Jane (front desk) was very nice, she was able to set up an eye exam for me same day. On top of being a new customer the service was very fast and helpful. I entered the building and everything was clean and professional, Ana made the exam very comfortable and fast. They definitely know what they are doing. I forgot the name of the Dr. who finished the exam and prescribed me my contacts, but she was very knowledgeable and broke down everything perfectly. I came here for my annual contact lenses exam. During covid 19, I had a contactless temperature check. The front desk was nice and helpful, they told me to do my paperwork the night before online, so that was convenient. I didn't wait long at all, the assistant took me to get the normal eye tests, some including looking into machines. After that, Dr. Gin saw me. She was professional and kind. The entire office practices distancing, disinfecting things touched, and we all wore masks. I haven't gotten an eye exam for over two years due to very mediocre office visit with another optometrist. I know that shouldn't deter me and decided to put my vision insurance to good use. Looked up in-network doctors and made an appointment with Huntington Optometric Center since it's in the same building as my dentist. Dr. Kajikawa is the most thorough and professional optometrist I've ever seen. As a new patient, Dr. Kajikawa made me feel very comfortable and safe as he walked me through the entire assessment of my eyes and vision. He also provided a quick background overview of the optometry office to welcome me. From the 40-minute office visit, I left with an updated prescription, sample contact lenses, and confirmation that my eyes are working fine. Overall, I would highly recommend Dr. Kajikawa. Dr. Kajikawa and his team are great! Luckily, all of my prior optometrists have been good but Dr. K has been the most thorough and detailed. If you appreciate the battery of tests and personal time spent with your healthcare provider, then this is the office for you! Have been going to Dr. Kajikawa for my eye checkups, glasses, and contact lenses for the last three or so years. After going to four other optometrists over the years since I started wearing glasses in high school, Dr. Kajikawa is by far the best eye doctor of them all. 5 stars! Dr. Kajikawa is the most thorough and detailed optometrist that I've ever had! Expect a longer than usual checkup compared to other optometrists. Dr. Kajikawa takes his time to do all the check up procedures to check out your eye health. He also makes sure that you'll get the correct prescription, especially with contact lenses. In my past visits, he made me try out several different brands/pairs of contacts so that I can pinpoint the best one for my eyes. I've also gotten prescription glasses from Dr. Kajikawa, and his office carries are pretty good selection of frames to choose from. Dr. Kajikawa, along with his office staff, are very friendly and easy to talk to. They always call you to do check up and appointment reminders. As far as parking, there are a couple of reserved parking spaces for patients in the office parking lot, but if you're not lucky to get one of them, there's always free street parking on adjacent streets within a short walking distance. 22/100 for 2017 read more

A wonderful staff and a team of doctors here. Still going through some major changes that have been spoken about for many years since 2013 the office continues to serve its base clients with verve and urgency. There are wonderful technological updates and still some of the good old fashion warm and fuzzies going on here. Although the practice has been sold and passed on to a new generation I am happy to find that the important things behind customer service have not been forgotten. Updated review for new location: I was one of those kids who, despite not being able to see the board in school, refused to wear his glasses. I have my mom and dad to thank for terrible myopia with a bonus astigmatism. With a left eye that is more or less the shape of a football, and a right eye that is pancaked into a donut like shape, it's a wonder I can see it all. About 15 years ago, in search of a new eye doctor, I was referred by my district office to check out Dr. Kajikawa. I knew after my first visit that I had found my new eye doctor... Until this dude retires. He is one of the most conscientious, compassionate, and caring doctors I have ever met... Not just in the optometry field, but across the medical board. Despite really only going once or maybe twice a year for annual check ups and the occasional adjustment to glasses, etc. he always remembers my name, details about my life and family, and makes you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in until the time you leave. With the Arcadia office closed, Dr. Kajikawa now operates exclusively from the Alhambra location. About four years ago, I spoke at length with Dr. Kajikawa about getting laser eye surgery, after a couple of decades of wearing glasses. Rather than trying to talk me out of it, as if he was going to lose a patient, he carefully explained the process, walking me through each step, and even did some preparatory investigative work with my eyes, to ensure that the process would go as smoothly as possible. Turned out I had some other things going on, requiring minor surgery... This Doc has probably saved my vision more than once. Sure, I like dogs, but glad I don't need one to show me around. Any I problem I have had he is simply a phone call away, and within a day or two can always see me for an appointment. Esther, Jan, and the entire office staff are compassionate and patient. I wish I could give a five-star review because the eye exam was very thorough and professional. Dr. Ta was attentive and made me feel comfortable. However, I was very frustrated because the two-week waiting period for my prescription sunglasses turned out to be a full month and a half. No one informed me what was going on. I had to call them a few times to ask about the status of my sunglasses. Every time I called, they just kept telling me that there was a delay from the lab. When I finally collected the sunglasses, I was disappointed too because the frame was too big. read more

