is easy in front of the business. Thank you again San Marino Optometry! read more

Wonderful service. Helpful, responsive and thoughtful! Willie and Sydney were excellent!

Just had my first visit to San Marino Optometry. What a great experience! Dr. Toan Nguyen is the first optometrist in memory who took the time to understand me and my relationship with glasses and contacts. I felt he really listened and responded with information or suggestions. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful -- even taking time out to help me try on numerous lenses I pointed out and make suggestions for what looked best. It's really nice when you find a provider that you'll know you'll want to come back to again and again. I fully recommend San Marino Optometry. read more

I came across this location while I was researching local optometrist. From the moment I requested an appointment staff was extremely helpful. When my partner and I walked in we were automatically acknowledged and greeted. Super friendly staff, I felt like I have been a patient there for many years, mind you it was our first visit.Dr. Nguyen was AMAZING! Great bedside manners, he was very informative and he actually took his time to get to know you as a patient. The exam didn't feel rushed at all, it was adequate time spent with the doctor. In terms of facility, beautiful location very clean and bright. I will definitely recommend to not look any further for another optometrist, Dr. Nguyen office is the correct location for you to established your eye care! read more

First off... I have to say... I LOVE my beautiful Kio Yamato shades! They are handmade in Japan and it feels so light and comfortable on my face. It's been years and I've finally found a pair that I LOVE !!! Thank you San Marino Optometry  for being honest and patient with me as I tried on many different pairs. Upon arrival, the staffs were very friendly and quick to greet me. The ambiance was very nice. The office décor definitely caught my eyes. Very clean and modern. (I am very particular when it comes to eye care and I believe the office reflects it owners.) They also have a cute stand for coffee, tea, or water! (super like!!!) It was my first exam with Dr. Phan. She was very informative, detailed, and friendly. She explained each steps for me, which I appreciate. What's so cool about the process is that she recorded my eye exam and showed me what she meant by dry eyes. They also have a Dry Eye Spa, which I am coming back for!!! :) Overall, the experience was very nice and comfortable. Will return for sure! I am happy to know that if she isn't there, her husband Dr. Nguyen would be to help me. These two optometrists are amazing and super friendly. I highly recommend this place to everyone! For those who has Eyemed for your insurance plan, they do take that. :) Also, what I like most is that you can book online, so you don't have to call!! The office is located a few stores left from Pop Physique. Parking is free! read more

My last doctor gave me contacts lenses that were too dry and made my eyes hurt. Dr. Phan made sure to get me daily contacts that were comfortable and gave me trials to make sure I liked them. I've been going here for years. Dr. Nguyen and his staff are the best. Very nice and the place is super clean. They have the best machines and Dr. Nguyen thoroughly explains everything to you. The parking is free and it's very easy to get to. Highly recommend. read more

I've never been a fan of any type of medical facility, but you can tell that Dr. Nguyen really cares about his patients and their welfare and comfort. Explanations are super simple to understand, and he doesn't make you feel stupid for asking questions (even if I did ask a very stupid question). My prescription is very high, and my old glasses kept giving me a headache. This was even with high-index lens. Instantly felt better with my new glasses because Dr. Nguyen actually took the time to make sure the lens were in line with my eyes (i.e. no more vertigo effect). The glasses themselves were a little tight against my ear bone, but Dr. Nguyen was able to adjust them afterwards. Now they're perfectly snug and fashionable to boot! ^^ This is also the only place where my son will sit still for his eye exams, so that alone warrants the rating. Everything else is just cherries. read more

I've been coming here for a few years and I am just getting around to writing a review. Dr. Nguyen is wonderful and thorough. I never feel rushed or as if he is just rushing me through my annual exam. He wants to know how my eyes are doing! And it feels like my vision health is actually being cared for, which is nice. They have a beautiful selection of frames as well, which is always the fun part to wearing glasses!! read more

Clean space, competent and helpful staff, low (usually no) wait times. It's easy to reach staff directly if you have a question (versus many places have third party answering services and take you through long automated menus with long hold times). Dr. Nguyen is friendly and professional, takes time to answer questions and explain things well so you understand what's going on with your eyes. My favorite healthcare provider out of all of them -- for myself and my family. All medical appointments should be as straightforward as coming to San Marino Optometry. read more

I have never had such a comprehensive eye exam. Dr. Nguyen was thorough, kind, and honest. I recommended the practice to my entire office! I felt extremely comfortable and that the doctor answered all my questions. read more

