Yummy!! I was surprised to see the restaurant empty upon arrival but excited to try some good lunch! I will be returning to try breakfast too. First off complimentary chips and salsa-divine, the salsa was flavorful and not spicy just yummy. The server was very nice and attentive. We ordered beef quesadilla, la villa adobo chicken pasta and the 3 pepper sauce burrito. I got a Mexican Coke and my bf got the fountain drink but it was very flat and ended up asking for a Coke too. We let the server know about the carbonation issue but I'm not sure if they fixed it. The quesadilla was tasty, next time I will order quac on the side to dip, but I was dipping in the pasta sauce and that was reallly good with the cheese and beef of the quesadilla. The 3 pepper sauce burrito was my favorite and the star of the show. It was well balanced, tasty and flavorful. The pasta was okay; I think it's an interesting Smokey peppery flavor, my bf liked it a little more than I did and he had no leftovers to spare! Overall the food was good and we will be coming back. Pretty normal Mexican American restaurant. Dining room is on the smaller side. I suspect they have a robust stream of takeout orders based on the location. The owners/employees are all really nice. Prices are reasonable especially given the location/neighborhood. Portions aren't enormous but for the price I think it's very fair. read more

I will preference by saying we did pick up so I cannot speak too much on the service or the ambiance! The food was prepared extremely quick! They got it finished and packed within 10 minutes of us ordering online! When I arrived at the store, the guy at the front was very kind and attentive, immediately asking me how he could help once I walked in. Even though the food got a bit jumbled on the way back (I rode my bike), it still looks very appetizing imo. We paid about $35 for everything excluding tip. It was a good amount of food and everything had a good amount of meat in it. The chimichanga was gigantic and took me some time to finish it. My boyfriend was not having a great day but this hit the spot for him. Absolutely wonderful comfort food. I hope to go in-person another time and will update my review! read more

Very average Mexican food. Being a huge fan of Mr. Villa when it was on Lake City Way (before becoming Senor Villa), I was excited to see that the previous owners set up a new restaurant in Ravenna. So I simply had to try La Villa (aka, La Villa Mr.). Just like their previous incarnation as Mr. Villa, I really wanted to like this new place, and hoped that I had found a new great spot for Mexican food. Unfortunately, the romance never blossomed. I suppose I should have been suspicious when we arrived and were the only customers, with nobody else showing up during our entire dinner. The service was fair but not attentive or friendly. They never checked to see if the food was okay or whether we needed anything. When our table quickly made our complimentary chips and salsa disappear, they never asked if we would like more. There was a bottle of warm water on the table, so we poured our own glasses, and there was no offer of more water. When the food arrived, the portions were smaller than what we would typically get at other Mexican restaurants in the area at the same price. And the refried beans were soupy, and not just because they were still hot. My food tasted fine, but it was nothing special. My brother's mole sauce was bland when compared with mole from other restaurants. But everything was cooked well and tasted pretty standard for Mexican food; nothing bad or weird. Just smaller portions that were probably 2/3rds the size we would get elsewhere. The best thing I can say is that the salsa that they serve with the chips is tastier and less watery than the salsas at many other Mexican restaurants. read more

The service was friendly and their food was fresh and flavorful. Even the chips and salsa were delicious. The meat in both of our dishes were tender and flavorful. I wanted this to be my next easy access Mexican restaurant being so close to where I live. Unfortunately the food was maybe the worst Mexican food I've ever had and I didn't feel welcomed here at all by the server. I loved the space and all of their decorations, but they are missing some key elements to make a successful business IMO. My friend arrived first and got us a table. It seemed like there were plenty of tables available when I got there and yet there were still people waiting to be seated. I don't think they have many people working there so turnaround of tables was an issue. My friend ordered the beef enchiladas while I ordered the crab quesadilla. Red flag #1 should have been how long it took for the food to come out. Mexican food is usually super fast, unless you have a big party and they are trying to get all the dishes out at the same time. Red flag #2 was that they used surimi (imitation crab/crab stick) instead of actual crab AND charged me an extra $3 for it on the check! Um, what?! That stuff costs less than pork at the store - you definitely can't be upcharging for fake crab meat!!! My water glass sat empty for the second half of the meal and it felt like the server was pissed off at us every time we flagged him down for something. This is why I left thirsty without asking for more water and didn't bother to dispute the extra $3 charge for terrible surimi in my utterly disgusting quesadilla. If you're going to try to sneak in fake crab, at least use enough cheese so that it melts the whole thing together and I can't tell the difference! This flour tortilla fold was dry and barely edible. I needed to be in North Seattle, so I decided to try something new on my journey. Reviews for this place were promising and the photo's painted a picture of a true homemade café. When I arrived, the place was empty. As I said in a recent review my expectation of an empty restaurant is flawless service. So I'll say no more, time to review. There was a QR code on the table that said to scan for the menu. I think it's tacky, you got menus, provide a menu. No menu was provided so when she asked for my order, I had to order from memory since I looked at the menu online before heading in. Chips were fine, salsa was okay, needed heat, needed salt. When the food came, it looked good, but it was bland. The rice and beans needed salt and pepper and even then, it wasn't flavorful. The chicken wasn't bland, but it wasn't flavorful either. For me, the meal was a huge disappointment. The woman, who was clearly the co-owner by the photo, couldn't not have been more cold. She never checked in. Never filled my water and left me with the impression that my business was not appreciated. Before I left a man, and his daughter came in. They must have been special, because they were given menus and the woman was warm and friendly with them. I was not thanked for my business or thanked for coming in. There was no excuse for such rude service, but I am just going to assume the place is busy enough that they don't have to care. I found the place to be out of the way and with the food being less than impressive, I'd never consider coming back. I guess the feather in their cap is there is no competition for those that don't want to drive several miles into the city. If you like food with flavor, don't waste your time here. There are a host of taco shops that serve a much better meal. That said, I will say, prices here were extremely fair. Had the food or service been better this place would have had potential, but as is. I really couldn't recommend. read more

