Went to visit family at WSU and they took us here for dinner one night. It was a great meal! Save…read moreroom for dessert, but more about that later. Started with the baked brie appetizer, which was lovely. I ordered the pork chop, which was massive, cooked perfectly (medium as it's ok to have a little pink in porkchops now) and accompaniments were flavorful. Both ordered pastas and it looked so tempting and delicious. Service is friendly. We couldnt decide on dessert so ordered the ice cream cake and apple cake/pie dessert and split. The ice cream cake is one of the best I've had. Layer of mint chocolate chip and chocolate chip, surrounded by a chocolate cookie crumble and cookie sprinkles on top. SO, SO, SO Good. The apple dessert was equally delicious and gave off Xmas / Holiday vibes. They do have espresso, though it seemed like it's not used much as the person had to check if we could order decaf cappuccinos. Those were alright and in the future, I may go without coffee or a decaf black instead. No tipping, which is the first time I've been a restaurant with this policy. It was pleasantly surprising and nice (on the bank account!)

I call it The Bear bc it's truly that spectacular imo. It makes me sad people don't experience it or give it the love it deserves bc of other mid places tend to get the spotlight. I'm from Olympia/Seattle WA area, so I know my food. Lodgepole is grossly underrated. The Gnocchi, bacon, ice cream from Ferdinands, and the rigatoni are the best foods I've ever had. The oysters are from where I grew up, so they always make me happy and are incredibly fresh. I will never stop raving.

We usually go to the restaurant but we've also bowled here before…read more The bowling alley experiences were mostly good but the music was too loud sometimes. The bowling nights were supposed to be social events but it was at times very difficult to hear the people we were trying to chat with (and I'm pretty sure my watch gave me at least one "it's too loud and that's bad for your ears" warning). I'd enjoy that volume way more if we were there to dance. I'm more comfortable in the restaurant so it's on our list of options when planning to go out for breakfast or dinner. They usually have some good beer options (menu available on untappd) and I've enjoyed their cocktails and mocktails. They do a good job with Bloody Mary garnishes. The downsides: - Take-out sometimes takes a super long time (even if you order online well in advance). - They recently took steak off their menu. We were bummed because it's one of the easiest things to get for my husband (food allergies) and on our most recent visit the whole reason we came was because a friend wanted steak (and eggs). - When you order fish & chips they normally ask which side you'd like and I usually pick coleslaw. This means I'm expecting fish & chips with coleslaw. What they deliver instead is fish & coleslaw. Sometimes I'm glad for the lighter meal but sometimes I really am craving some fries so it's annoying. I think I tried to talk to a waitress about it once but the conversation didn't go anywhere. I don't know if I'll order it a third time but I might be tempted to just because I'm curious to see what will arrive next time I ask for "fish & chips with coleslaw." We haven't explored their arcade yet. They used to also have a casino/card room but it closed in about 2025.

The cheapest place to get cans of Cougar Cheese…read more Their hours are limited but we sometimes manage to stop by. Sometimes I get ice cream but usually I'm there to get a small bag of Cougar Cheese or cans of it to give to friends/family we plan to visit. They're $30 per can there (last I checked) and normally $40+ anywhere else (even in Pullman). I often feel like I'm remembering the price incorrectly so I try to pay check on it (both at Ferdinand's and at random stores). I think I saw cans "on sale" for about $50 at a grocery store in Redmond, WA once. They also ship the cheese cans during the colder months but online they're currently $33 (per 30 oz can) + shipping. Tip: WSU's Sensory Science Center is super close by and often needs panelists for food and beverage (including alcohol) studies. They usually thank participants with Ferdinand's gift cards (usually $5-10 but sometimes more) so most of our visits are immediately after participating in a study. They don't have panelist studies every day/week so it's best to get on their email list.

I'm not normally here at nights, but I think they're open until 5 Tuesday and Wednesday and then 9 the rest of the days. There are so many good things to say about this place, I'll try to keep it short (no promises): Having been coming here daily for a year, I've had the pleasure of watching the place and the staff grow. They had a couple of things going on when I first started coming here, but they've really branched out. Trivia on Fridays, WSU football games are live streamed. Open mic on Saturday nights, there's usually live music on Saturday mornings. Bingo on Thursdays just started. The owner supports local everything, including artists, authors, and musicians. There's a whole shelf full of board games and crafting supplies as soon as you walk through the door, so there have been multiple times I've been here with my kids playing board games and I've seen others do the same. The best part: Pet friendly. Beyond pet friendly. They sell puppy birthday cakes, kongs, pup cups, and quite few other dog related treats. There are multiple dogs that just hang out in the front with their owners, but there is a nice area in the back complete with booths and a barrier to allow friendly dogs to be off leash. Coffee and human food are amazing. Staff is lovely, supportive, and just overall amazing. This will forever be my home coffee shop as long as I'm in Pullman.
