The most efficient and easy process. I've had a 15lb shred pile following me around for a few years and I finally decided to get rid of it. Drove up for their drive-thru service, gentleman came out, grabbed the box, weighed it and then within less than 10sec the entire pile was shred to pieces. This company is great. They shred your documents for you, while you watch. And their prices are the best. Today I had 66 lbs of documents shredded for $29. This would have cost $132 at the local UPS store, that recently raised their price to $2 per pound. I recently learned that sometimes the shredding bins at other stores are not secure. I used Santa Cruz records management to destroy 25k+ paper medical files. They have the shredding services onsite so you can see that everything is being turned into little bits of paper. The cost is reasonable and in line with most of their competitors. We dropped off large boxes of files every month for about a year. My only complaint is that at times it was hard to find someone. After reading the reviews I decided to come here and give it a shot. It was super easy. There is a drive-thru and your documents are weighed...when you turn onto the street go all the way down and you will see the drive thru sign on the left. I parked and was immediately helped. 120 pounds= 34.00 bucks (included a 10.00 base fee, .20 cents a pound) when it was all said and done. I got to watch my documents go through the massive shredder and check one thing off my "winter break" list. Seriously in 10 minutes it was all done and I was on my way. This is a great deal, with excellent service. I wish I knew they existed before I wasted my money on TWO Staples shredders that jammed up and were worthless within minutes! I had a lot of my family's personal papers and huge real estate files - all weighing me down in life. Salvadore is very personable and friendly and he doesn't make you feel paranoid for wanting to watch him shred the stuff, while you wait. The owner stopped by while I was there (Larry?) and he was also very friendly. I suggested I would "like" them on FB, but they don't have a page yet. When they do, I hope it increases their business because I don't think people realize what a wonderful neighborhood resource this is. Excellent and Secured; paper shredding and old computer hard drive disks deactivation. Excellent customer service also. Very reasonably priced. I had 3 U-Haul medium-size boxes full of 20-years worth of tax records that I needed to shred, and 4 old computer hard drive disks to deactivate. The facility is the very last building at the end of the road [use Google Map]. There is a clearly visible sign that says, drive through service, with an arrow. Drive down the pathway in the direction of the arrow, and you'll see a stop line. Turned off the car engine, and a staff member promptly came out of the office to help me. I asked if I could witness the shredding, etc. Answer: Yes, for both my paper shredding and the deactivation of my old computer hard drive disks. All done in about 5 minutes. Extremely satisfied with the efficient and secured process -- shredding and deactivation -- since I was allowed to witness the entire process in real time. What still imprints in my mind was the excellent customer service -- the staff member who worked with me was efficient, friendly, and answered all my questions. Highly recommend. Save yourself hours sitting in front of your own tiny home shredder, bored to tears, if you have lots of papers/records to shred and hard disk drives to deactivate. Afterwards, I had lots of time to enjoy beautiful Capitola Beach for the rest of the day. read more

I am a HUGE fan of this place! I find it so much better to shred papers here than to have to buy a crappy home shredder that is bound to jam and can only handle a few papers at a time. Reasons I think you should try it: 1. How many times has your home shredder jammed on you, or completely died? (then you get stuck running out to buy a new one, and have to figure out what to do with the old one, which can't be easily recycled!) 2. Your documents will all gets recycled! They bring it to a massive recycling facility in San Jose. (Whereas you can't put shredded papers in you recycle bins in Santa Cruz.) 3. Cheap! They recently reduced their rates. (It only cost me $14 to shred 20 pounds!) 4. FAST! It took about 5 minutes to give them my 2 giant bags of papers, pay the bill, and watch it run through the machine. (How long would it have taken me to shred 20 pounds of documents at home? hours upon hours!!!) 5. You can leave the staples and plastic envelope windows in! I think you can even include old credit cards! 6. They just started a drive through service that's extra fast. 7. The people there are super nice, and you can watch your documents get shredded in this crazy big industrial shredder machine! cool! They helped me unload, weighed my 4 bags, and let me watch while they shredded. I was even told a few shredding stories. Awesome experience! Before we came to SC Records Mgmt, we went to both Staples and Office Max to have about 250 lbs of paper shredded. First of all, they both had these locked bins with holes cut in them of 1"x10". You or their staff had to stand there & load these piles inch by inch & there was no privacy. Plus, who knows when it really gets shredded or what number of people potentially would have access to the data. Then, they wanted to charge me $2-2.50 per pound of paper. OMG!! The shred bill would have been $500-$625 at Staples/Office Max. We finally found SC Records Mgmt & used their drive through experience. 1-we saw our stuff shredded. 2-It only cost $10+$.25/lb for a total of $72.50. Wow!!! We'll be back. read more
