In Davenport for large planned event, forced us to the outskirts for a quieter place to eat. Sancho's restaurant, in business for 50 years, seemed like a good place for some Mexican food. We were pleasantly greeted and quickly seated in this very casual and sparsely decorated restaurant. Our server was pleasant and was quick to bring us chips salsa, and our beverages. We were able to get our lunch for a reasonable price. However, it's probably not the best Mexican food we've had. Queso sauce tasted more like melted Velveeta, guacamole was fresh, but bland. Chicken enchiladas were presented very nicely, however again tend to lack seasoning. The cheese enchiladas were indeed very cheesy, but that's probably about all we could say. My recommendation is to try to find something else in the area. This place works if you're hungry and you're just looking for substance. read more

Truly this is the worst Mexican food that I have ever loved. Nothing here makes sense. You will hate it...but somehow love it. The crispy tacos are atrocious yet delicious. The meat is like a beef paste and somehow transforms into a beautiful cacophony of flavors and textures when added to the fresh veggies and crispy shell. Why..why...is this delicious? So to start off I would like to say the server who served us was amazing sweet and attentive. However there was a misunderstanding when asking about queso dip being white or yellow. Me my mom and daughter went after having not gone fore years. Me and my mom ordered chili burrito my daughter got tacos with rice. Me and my moms burritos where great as they have always been. My daughter's tacos not so much the meat was very weird and her rice was underdone and extremely salty. I ordered I chili burrito and queso to go. I get home and get my fiancé a food so I can reheat it. Well that's when the issues came up. They stuffed this big gigantic burrito into a tiny round metal pan the ones with the paper lid. it was so small in fact they had to cut the burrito in half and then stuff it into the container no room for any cheese or chili on top of this burrito so when I took my burrito out, there was virtually no chili or cheese left on top. what is on the burrito in the picture is what I scraped from the sides of the pan so I was a little annoyed because I paid $27.80 For this burrito and queso. I was told that the queso was made with white cheese it was a bright yellow, very canned queso very nasty as well. So at this point, I'm annoyed and I very politely tell him what happened and asked what were they willing to do because I was willing to bring it back up and get a refund. The whole point of ordering this chili burrito is to get the chili and cheese on top. There was virtually none. The manager then he proceeded to call me a liar and tell me that's just how the chili burritos come. I let home know we had just had one and it was smothered in chili and cheese. He was extremely rude not accommodating whatsoever and did nothing to rectify this problem. Well besides, call me a liar. I will not be going back. 10/10 would NOT recommend read more

My favorite sandwich was always the taco burger absolutely delish ! Wrapped up in aluminum foil that kept the food warm and the bun soft and warm-But just ordered one and was so disappointed they took the recycled tin foil to a plastic container my sandwich was cold the bun different and the meat tasted like they changed the recipe I do not like making negative reviews Please go back to original way - it's what has kept you in business for years- if it ain't broke n don't fix it read more

Three and half stars? Y'all need to stop hatin for no reason! The burrito is big and awarding especially with the salsa! If I could give one star I would. Waited about 30-50 min on our food. After we watched friends of the wait staff take care of friends or family that came in after us. They got their food and we didn't. No refills in that whole time while we watched them get any and everything they asked for. When questioned we were told it's coming. Talked to the person behind the bar and met with well it's not my problem and we were busy EARLIER so that's the reason. Joke of a place and service. No offense but I think the people reviewing this place poorly might be on crack? (Just kidding that's totally offensive) Sanchos is incredible. I ate here for the first time this weekend while visiting my family - I live in Atlanta now but grew up here and had never eaten here. I recommend the ground beef - its almost in sort of a gravy. A very sexual gravy. I don't know how they do it. There is so much flavor! I ordered the Sancho which is a burrito with the ground beef, lettuce and melted cheese. Highly recommend. I also had a hard shell taco - amazing. And the margarita was also really good. They were even nice to me when I totally micromanaged the bartender and asked for modifications (like a psycho!) - and it turned out great. Chips and salsa are a 10/10. I didn't have the enchilada, which appears to have a lot of haters, so I can't speak for the that. Now I'm going home to attempt to replicate that beef. read more

Absolutely love the corn tacos. Have been eating at sanchos for over 25yrs. Wish the place was a little cleaner and service was a little better. Sanchos is hidden behind the bike shop so easier taking the back way in. I would highly recommend as the taco meat is definitely addicting. read more

Well, the one star is for the fact that they had food. The Quad Cities has several fantabulous Mexican restaurants...Sanchos, not so much. My chicken was pink....EEEK! Then, I ordered a beef burrito for a replacement and it was somewhat like canned gravy in a tortilla. For Americanized Mexican food, I would give Rudy's a try maybe. An order of Sancho's tacos would be my death row last meal. They are by far the best tasting tacos i have ever had. The flavor of the meat is unbelievable, the shells always fresh and they are super generous with the cheese. I live across the river, but gladly make the trip every few weeks to get my fix. This is a little place right off Brady Street that you would miss if you did not know about it. I have been coming here since I was a kid. It used to be called Pepe's a long time ago. This is the best Americanized Mexican food that I have ever had. The flavor of the beef and beans is incredible! It is by no means an upscale place, but it does the job. They staff is always friendly and the food is consistent. If your looking for authentic Mexican go to Azteca or Habenero's, but for something different try the Sancho or my fave, the beef and bean burrito!! read more

I do love the tacos. I think the beef has the best flavor around. They just built an addition to the building and remodeled. Be sure if you pay by credit card that you CLEARLY mark the tip on the ticket, I had a waitress write in a large tip on a credit card slip. I called and talked to the owner. I don't think he believed me but when he showed me his original ticket it was clear. The waitress is still working there but we still go in there for the food. I won't hold is against this place for the actions of one stupid waitress. I now only pay cash. read more

This mexican restaurant serves a little different style of cusine which is what makes it so great. We eat there for lunch on an average of once a week. The have great free chips and salsa & lunch specials for under $7 with a refillable soda. Quite a bargain in today's world. Staff is friendly and the service is fast. I've been going there since I was a little kid. I once ordered a Sancho, which was good, but I always get the hard shells. They're fantastic. The meat is finely ground and has such a unique flavor. The tomato paste instead of tomatoes also adds something unique. It's greasy, but oh so good. read more

It is americanized mexican but if you're not looking for goat cheese on your food then you should love it. I have eaten here a couple of times when meeting up with friends. It is not authentic Mexican food by any means. They slather the enchiladas with this strange sauce (not enchilada sauce), it tastes funny, and not in a good way. Nice patio to sit outside when the weather is nice. I give Sancho's a 0 star rating. Our place of buisness ordered lunch. I wanted 4 tamales and a order of beans and rice. I got 4 tostados and an order of beans and rice for $14.30. All together the size of my meal is the size of a small dinner plate. FOR $14.30 GIVE ME A BREAK! I left work and took the meal back to Sancho's because I knew there was a mistake. NO MISTAKE! I told them I thought is was an excessive charge for what I had recieved. I told them for $14.30 I should had at least gotten some chips. They told me to HAVE A GREAT DAY! The foods not even good!
