Allison and Kim did a great job with our pedicures and massages. We all had so much fun hanging out at home and felt very pampered!

We had two masseuses and Allison (the owner) as a manicurist for my sisters bachelorette party in west Chester.

I have tried all of their massages and none have fallen short. To top it off they offer wine and snacks in their quiet room. It's definitely a must try!!

This marked my first and final visit to Montchanin Inn's "Spa." If you're seeking a quick reason to…read moreavoid giving them your money, trust me - DO NOT GO HERE. They are liars and thieves, and the services are mediocre at best, robbing you of time and money. I strongly recommend trying other local spas (La Belle, Alo, Sherif Zaki, Michael Christopher, Joseph Anthony) for a more enjoyable spa experience because Montchanin Spa is the last place you should consider. For Mother's Day, my children gave me a $300 gift card for a facial and prenatal massage. Being five months pregnant at the time, I decided to wait until after giving birth to enjoy a relaxing day to myself. I had my assistant call to schedule a 60-minute facial priced at $120, with an additional $30 service (total $150). I planned to schedule the massage for another day due to time constraints. After the facial, I realized the esthetician had only given me a 45-minute session, completing it much earlier than the scheduled 60 minutes. At checkout, the receptionist informed me that my total was $265, not the expected $150. They also failed to apply my $25 deposit and have yet to refund that amount. Perplexed, I consulted with my assistant to confirm she booked the $150 facial. I called them to report the incorrect charge, and they promised that the manager (ANNE) would call me back. However, a week passed with no response, so I called again to follow up. Upon contact, they acknowledged that I did indeed book a facial for $150. However, they claimed the esthetician, ANNETTE, upgraded me to a different facial costing $265. When asked if I was informed of this during my facial, I clarified, "Absolutely not; I was never told I was getting upgraded services." They called back, essentially accusing me of lying because Annette insisted she informed me. In an attempt to rectify the situation, they offered me a 20% discount on a massage for the "inconvenience." Yet, there was no inconvenience; their employee had lied about upgrading services without consulting me. Additionally, they failed to provide a full 60-minute facial, cutting it short by 15 minutes. The remaining $150 of the gift card was intended for the massage, but now I have only $35 left. They believe offering a 20% massage discount, which would require additional payment from me, is a sufficient resolution. As someone who routinely pays for self-care services such as nails, hair, lashes, eyebrows, laser, and Botox, I emphasize that it's not about the money. This spa essentially stole $100 from my children, who bought the gift card for their mother to enjoy a facial and massage after having a new baby. The spa accepted the word of a LYING employee, Annette. I want to highlight that I tipped her $65 on this facial, a 25% tip, only for her to lie about informing me of these upgraded services. Instead of owning up to the fact that she never communicated this information to me and that she also shortened our service time by 15 minutes, the manager and owner repeatedly refused to refund the $100 they took from me. I provided them multiple opportunities to make this right before posting this review. However, it seems their business is struggling to the extent that they are willing to STEAL FROM CUSTOMERS, EMPLOY LYING EMPLOYEES, and jeopardize their reputation over $100, which was simply a miscommunication error on their esthetician's end. It is absolutely pathetic and disgusting.

I showed her an Instagram video of the cut and expressed that my son was getting married in 2 weeks, so this cut was important. I was in the chair maybe 4 minutes, head bent forward, snip, side to side snip and the cut was done. After researching how this cut was usually done, I was beside myself. The Blow-out was spent with her fingers throughout my hair with strands flying everywhere. This blowout was faster than my own. I thought, maybe she'll go over the cut when dry but then unsnapped the black cape and said she was done. I said, "That's it?" and she replied "yep!". I got out of the chair and immediately canceled the next appointment which was the special blowout the day of my son's wedding. I thought, I can do that myself. The cut was pricey and uneven. Sometimes you don't get what you pay for.

It smelled sensational: there were diffusers in two corners of the room, the lighting was dim and scented candles were lit. I really enjoyed my massage with Julie the owner of the studio. She was friendly, informative and welcoming. She asked me questions about myself and gave me an opportunity to ask her questions too, prior to the massage. A foot treatment was part of the package, which I had first. It was warm foot soak with a wonderfully scented bath bomb, foot scrub and foot massage afterwards. Then I had a full body massage for 90 minutes-90 of the most blissful minutes I can remember ever having during a massage. The massage bed had a warming element to it, zen music was playing...It. Therapist: I don't remember his name but he claims to "know everyone" in the myofascial release massage community, was trained by some MFR guru, etc. I am always skeptical of people who have to roll out their resume, complete with name dropping, before starting the massage. When it comes to massage, your credentials apparently do not sync up with your actual skills on the table. Experience: lackluster rub down that was overshadowed with constant interrogation about my professional background. I apparently knew too much medical terminology and anatomy and this upset him. It upset him enough that he wouldn't shut up or stop trying to pry personal information from me during the massage instead of focusing on my chief complaints. For someone with ALL the education he said he had, I expected better skills and manners. It was an expensive disappointment. Miscellaneous: it's a tiny townhouse converted over to be a "studio" so you can hear everything. Including this character talking trash about me to the receptionist downstairs after the massage like a middle school adolescent. The fact that I didn't curse him out for being such a rotten massage AND trashing me to a stranger (to me) still amazes me. Recommendation: see someone else if you want myofascial release, or a male therapist. I don't know how the girls skills are but if he is the kind of male therapist they feel comfortable working with, I am sure their skills are on par with his. It's Delaware and it seems to have a huge problem with poorly trained and barely skilled massage therapists. If you just want a relaxation massage, then you wouldn't notice the things I do so ignore my reviews, they won't change anything for you.