Dr. Nguyen is friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and an all around good dude. They are super modern with lots of ways to communicate with them. They also do virtual glasses fittings to narrow down your search before coming to the shop. He and his staff are always polite and welcoming when you call or come visit in person. They have a great selection of eye wear. They take the time to answer any and all questions. Wait times are 5-10 minutes, if that. Parking is available right out front. read more

My experience with this place was exceptional ! I needed to get glasses right away as I broke mine and had to update my prescription so I booked a last minute online appointment for the next day. Mind you, they have extended hours for some days which was a super plus for me since I work M-F, no need to take off work at all. As I went in for my appointment, a lot of parking, no wait times and I was easily accommodated by Nicole to fill some paperwork. Dr. Phan attended on my needs and made sure I felt comfortable at all times. She had recommended what she thinks was best for me. I ordered my glasses and got it a week after my appointment, solved my dry eyes and the doctors constantly asked if I had concerns through text messaging! Thanks Dr. Phan and Dr. Nguyen for being so attentive to my needs ! Will definitely recommend ! read more

Jan 31 at 5:50 PM First off, I've been seeing Dr. Phan a couple times already. I was so delighted when I found out that she was opening up her own office with her husband Dr. Toan in San Marino. Their new office is beautiful and parking is great! I like how her office was simple, modern and clean. I hate how some offices are real cluttered, but her was just up to my standard. Not only was her office clean, but both Doctors have passion and knowledge for what they do. I saw Dr. Toan this time and he was just as great as Dr. Phan. He made me feel welcome and comfortable like we were old friends. He explained everything to me in detail as he was doing it and was patient with all my questions. I would highly recommend this place. Also, I like how they gave me a reminder text that my glasses are ready to be pick up and I had receive a hand written thank you card in the mail from them. That was real sweet of them read more

San Marino Optometry - Optometrists Near Me - San Marino, California

Seated comfortably in my living room during Game 3 of the 2017 World Series and I found an unusual haze marring the vision in my right eye. A Google check later and I realized I needed to get it checked ASAP. Isn't it awesome when we have trusted and amazingly caring people in our lives? Thankfully I was able to see my regular optometrist last minute. I can't tell you how blessed I've been in the two years I've been her patient. She's everything you could want in an eye doctor. She's excited and passionate about what she does. She's engaging and personable. She's extremely knowledgeable and patient. She goes over and above to give you reassurance and to improve your vision. The health care professional I am describing is Dr. Julie Phan and I would highly recommend her to anyone. Unfortunately, the Dodgers didn't fare so well that night, but because of the eye exam I received from Dr. Phan, I felt like a winner anyway. Thank you, Dr. Phan for taking care of me yet again. You're the absolute best! read more

Stopped in to ask if they could tighten my glasses and the wonderful ladies at the desk were super helpful. Then Gabriel discovered there was actually a piece missing that was preventing the frames from staying on tightly. He made an adjustment and my frames fit perfectly again. No charge. I will be back when I need new glasses. Lovely spot with easy parking, too. read more

Absolute worst glasses I ever got...and to add insult to injury was also the most expensive for a basic pair of reading glasses. Their glasses would cause horrible eye strain after a short time of using. Bought two replacement glasses from someplace else and that never had a problem. Tried to get them to resolve the issue, but after months of waiting, they never resolved it. They didn't offer me a refund either. So now I have a pair of reading glasses that I can't use that cost $270 (even with my vision insurance). read more

I have nothing bad to say about San Marino Optometry. From the initial phone call requesting an appointment, to the check in and general exam with the latest and best equipment, every part of their services had already exceeded my expectations (as I compared it with my previous optometrist). What has set a new bar for me was the experience I had with Dr. Nguyen. Absolutely knowledgeable, efficient, and compassionate - I felt he was providing a thorough, individualized approach in meeting my needs as a patient. Everything was explained in detail and he made sure I understood every part of what he was saying. I learned more about my eyes in the short time I was with him than any other visit I've had with any of my previous optometrists. Cherry on top moment for me was when he shared an insurance benefit that I never even knew I had, saving me a good chunk of money. Seriously, I've been wearing contacts for nearly 15 years and no other provider has mentioned anything like it. If you're having doubts about coming in, don't. You'll be well taken care of at San Marino Optometry. read more
