She offered me several options to make sure my skin wouldn't react to the treatment process and communicated with me to make sure I was physically comfortable the entire time. Unwanted body hair would have been better than my waxing experience this evening. It took 2+ hours and the hair wasn't adequately removed from my legs, underarms or bikini line. Nothing soothing was put on my body and the wax was so stuck to my skin the aesthetician could not remove it despite her best efforts. To make things right i was given a discount, yet I still was billed $62 on a bad wax job. My waxer never once told me "there is a problem with the wax" or "sorry this is taking way longer than i expected". I should have known something was wrong when she was using hard and soft wax simultaneously on my skin but I stupidly never questioned her. I thought she knew what she was doing! I have to go someplace else for a clean up tomorrow to fix this half-ass job so clearly I'm very disappointed. Long story short, I would never recommend this "spa" and I would never go back! read more

the woman (i think her name was heather?) who did my eye lash extensions was really nice but I feel like she may have not been as experienced as she should've been. I got these for vacation, came on december 18th and by the 23rd I only had the edges of my extensions left on instead of the two weeks I was told. major fallout happened which was so sad because i paid a good amount for them. I couldn't even come in to get them fixed since most of them fell out while I was on vacation. other services here may be good but my demi lash extensions were not. so disappointing :( I always hear of people ripping out their extensions when they don't like them but I didnt even need to do that since they fell out so easily will be calling tomorrow to see if there's anything that can be done but I doubt it. the two stars are there instead of one because the girl was nice and so was the place read more

Wow-- this is a hidden gem! Nestled next to China Royal and a paint store, this spa delivers the goods in a comfortable, relaxing atmosphere. After you're in the door, you forget you're in a strip mall. When you walk in, you are warmly greeted by their receptionist/scheduler, and you're offered some coffee. She escorts you a comfy lounge with a fireplace, magazines, couches, etc.. As you get settled, she brings in your coffee, prepped to your liking. 10 points right there. :-) Your aesthetician meets you and brings you back to your treatment room. The treatment rooms are immaculate. My treatment room was a dedicated wax room (from what I could tell), so it had a slightly clinical feel to it. This is fine with me; I want my chick to be able to see what she's doing; brazilian bikini waxes are not the time for mood lighting and Enya. The Sanctuary has two waxers on staff; Michelle was the gal worked on me, and she was great. She has the perfect gift for gab so you're gladly chatting away while she's slathering your nether-regions with blue wax. Speaking of blue wax: This salon uses Cirepil as their wax, which is AWESOME. It doesn't require strips of fabric-- it just goes on with a spatula and is given a minute to cool off. Cirepil only adheres to hair (not skin), so you won't be finding bits of mystery wax in your girl-bits for two days afterwards. Cirepil doesn't hurt nearly as much as other kinds of wax because it's not ripping off a layer of skin along with the hair. SRSLY. Accept no substitutes. Listen to your good ol' pal Jill. Other good stuff to know: [] ATTENTION MEN! The other waxer-gal (not Michelle) specializes in men's brazilian waxes. So if you've always wanted that magically slick back, sack and crack, you know where to go. I hear she has a very devoted following. [Update: My beau went to her for his very first back waxing. He's officially a convert.] [] I usually avoid spas that also offer nail services because you can smell the nail stuff while you're trying to enjoy the scented oils of your massage. These folks figured it out, though: The nail salon is up front by the receptionist, so the acrylic nail smells (which were barely noticeable) stay very far away from the very-separate treatment rooms. My only complaint (which is why I took off a star, perhaps unfairly) is that my wax girl had me drop trou while she was standing there. Yes yes, I understand she's about to have extreeeeeme full contact with my personal smushie equipment, but one last moment of sanctity would have been spiffy. But really, I'm over it already, and I will totally be back. I can't wait to try their massages and facials-- they seem very reasonably priced, and the atmosphere is ideal. I have to agree with Jill when she says it's a hidden gem. You hardly notice the place and the outside doesn't do the inside justice. I got a prompt appointment with a lovely aesthetician for a waxing. They have blue waxing available which I searched hard for, for about two days prior to finding this spa. Overall, I had a great experience, with an aesthetician who knows what she is doing. My results lasted for about three weeks. I can't wait to go back!. Wow, I'm excited. read more