So I previously wrote a review and deleted it. But here's the deal: upon arrival to this recent visit, I learned that Dr. Kendrick K. is no longer there so I was "welcomed" by different faces. Under Dr. Kendrick, my waiting period was not long at all. I would pretty much be called in after checking in. With this one, the waiting period was longer than what I'm not used to. I had a 10:30 am appt and I wasn't called in until like 10:50 am. The office was empty so it didn't make sense to me having to wait that long. After the initial exams with assistant/tech, I waited another longer period for the actual Dr. to come in. The assistant Dana and the new Dr. were cool, but I still feel some type of way for having to wait. Once I proceeded to check new frames, I guess the woman that was suppose to help me out was chatting with another patient. I mean, I get it. I love to go on and on, but as professionals, I feel like the woman (staff member) had to cut it at some point to the patient. Though the waiting period for that was much shorter I did notice that Dana had to step in and assist me because the other staff member was chatting with the other patient. Dana really did stand out. She was helpful and professional. Again, Dr. was cool but Danna is the real MVP here. There's not much to say about the other staff, they were just there. I'm thinking the receptionist read the now deleted review and waived a $45 fee. I just hope that they are mindful of keeping track and or being on schedule. I scheduled an early appt to avoid traffic back home. This has been my to-go place. Again, I didn't know Dr. Kendrick wasn't here anymore. I moved to Pomona over a year ago so had to deal with a drive once I was done with this visit. If you are not local to area, it's probably not worth it anymore. read more

She was very thorough when discussing the changes in my prescription as well as explaining the results of my exam. my whole family has been seeing Dr. Kajikawa at the arcadia branch on duarte road for almost a decade, walking out with soft and rigid gas permeable contacts, glasses, bifocals, sunglasses. we're asian, so of course, we're all nearsighted and bring in a variety of vision needs. and he's really great with all of us. the arcadia office has a small waiting room stocked with magazines and a few toys for little kids. it's very clean and simple. i've never had to wait in there very long anyway. his secretaries are friendly and very informative. and they call to remind you of your appointment and are prompt with returning calls. i've had many pleasing and unrushed appointments with the doctor. he remembers his clients, answers all my questions, and even takes my last minute requests for appointments (i.e., calling in the morning for a same-day) which is awesome for emergencies. he's flexible with a multitude of vision plans and even offers discount if you don't have insurance. we've even had conversations about my post-college professional plans and i've received plenty of information about optometry school and his personal experiences in opt school. the part that makes him great is that he's knowledgeable (in his optometry school days, they learned to make hard contacts by hand, and he well understands how important exact details are. he's also beveled/smoothed out the edges of my contacts and made them smaller to better fit my eye, right in the office!!). additionally, he's patient and persistent. i'm very anal retentive about the crispness of my vision, noticing very slight deviations from lens to lens. and he's put up with this by ordering gas permeable lens after gas permeable lens until i'm completely satisfied. without complaint! and no complaints when i notice a small change and want to see him right away to get the lens switched. the cherry on top is that he gives me tons of sample solutions for my gas perms and washes the protein residue off of them when i come in to see him. and he's totally okay with me getting my super thin glasses made in taiwan; he'll adjust the fit and replace lost screws when i bring these pairs in! :) read more

