Our first Italian restaurant in Milan where my wife and I stopped in for some lunch...while the rest of our group was recovering from the long flight. Obica is located on the rooftop in a food hall that offers many dining and snacking options. Below are seven floors of the Rinasente (shopping mall). It took awhile to get up there because, well, someone had to do some shopping and browsing. The restaurant overlooks the Duomo Milano, which is spectacular. The service was a bit slow but, the pizza and ricotta cheese we ordered was flat out delicious!!! Our first dining experience in Italy did not disappoint!!!! As our trip went on I noticed service is slower here in Italy for a reason. Italians sit and enjoy their meals and take their time. No rushing here and no pesty servers constantly stopping by. The view with the duomo and city alone makes the visit here worthwhile. It was a bit difficult finding the place, as you have to find the entryway to the "food court" on the side of a building, go up an elevator, then walk thru a shopping spot with other restaurants to find it. It seems to be quite a popular place because of the beautiful outdoor views, so I'd highly recommend reservations or going on off-hours like we did. We were able to walk outside and grab an open table for dinner around 5:00. The food was good. I REALLY enjoyed the tortellinis I ordered - incredibly fresh tasting & not super heavy. The waiting service there was friendly, but we had to get someone's attention almost every time we needed something. I never got used to the amount of smokers in Italy - I wish they had nonsmoking areas to enjoy the outside without the horrible cigarette smell. read more

I wanted to have sundowners on a rooftop by the Duomo since we didn't have time for a tour, so I made reservations in advance for a table outside. It took us a bit to find it; google maps led us to a red door across from the movie theater that took us directly up to the 7th floor to the food court area. We made it to the host stand and were seated on the very crowded patio. We had a table for two, inches away from our neighboring diners. If you are sensitive to smells that emanate from others (smoke, etc), you probably don't want to dine here. Luckily I'm not bothered by body odor and no one in our immediate vicinity was smoking but others were; enough for me to think to note it for my fellow Yelpers. There were other restaurants in the food court that offered the same views and looked to have spread out seating options. We waited a bit for drinks, food, and our bill. I blame it on sundown on a summery Saturday as service was pleasant. We had Lambrusco and got a small meat and cheese board and a daily special of bruschetta with mozzarella cheese. Everything was good enough but not the best I had in Italy, but when combined with the view it afforded, it was pretty great. If we ever come back to Milano, I will probably try another spot for rooftop sundowners across from the Duomo, but if you have patience, like to sit super duper close to others, and enjoy great views of the Duomo, this is a great spot! read more

Dress the part when you eat here! This is prime people watching city and you will be ignored if you're dressed like a sloppy tourist. Hope that's not me! =P Obika gives you a spectacular view of the top of the Duomo. The spacious outdoor area is just teeming with people! (and it was the odd hour of 2pm?!) The food and drinks here will cost you. A Spritz is €12 and glass of Pinot Grigio is €6. (swear, we paid half that price in Venice!) Pizzas are anywhere between €12 - €16, I thought I was back in San Francisco, the way they were charging these prices! We got an oval shaped, thin crust pizza with salami and mozzarella. The PETRA flour they used from Molina Quaglia is left to rise for 48 hours which results in a light tasting, slightly charred crust. Admittedly, it's hard to get bad pizza in Italy. (if you do your research!) Overall, a really overpriced restaurant at the top floor of a mall. Stop by if you don't mind spending money on ok food .... I guess the eye candy is worth it? read more

Love coming to the top of the Rhinascente for the view of the Duomo, which is the only reason I would ever come back to this location of Obikà-- the view. The food was good but not memorable. We ordered an appetizer that was like 3 pieces of bruschetta with 3 different spreads. Good, but not amazing. My Schiaffoni di Gragnano pasta was pretty tasty. Don't let the portion fool you, it may seem like a little but I felt extremely satisfied after. I've never had pasta in that shape (looked like a gigantic rigantoni) so it was pretty interesting to eat. The spicy salami pizza was also good, if you like spicy salami. Highly recommend coming here in the warmer seasons because they have seating outside on the patio, where the view is beautiful. They have heat lamps outside in the fall but I guess it's not enough for the cold winter seasons! read more

This location is on top of the la Rinascente department store, to the left of the Duomo. For those in NYC, it's a little like the food hall at the Plaza Hotel (just the italian version of it), or a little like Eataly at the Flatiron.... but with much better views! The Mozzarella bar has a bar area, and a lot of tables. We chose the bar area to sit at, so we could people watch, and also watch the staff cook/prepare the food. Place is clean, everything looked fresh. they have a great menu, with a lot of options. Having made dinner plans only a few hours after coming here.. we decided to share a pizza (the basic mozzarella). Pizza was a nice thin crust, great flavor, and the sauce and cheese was just amazing! Definitely one of the best pizza's i've ever had... and that's saying a lot. We also ordered some wine, which went well with the food. Service was friendly, and we had a great meal... so much more on the menu that i want to try... hope we make it back to Milan again soon. read more

