Sand Point Grill is a nice little neighborhood restaurant. With its low lighting, the restaurant has a relaxing and intimate feel. The burger I ordered was rather average and overcooked. It would be a nice touch if they would cook their meat to order. Some of the other dishes looked very good, so I would like to go back and try some of the other interesting menu options. read more

I was disappointed. We took my brother there for Father's Day. I had not eaten here for more than a year. It's close to us and we've had good experiences in the past. Well these are new owners I'm sure. I did not recognize any of the staff. They looked like what you expect if you were in a pub in Pioneer Square. I ordered my favorite the house burger as I loved it in the past. What I got was a small burger with a cold bun. The meat was medium rare even though I asked specifically for medium well. Maybe the server heard it wrong. It was not tasty at all. The fries were ok you can get the same at McDonalds. I had some of my brother's ceaser salad and it was fine. Hard to screw up ceaser salad. My sister-in-law had fried chicken and left most of it on the plate. I only ate half the burger and boxed the remainder but I will likely throw it out. Hate to waste food but if it was bad when I ate it right away it can't taste better one day after. I will not come here again or suggest this to others. I may have given this one star except the service was really good. My mom boxed her leftover mussels to take home. The server came back and told us someone had thrown it out before he had a chance to box it up. What? He offered a fresh half order or he can take it off the check. So my mom opted for the half order but he took it off the check anyway. Too bad as we were regulars in the past. read more

Perfect. And I don't use that word lightly. Great service, excellent food and drink, decent prices, and a great atmosphere. First, the beer and salad were good. Then, the salmon and burger were excellent. I'm rarely treated to either of those cooked expertly. The salmon was juicy, lightly seared, and not overcooked. I asked for the burger rare, and it came what I could call medium rare, reasonably sized, juicy, and dressed for deliciousness. It made a mess and came with the perfect number of tasty fries. Dessert was delicious too. The staff members were friendly and had a sense of humor, but they were not at all intrusive. It was a Saturday night, but it was not too crowded and we got in with no reservation. There was space at the bar too. Above the bar was a TV turned to sports, but the volume was low. It didn't feel like a sports bar but you could certainly catch a game there. Overall, I have no complaints - rare for me. The location is convenient for me, and I plan to go back. read more

Do Not Go Here if you are GLUTEN FREE! They have GF marked on the menu but they do not understand what it means. Both of us got really sick eating grilled steak and tuna because they heat their flour tortillas in the same grill where they grill other food! They use the same utensils and don't change them. We called and made suggestions about what to change when we learned about how ignorant they are. Go to Jak's down the street which is fabulous and one of their owners is GF so they understand and train their staff appropriately. read more

Best Reuben sandwich in town! (wins over its downtown and Belltown competitors). Perfectly grilled Essential Baking rye bread holds melt-in-your-mouth (not chewy) corned beef, fine Gruyere & top-flight sauerkraut. Chew it slowly, it's that good. The space is cozy, off the beaten track, so it invites diners to enjoy a leisurely meal. We also ordered fish & chips -- excellently dressed butter lettuce salad, fine slaw and delectably crispy chips; crunchy breading on delicious fish -- could have been deep-fried maybe 30-45 more seconds to fully cook the breading where it touched the fish, but hey, I can live with that. Grilled, whiskey-sauced bread pudding cutlets for dessert -- an unusual treatment that turned out surprisingly moist & tender. Good wine selection, too. read more

Great food, excellent wine, fabulous deserts! The new owners seem to know their way around the kitchen and they're excellent hosts. We've gone twice both times the food was as good as it gets. The wine recommendations were great and affordable. I had the seared scallops and my sister and husband had the special fish of the evening. This is an awesome place in the neighborhood. Steve is a savant about remembering your name, what you like to eat and drink, no matter how long it has been since you have been there. The food is as good as it gets, and is the best kept culinary secret in Seattle. Ambiance is key; I love the artwork and the music mix keeps me there longer than I need to be. My husband and I went to the Sand Point Grill last night and both got the 3-course dinner with the Steelhead as the main dish. It was phenomenal. This has to be the best restaurant in Northeast Seattle. We were expecting good food but we weren't expecting it to be this good. We will definitely be going back here regularly. I really dig this place. Cozy, tasteful decor and a bar scene of locals enjoying sports and community together. The servers, bartender, etc. are always really welcoming and seem to be happy. I also think it is a little-know secret that they have one of the best hamburgers in town. Ever during a game it is never too loud and a great for a conversation. Yes, there is better food in town but for the price and ease of parking and if you are not too into super-fancy, rich foods (for rich prices) this is a really excellent solid place for dinner or drinks. read more

