Sand Mountain was awesome. More importantly David and Joey were awesome as well as any other staff I interacted with. My girlfriend and I had an AWFUL experience with the local dealer (Bill Penney Toyota) and an awful experience when we bought my girlfriends RAV4 at Charles Maund Toyota in Austin, Tx so we drove about an hour to get the truck. From the day we ordered it to the day we picked it up there was a great line of communication and I never felt pressured. I am big on customer service so I feel like I'm often hard to please in that way but David and Joey blew me away. I will refer any and everybody I can to Sand Mountain. I was going to try to find a dealer closer to me for service but I honestly think I'll just have to take the drive because Sand Mountain seems to be run so much better than any dealer I have been to. I was as satisfied customer of Sand Mountain Toyota UNTIL TODY. I moved to the Guntersville area two years ago. I have been pleased with the service that the Sand Mountain Service Department has performed on my 2009 Tacoma TRD Off Road Truck and my 2020 Tundra SR5 Truck. I purchased and financed the 2020 Tundra S5, from Sand Mountain Toyota as I didn't have a relationship with a local financial institution at the time. It was a pleasant experience. Today, I stopped in to purchase a new 2022 Camry SE. I explained to the sales representative that I will be selling my 2009 Tacoma myself and financing the balance of my purchase through my Credit Union. I stated that their website showed that had some Camry SE's in transit. Only three feet from the front door, the sales representative stated that those vehicle in transit are already sold and continued to inform me that since Sand Mountain does not sell their vehicles above the MSRP they REQUIRE that their CUSTOMERS MUST FINANCE THE VEHICLES THROUGH SAND MOUNTAIN'S SELECT FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS. No options were offered to order a vehicle for me. The sales representative repeated (I paraphrase because I was so shocked I can't remember his exact words) Sand Mountain Toyota will NOT sell a vehicle to a customer that will not finance their purchase through Sand Mountain Toyota's lenders . In shock, I informed the sales representative that I will no longer do business with Sand Mountain Toyota. I explained that I have vehicles serviced here but will not take them elsewhere. I explained that I will not be told who I will finance my purchase through. I value doing business with companies that respect and values me and my values. If Sand Mountain Toyota's Sales Team were to speak with their Service Team they would find me to be a valued customer that is easy to do business with. Even when their service department improperly added transmission fluid to my vehicle. I didn't complain. I understood mistakes happen. No attempt was made by this individual to retain me as a customer. Never moving beyond three feet from the door way, his response to me showed how little he/they value loyal customers. After I restated that I will no longer do business with Sand Mountain Toyota as I will not be told who I will finance my purchase through. He repeated, well we don't sale cars over MSRP so we must finance the vehicle. I Value Toyota Motor Corporation. Their business principals are based what the CUSTOMER values. Toyota Motor Company provide world class service and produces the most reliable vehicles in the world. So I'll seek out and purchase my 2022 Toyota Camery SE through a TOYOTA dealership that understands the value of the relationship of a good customer. read more

At the time I was a single mom and every other salesMAN I had dealt with at other dealerships tried to tell me what I needed... not Mike! If you want a great deal on a new vehicle and want a reasonable value for your trade - DON'T visit / call this dealership. They won't work with you and feel that they don't need to because "we're Toyota"! The sales person I dealt with over the phone was very nice, very helpful and immediately provided numbers for me which included pricing sheet and model specs. As mentioned above, they won't work with you regarding numbers. They were offering me $2 less on my NEW trade and increased the price of the new vehicle by $1K (you know how dealerships play with numbers...). This entire experience took less than 20 minutes from beginning to end: my phone call, to receiving the information, to my trying to make a deal but receiving a "well, good luck and thanks for calling Sands"! Wish Lynn Layton (Decatur, AL) had a Toyota dealership as I would give them my business without hesitation. Yes, Decatur Alabama is a long drive for most (including myself) but let me tell you it is worth it! They have Nissan, Chevy and Ford I believe but not Toyota. I'm looking for a new Toyota vehicle so Lynn Layton is not an option for me, sadly. Since I want a new Toyota vehicle, I will take my business elsewhere, likely out-of-state, definitely never give Sands another opportunity again, nor will I ever recommend. Same goes for Bill Penny Toyota which is absolutely the worst by far. They are like vultures in person and over the phone once they have your contact information they won't stop soliciting. read more

Wait times and accuracy of online appointment for service is deplorable. Waiting inside is just an added frustration, the receptionist seems more interested in gossiping and talking on her phone than anything else. Not to mention the radio absolutely BLARING non-stop inside and outside. Prices are higher than other dealerships, do not recommend this dealership for service or purchase. read more

Great for service. My Tacoma has 61,000 miles and hasn't been serviced anywhere else. Love the Service Dept. Terrible for the best price on new Tacoma's. Always a higher price for new Tacoma's than surrounding Toyota dealerships. Lost a new sale to me because of this in past. Told salesman that this week and still gave me a higher price than Sunny King, where I bought my last Tacoma. Same truck and same features. Again, they won't get my new vehicle business. The salesmans don't really seem to care and don't have good customer service. Dealt with 2 here in past few months. Would love to buy local but I would save over $600 for the same truck. BTW the first offer here was about $2400 higher than Sunny King. Went down to $600 higher. read more

Horrible place! I bought a brand new 4Runner and have had problems that have not been resolved yet. It vibrates going down the road all they do is push it off and say that's "just how they ride" they got Toyota involved and basically the same thing. At 1500 miles it had to have 2 new front axles and another part replaced. It still doesn't feel right! I requested the tires be replace to see if it helps and again they pushed it off and said tires weren't covered under the warranty. Highly dissatisfied and will let everyone know how you are really treated after the sale. They pride themselves in being a "family owned dealership" but will do nothing to help after they get your money. read more

Probably the worst place I've been to yet. BY FAR. It's a nice dealership. You walk in and you're greeted by a receptionist on her phone. Rhonda had approached me first. She was VERY pushy. Very adamant on telling me what I needed and didn't care to stop to listen. The vehicle prices are MUCH higher than those an hour away in Huntsville. One 40 minute drive will save you THOUSANDS. There's about one person in each department. This dealership must have budget problems. With one person per department comes the agonizing pain of NEVER getting ahold of a specific department. One department specifically is finance. Chad is the worst. Despite the amount of times you call, he will never call back. I had to ask for his manager to tell him to call me because chad couldn't care less. The service department isn't any better either. Please save yourself and the agony and drive to gadsen or Huntsville or even Birmingham and DO NOT stop by this dealership. read more