Obica Mozzarella Bar is perfect for a drink while watching the sunset and getting some light appetizers, or for a weekend brunch. The mozzarella tasting platter is a must. The stracciatella mozzarella takes mozzarella to a whole different level. The view of Obica is unreal. It is on top of the rinascente shopping mall and right next to Duomo. If your a tourist and considering going to the top of Duomo, skip it and have a more enjoyable experience by coming to Obica. I lived in Milano for 6 months and whenever I had friends/family visiting I would take them here, as it has amazing Mozzarella and a great atmosphere. In response to some people who gave Obica 3 stars, one person wrote that they got pizza and they thought the restaurant would do more to showcase the pizza. Anyone who knows a bit about mozzarella knows that fresh, uncooked mozzarella is the best way to taste it if you want it to be very flavorable. People who didn't love this place, didn't order Mozzarella, which is always a good idea at a Mozzarella bar! Another reviewer commented that the burratta mozzarella was delicious but too expensive. The service was frosty at best. It seemed everyone who worked there was in a bad mood. We had great service throughout our Milan stay but service on this fateful Sunday was not ideal. For the first time i'm writing a bad review, which i really would not like to do. Eating out is an experience but today with all the best intentions to round up the day, the delivery was really disappointing. First we arrived nobody was interested to welcome us. We waited for the menus and a waiter to come by our table for more than 15 minutes, when the terrace was half empty. Before we ordered i was asking for the waiter to come by at least 3 times. At that point we wanted already to leave. But a nice lady whit pink lipstick came and said how are we doing. I have explained and she followed up our order. The unorganized staff kept talking to each other and ignoring the guests that came after us. I probably got know more about their life than what was on the menu. I would like to recommend the venue for food and nice service, but i just CANNOT as keeping the restaurant simple and friendly does not ask a huge effort. Please get a manager that knows how to organize the service in order not to loose more guests, as i will probably never return again. The view and the packed outdoor seating area attracted us at first. The ambience was inviting and the outdoor area was clean. However there's an air of racism towards Asian tourists by the wait staff and the hostess. We waited fifteen minutes and no waiter appeared even after flagging down the waiter, and the hostess. We stood up to leave and when confronted with our issues she rolled her eyes and said a half apologetic "sorry." This place was so bad it prompted me to download this app and write a review. In a certain way, thank you, Obicà. The staff was rude and our waiter was inattentive, having to ask multiple times to order, for our drinks, for our check. Starters were good but the first dishes were awful. My chicken breast, along with the veggies, was served cold and super dry. Olive oil and seasonings were of little help, unfortunately. The pappardelle pasta was "scotta" and it looked like both dishes were sitting out waiting to be picked up for far too long... One star might be considered harsh, but given the price of the establishment, it deserves it. read more

Funny thing is that I have never tried the Obika's in the states and would never think to step foot in there. However, in Milan it's a different story. Obika is reliable, you always know what to expect here. Fresh mozzarella, good pastas, decent service, fresh salad. So there you go, when in doubt and you see an Obika in Italy - you can't go wrong. Great fresh tasting pizzas, which would be my first choice. 2nd choice, I'd go for a pasta or a mixture of the appetizers and dips. I like this one in Brera, but there is also one on top of Rinascente which is pretty consistent franchise quality. Happy eating! read more

The service was very slow the food was also not good. My pizza had the toppings falling off every time I tried to eat it. My son got the chicken breast and some potatoes and he said the chicken was not tender but the potatoes were good but it could've been better with ketchup but they did not even have that. overall we couldn't finish half our food and the food was overpriced we will not be coming back. I have got to be a bit hard on these guys. If anything, because the price point is fairly high for the type of experience you can expect. The food is good and of great scene, but only if you are a tourist and not accustomed to real Italian cuisine. Compared to even just a year ago, the flavor seemed bland and the once very tasteful Mozzarella di Bufala, now feels more like any other commercial brand you can by at the corner shop. The odd smile you get by the waiter/ress doesn't make up for the lack of it at broad level. Most of the staff seemed to be bored and actually a bit tired of having to serve you and seemed not interested in creating an enjoyable atmosphere for you...the paying customer. So not 5 stars because service quality is not essential but you have got to have it to create a good experience. Not 4 stars because is jammed packed, tables are small and you end up sitting elbow on elbow with the table next to you. Not 3 stars because, for the price paid, I would have expected more taste complexity and a less of a touristy choice. Not 1 star because of the location and because I am still a loyal customer that will go back there again to check on improvement. read more