I hadn't had a chance to visit this cozy and friendly neghborhood restaurant/bar in several years, but a friend and I found ourselves there on Sunday evening. Wow! I'd always enjoyed my meals there but I think the place is better than ever. First, we found the service to be very attentive, professional and friendly. The first course oysters were superb and fresh, with a very clever topping of teeny-tiny balls of cucumber which looked like fish roe. I had a radish salad which was sort of odd but delightful, my friend had a traditional Caesar which was top-notch. The entrees just blew us away...my friends Arctic Char was cooked just right and my Seafood Stew was a variety of fresh fish in the best dang broth I've ever had in such a dish: some cream, lemon, garlic, tarragon, white wine..and saffron which gave it a very pretty light yellow color. No room for dessert, and we enjoyed our Sapphire Martinis so much that we didn't order wine. I don't intend to be such a stranger here any longer...along with Nell's this is one of the best places I've found north of the canal! One small gripe (and I know I'm shouting to the wind): the big TV staring at me while I ate my dinner. If people want to watch TV (or talk on cell phones, or fiddle with their Balckberries, etc.) why can't they just DO IT AT HOME? read more

I was sadly disappointed:( Heard good things about it and living a rock throw away, we were very excited to try her out. Sat at bar and had slow service! Not to mention the drink I ordered he charged me for my chaser. Yes, that is right. Would be like ordering a rum and coke and getting charged for the coke. My drink was with coffee. I got charged the liquer and coffee. So my drinks were $9.75 each. Bummer!!!! Since I have been a bartender on and off again for 15 years, I know how lame this is! I live about a mile from SPG and I've eaten here dozens of times. What keeps me coming back is three-fold: 1. As a local restaurant, they rotate great specials throughout the menu along with their well-known standbys, 2). Great selection of wines and mixed drinks, 3. Service. Night in, night out, the best restaurant in Northeast Seattle. World class fried chicken and burgers. Excellent kitchen overall. A warm and comfortable atmosphere with a top-shelf bar, just the place to get in out of the rain for a few hours. Friendly owners and staff. We have been customers since they opened but won't be returning. We think the food and service have been steadily declining. Tonight we complained about the small, shriveled overcooked Penn Cove mussels we were served and the owner said that maybe they were out of season. Well, maybe you shouldn't be serving them! What a gem of a restaurant. Went in tonight, for the first time after moving to the NE Seattle area nearly 3 years ago. So wish we'd gone in, sooner! SPG has the wonderful charm of a local place where there are clearly a stream of regular patrons but with the culinary panache (scallop special was fantastic) of a "hip" place on Capitol Hill. The staff (especially charming Scott) could not have been kinder or more attentive to my two kids and me (I think they sensed on a school night we needed to keep moving). In addition to asking if we wanted bread -- rather than just plopping it down to ruin the kids' appetites, they also offered a plate of apple slices, carrot sticks, and celery. Fantastic. Healthy kids food! The kids had burgers -- high quality meat on a brioche bun. The menu has a lovely variety of options for every palate and proclivity. We'll be back to the SPG, for sure. read more

I broke the cardinal rule and asked for a substitution on the chefs special and they were super accommodating and friendly. I ordered the pan roasted salmon and mashed potatoes and they were amazing. This is an extremely friendly locals place and you will be treated well if you are a regular. Off the crazy path of U Village, this is a small, almost bistro type dining room with an ample bar that is busy. Full bar and good fare. Atmosphere: Moved to the area and have been here multiple times. Medium size restaurant (bar in front with tv for watching sports and booths/tables located in back). Family friendly. Walls are decorated with art work from local artists. Appears to have their regulars-mostly Caucasian families and older adults, not diverse in clientele ( I say this because I am a person of color looking for places that are more culturally inclusive but think this issue is reflective of the area.) Costs: A bit expensive. Most main dinner dishes range between $20.00-$35.00 per person. Service: Most of the time the service is right on (friendly, quick response, accommodating), but on a few occasions the service has been pretty slow and the server seems cold towards the guests. Recommendations: We usually get the Filet Mignon ($31.00) Roasted Fingerling Potatoes, Garlic Sautéed Spinach, Blue Cheese-Buttermilk Cream, Red Wine Syrup but I ask for mixed veggies in place of the spinach (the spinach is too bland for me). They are great about substitutions and love the creams with the meat. The filet (medium-rare) is delicious and so soft. One of the best filets I have had in Seattle. Friend had the fried chicken and really like it (large portion). $22.00 The burger (medium) with fries is also pretty good. $15.00 read more