Though my first massage was not quite what I had been hoping, I did return and had a great experience. Eva was an excellent massage therapist, and I highly recommend her. The massage was truly relaxing; Eva paid attention to the details to be sure I was comfortable, that she was using the right pressure, etc. The owner of the salon was extremely friendly and went above and beyond to be sure I was pleased. I had a facial here, which I have never had before. I don't think I like facials based on this experience. There were a lot of heavy aromas, sometimes feeling like I couldn't catch my breath. I left with A LOT of stuff on my face. I was shiny. The scent of something she applied stuck with me, so the suffocation sensation continued. I went straight home and showered. I still smelled like heavy florals, but I could at least breath. I had the idea in my head that a facial should make you feel clean and light- freshly scrubbed. This was a long, long way from refreshing. Oh, and I still had a blackhead on my chin. Surely, that should have been taken care of. read more

So a few weeks ago I was cruising the net looking for a new place to get my beautification done. I came across a few yelp reviews for Sanctuary Spa. So I researched a few other places and ultimately ended up booking an appointment, hoping that the reviews were correct. WELL let me tell you I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I'm a sucker for great customer service and I must say being greeted and offered coffee, tea or water and lead back to the lounge was a great start. I was then introduced to Marie (my esthetician) and lead to the work room. It was super clean, smelled fresh, and there was tranquil music playing all good signs in my book. I wasn't as taken aback by the fact that I needed to get undressed right there with Marie because well...the reviews prepared me for that. However when it came down to business Marie was an angel. She was super friendly and we talked the whole time because for me silence just makes the experience too weird. That blue wax they use...AMAZING!!! It was the lease painful waxing experience and I was totally pleased. I will absolutely be coming back to Sanctuary for all my future appointments, and I highly recommend this place to any girl in the Tri-State area who prefers her "Goddess Goblet" looking its best! read more

This place is absolutely amazing. A friend of mine convinced me to start a girls day with a Brazilian wax. This was my first time, I've never been brave enough to actually get one. Once I checked in the owner noticed that I was starting to get extremely nervous and my anxiety was kicking in. She offered me refreshments and made sure I was at ease in the fabulous waiting area. My waxer,took me back shortly after and walked me through the process. It was over before I knew it! We spent the entire time talking, laughing and joking. This is probably the only place I'll ever spent $21 to get whybrows. These were literally the worst eyebrows I've ever had, and probably the worst I'll ever have again. Even the girl who did them said I could probably fix them by putting eyeshadow where the brow should have been. They're also the only brows I've ever cried over. Literally, legitimately cried for a few hours until I worked up the courage to fix them, because I couldn't possibly show my face in public with them unless I wanted to end up in a fail compilation for the rest of my life. Looking at them in the mirror to fix them was almost impossible - I was that upset. The girl at the front desk was nice, at least. She asked if there was anything she could do to make it better. The hair was already off, and if she thought the other girl (who had botched the job in the first place) was better at waxing than herself, I wasn't letting either anywhere near my face. The damage had already been done. What could they possibly do to fix it that wouldn't make it worse? I wasn't going to stick around to find out. I spent about an hour of trying to fix the multiple mistakes in shaping, height, patches of hair left behind, and unfinished edges, and they finally look like adopted stepsisters - you can tell they're not related, but they're trying to dress alike. That's the best I could possibly hope for after this event. I never thought I would ever call a salon visit traumatic, but here we are. What's worse is that I have an interview in 36 hours, and that was why I went there in the first place. I still have all the stresses of preparing for an interview, but now I also get to worry about my eyebrows until they can grow back in. At this point, I've seriously considered shaving them off entirely and overnighting those eyebrows for alopecia/cancer patients, but I couldn't find any online stores with same-day shipping, and I'm not sure where to buy them locally. Obviously never going back, just want to warn others before they make the same mistake and come here. Hoping to save as many brows as possible. read more
