I debated writing this review for a while, but I think it is worth doing. I have NEVER written a bad review in my life, but this salon has the most confusing, least transparent, and most hypocritical pricing system. Let me start by saying the stylists themselves are lovely. This isn't about them. They were kind, professional, and genuinely talented. My issue is 100% with the management and policies that clearly care more about money and marketing buzzwords than about actual customer experience. I booked my appointment with my mom. She picked a "higher-ranking" stylist, so we expected her haircut to cost a bit more--around $30 extra. That made sense. The salon already lists all prices in ranges, which is fine (it's standard since hair length can vary), but their "starting" prices are already high. Whatever, I'm happy to pay people fairly for their time and skill. Then I get there and find out about their "SalonScale" policy, which means you're charged extra for the hair color product itself, weighed by the gram. My stylist told me it would be about $50 more. Annoying, but I was flying out of the country in a few days, so I just went along with it. By the time I was done, my haircut and color were over $400. For a single appointment. Meanwhile, my mom (whose stylist was higher ranked) wasn't even told about this SalonScale charge, and her total ended up less than mine. Our hair is the same length. So explain to me how that makes sense. If the haircut and color are already that expensive... what the hell am I paying for if not the product? , After getting home, I checked on their website to see their SalonScale policies. This is what pissed me off the most, and where it becomes hypocritical. They actually try to justify this extra charge as being for environmental sustainability. Here's what their website says: "We believe in transparency and efficiency, which is why we use SalonScale for our color services. We weigh out our color by the gram with every client to ensure perfect results every time. By weighing out color, we also eliminate waste, keeping in line with our mission to be more sustainable and leave less of an impact on the environment. With SalonScale, we separate the cost of color from the service price using a parts and labor model. This way, you know exactly what you are paying for." Sorry, but you do not believe in transparency. Nothing about this was transparent. I'm not standing back there watching you weigh color by the gram--you could tell me anything, and I'd have no clue. And "charging more money to save the planet"? Give me a break. You don't need to bill your customers an extra $50+ to be sustainable. Just use what you need and don't waste product. Stop using climate change as a marketing prop to justify upselling people. The haircut itself wasn't even what I asked for, but I take some blame for not speaking up right away. I left my hair curly, so I didn't realize how different it was from what I asked for until later. I came back the next day for a touch-up--they said they had a "no charge" policy for that, which I thought was great considering the expensive nature of my haircut. But after the touch-up, my stylist offered to "style" my hair. She phrased it like a nice gesture, a little favor. Then boom--it showed up on the bill as a $50 charge. That's not a favor. That's shady. You need to be upfront with customers about how much things cost BEFORE doing them. I checked online, asked in person, and asked again when I arrived for my touch-up appointment to clarify that there would be no extra charges. , Oh, and the final insult: they charge tax on the tip, which you have to pay. Normally, I wouldn't care, but by that point, it just felt like one last way to squeeze a few more dollars out of me. The sad part is that this could easily be a great salon. The stylists are good at what they do. But the way this business runs? It's manipulative, confusing, and anything but transparent. If you go, just know you might walk out paying $150+ more than what you planned (and with the feeling you've been taken advantage of under the guise of "sustainability"). read more

Avoid this place at all cost , took my daughter there for a hair coloring appointment. Walked away with no color change at 400+ dollars, just get story that we told you we couldn't get ito that color without multiple treatments. Well you would expect some change as promised but we got nothing. So do yourself a favor and go else where and not spend a dime at this place. read more