Dr. Kajikawa is one of the most dedicated doctors I've ever seen. He puts the patient above all and will always go the extra mile for your convenience. After visiting his office, meeting his lovely staff, and getting an eye exam, I noticed he treats everybody like they are his family. Every patient that comes in is greeted like they are long time friends. The doctor gives a very thorough exam and has over a decade of experience to prescribe glasses, contacts, or referrals for anybody's needs. On top of quality materials and a huge selection, they cater to my convenience. If I am running late from Irvine, the doctor will stay late to see me after hours and help me himself so that his employees may return home on time. Any difficulties I have with my glasses are all taken care of because everything is on file and he always finds way to best save me money such as drilling nose pads on my plastic frames so I can wear them with my Asian nose bridge. He always tries to accommodate my every need and although I feel special, I see him extend the same courtesies to new patients and anyone that walks through his door. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Kajikawa for 10 years or so and got my husband going to his office as well. His office is friendly, very helpful with my insurance plan information, and my appointments are on time. What I really appreciate about Dr. K is that he's thorough and teaches me about my eyes and sight correction. He explained to me that with a prescription there's comfort and correction and those two don't always work out well, which is exactly my case! When my sight is corrected to the highest degree I find my glasses to be super uncomfortable for wearing for long periods of time. Also, at high correction, everything is smaller, which is also irritating to me. So he helped me figure out what would work the best for me. Dr. Kajikawa has been the absolutely phenomenal in the past 7 years that I've been seeing him. After having trouble finding a knowledgeable and affordable Optometrist, a friend referred me to him, and has not been elsewhere since. Doctor Kajikawa always gets my prescription right on, and does an excellent job of clearing answering any questions I have. Spending 45 min to an hour per appointment, the doctor ensures that I know more about my vision than I could possibly have ever expecting. Not only that, but the doctor genuinely cares about his patients. He also checks up on me, my work, and the friends that I have referred to his practice. As for constant care, Doctor Kajikawa is also flexible with his schedule and in a pinch will fit me in if needed. When I was having vision problems after getting accidentally hit in the eye, the doctor rushed me into his office the next day, and quickly solved the visions problems I was encountering. If you are like me when I look for a doctor, I check for three main things: price, consistency and quality. Dr. Kajikawa was definitely one of the cheaper more affordable Optometrists that I found while I was previously searching for an eye doctor. Also, the quality and consistency of the doctor is definitely unmatched. One last note is that Doctor Kajikawa has two offices. Since I live closer to Alhambra, I usually go to that office. But a couple times I have been to his Arcadia office, which was definitely really nice and easily accessible. Dr. Kajikawa spent a good amount of time talking to me about my eye history and going through the exam. He found that my previous prescription was incorrect and causing a lot of eye strain. He's thorough, friendly, and really seems to know his stuff. I picked up my glasses today, and the difference is amazing. I have been going to a large Optometry Group for the last three years. I was examined by a different optometrist every year. Last year I was scheduled to be examined by one of the owner. At the last minute I was assigned to a different optometrist without notice. The optometrist was friendly and the exam was brief. I returned a couple of weeks later to pickup my glasses. The glasses were out of focus. The group corrected the prescription error. I decided to try a different optometrist this year. I found Kendric Kajikawa, O.D. listing in Yelp in the City of Alhambra. I was able to schedule an appointment the same day due to a cancellation. The optometrist reviewed all my old prescriptions and compared the last prescription to the glasses I was wearing. He found an refraction error in one of the lens in one of the pair of glasses. He performed a through examination taking time to explain his findings during the examination. read more

He is completely dedicated to his profession and to his patients. As my eyes have aged he has correctly diagnosed several problems and referred me to excellent specialists. Recently I injured my eye. He stayed late while I rushed in and he intervened on my behalf with a highly regarded retinologist who, because of his good relationship with Dr.K., also stayed late and treated my injury.