I visited this salon recently (after relocating from scottsdale) and was happy with the cut and color, i really liked the vibe in there. Plants everywhere. I recommended my sister come in for cut and color and her first visit was good as well. Yesterday was her second visit ... not only was she left waiting 45 minutes after arriving for her appointment (she is ALWAYS early), her color came out pink and bleached blonde instead of the Carmel and Auburn she requested (her hair is naturally kind of auburn). She was there over four hours and left with her hair sopping wet, because she had to get to a meeting and they were not done yet. NOT AT ALL the experience she paid for. She has called twice this morning to get someone to fix the mess, and so far ... um, yeah, nothing. So she will have to drive over there, because, well, work Monday. After recommending this place to several of my new friends in NC, I am going to have to change that to PASS ON THIS PLACE, IT IS over priced and you certainly don't get what you pay for. I mean a sign saying you're client of the day isn't what you need when you come out with fuchsia hair. EDITED: she spoke with someone finally Friday evening, that told her after speaking to management, the same person would need to FIX THE HAIR THAT apparently couldn't keep track of time and fried her hair in the first place. As of Sunday chunks of her hair were falling out, and her hair looks so so sad. They are closed Monday. I called today (since i am out of town i couldn't go in person) the person who called me back (they have a text system so no one actually answers the phone when you call) was pleasant at first but then just kind of gave me the brush off. I cancelled my upcoming appointment, and I hope, with fingers crossed they are able to do something for my sister's overprocessed, hair. Not the salon we were looking for, and certainly not the experience she paid for. A for effort.,. I was trying Salons to find a new stylist to do my hair , highlight, lowlights for depth, still blonde. My hair has been mostly blonde since the late 80's. I WAS there over 4 hours and my hair wasn't worse than when I went in, but not light enough. I do not like cutting dry hair. I know it is cut more precise wet. It has been done like that for my whole lifetime. . Haircut wasn't an attribute, making it easier to style or just fall in place, like some I have had. The stylist asked what I wanted. I explained color, cut , fine hair, lot of hair but very fine. I went home took the scissors to trim " odd pieces each time I Shapiro it, and used purple shampoo to lighten it. read more

My hair HAS NEVER LOOKED BETTER! Lili just recently got out of cosmetology school and I opted to let her do my hair, and let me tell you it looks like she's been doing hair for years! I got a full foil and cut just about 3 weeks ago which I was so freaking happy with and then yesterday came back in and got partial volume hand tied extensions. My extensions look so good and completely transformed my hair. All the of the work Lili did was so amazing!!! Y'all need to come here and get your extensions done I am so OBSESSED!!! read more

I went to Sanctuary for the first time for a partial highlight with Cindy and said I wanted the same as what highlights I had but brighter. As she blew out my hair, it was bright brass right on the front of my head and a few pieces throughout. She assured me it was fixable. She then rehighlighted and retoned with the same brassy result. At that point I had to get home after being there for 4 hours and scheduled the fix for a few days later to give my hair a break. Three hours later after rehighlighting and retoning again, it ended up being slightly less brass but still highly visible. She then suggested lowlights but I was done at this point, having no confidence in the outcome. Beyond the brassiness, the color does not blend well. There are two thick streaks of blonde/orange in the front and scattered chunks throughout, which does not look flattering. Pictures below. I also got my haircut with Cindy and only the back was trimmed, the whole front of the head wasn't touched or even dusted. read more

I can't say enough about this salon and caring staff. I saw April for my hair (she's super talented and really nice)- and she suggested I purchase a flat iron --which I ordered later online. Long story short, I ran into issues at home (a power surge?) and inadvertently fried a section of my hair!! I went back to the salon for help (without an appointment- I was that desperate)- and everyone was sooo helpful and understanding. They fit me in for an "emergency" protein treatment, which did wonders... and I left with heat protection product and healing shampoo. I'm so grateful that I found this salon. Thank you!! read more

I am so happy I found a salon I love. Philicia took my thin, post pregnancy mop, and turned it into the best haircut I have ever received. She also gave me highlights that kept my hair looking natural and beautiful. Philicia listened and delivered. On another note: The salon staff was friendly and worked as a team. What a nightmare! I've been there 3 times. The first visit went well. The 2nd time the color was brassy & orange. I went back and Tiffany used a toner on my hair. That worked. My last visit was a total disaster. I saw Sarah, Tiffany had the flu. Sarah is a Master Stylist, REALLY? My hair has been chopped up like chopped liver. I had asked her if anyone styled short hair since all the pictures posted were of long hair. Her response was that when she cut long hair but if she had difficulty with short hair she'd go get help! HELP! HELP! HELP! The color is wrong the cut is horrendous. Granted they offered to fix it at no cost to me. Nice gesture, but how do you glue my hair back on where she razor cut it off? Update: so owner replied to this review and clearly says I was supposed to receive services that I never got (the conditioning treatment and scalp massage) . Confused because if the Groupon online was wrong, wouldn't they still be doing the correct services in the salon if that's what they intended the Groupon to say? Again smh Selling a groupon for $39 for cut and style when the actual price is only $43 at the salon not the advertised $65. Smh. Thankfully I bought mine on Groupon when it was being discounted plus a random $10 coupon Groupon sent to me I got mine for around $24. But really no deal to be had buying a Groupon. After some conversation about what it was that I was looking to do with my hair they recommended Danielle to me. They spoke very highly of her knowledge and talent as a stylist. I am very particular when it comes to my hair and need to feel that whomever it is that I go to understands how to work with natural curls and color.