Saw a bunch of 5-star reviews given to this place so we'd thought we'd give it a try. The place was practically empty when we arrived. I admit we got there a little early for a Saturday night dinner, but only one other couple and a guy dining alone came in the whole time we were there. We both ordered a Cadillac margarita. They were extremely watery and all you could really taste was the sour mix. There was no hint of the Grand Marnier that was supposedly in them. Also, their QR menu (they don't hand you hard-copy menus) said they were $12. But when we got the bill we were charged $13. (WTF?). The chips were pretty bland tasting, and obviously are not made in-house. Their salsa had an overly-concentrated tomato flavor that tasted more like a pasta sauce than a Mexican salsa. It could stand some more cilantro and lime juice. Our food came out almost immediately after ordering (like in under 5 minutes), which on the surface might seem like great service, but I suspected that it's because they just have food pre-made and sitting around until you order it, rather than being freshly cooked. I ordered the enchiladas en mole. First of all they were topped with sesame seeds, which I thought odd because normally you associate sesame seeds with Asian or Middle-Eastern cuisine, not Mexican. The mole sauce was a disappointment. It was overly salty, a little watery, and lacked the rich, chocolatey flavor and consistency I've come to enjoy at other Mexican restaurants. The refried beans were the biggest puzzle on the plate. They were thin, runny, and almost gruel-like. Uggh. My husband ordered the mojado burrito, and instead of all the ingredients (ground beef, rice, refried beans, cotijo cheese) being dispersed evenly throughout the burrito, the beef was all at one end, with everything else at the other end. Again, WTF? The ambience was just kind of "meh." Their sound system was for a while playing two different simultaneous music feeds competing with each other, which was annoying and distracting. Their lighting seemed a little too bright and harsh. It would be better if the lights were turned down a notch and table candles used. Needless to say we were underwhelmed after expecting something really great. We won't be repeat customers. read more

I'm rating it a 4 only because I ordered 5 tacos which I got... but one was without meat inside (it honestly looked like there was meat inside but someone dumped it out), also I ordered with no onions and onions were on there. I have given this restaurant two tries. One a few weeks after they opened and again on Tuesday. I'm going to base this review only on my second experience. I distinctly remember not being happy with the first, but I don't have the details fresh in my mind. On Tuesday I was immediately stunned at how bad the tortilla chips tasted. They were bitter and the salsa tasted like it was laden with dry spices instead of fresh peppers, tomatoes, and onions. The chips were either burnt or cooked in burnt oil or both. I ordered the "La Villa" burrito. I expected a fairly standard cheap Mexican place burrito with ground beef, rice and beans on the inside and lettuce, guacamole, cheese and sauce on the outside. What I got was a monster with everything stuffed inside and the top split open because it was overstuffed. The flavors were muddled to say the least and the quac was brown despite being hidden inside. When I finally found a pocket of the ground beef filling I thought it tasted pretty good, but the rest of the ingredients were under seasoned or had some weird spices in them that threw the flavors off. My daughter had a quesadilla and some refried beans on the side. The beans were runny and devoid of flavor. I don't recommend this place and will not be returning. read more

Great neighborhood Mexican restaurant! The food is fresh and service is excellent. We've tried many items on the menu and all have been delicious. It's also nice to see local restaurants with that coveted "Excellent" rating for cleanliness from the department of health. They also have a great kids menu and are very accommodating to the young ones. If you live in the neighborhood, definitely add this to your "night out" rotation. read more

In all fairness I would give this place 3.5 stars... I rounded it up to four. I am so terribly picky when it comes to Mexican food and I feel like I only have a handful of places in the area that I would return to routinely. Lots of people say that Seattle doesn't really offer good Mexican food and for the most part that is true. If you come from the southern United States you can definitely confirm this without hesitation. But out of all fairness La Villa wasn't horrible. It wasn't spiced the way I prefer but few places actually have the southwestern Mexican recipes in the area and do them well. The ingredients were indeed fresh and the food did have it's own charm to it which was a couple notches above than typical Mexican fare in town. The refried beans and rice were enjoyable. I got the beef chimichanga which was pretty good as well. Again though those spices that I love just aren't present in the Mexican restaurants up here though but since the food tasted fresh that went a long ways. There was some confusion with the ordering process that I got frustrated about but it more or less got worked out. The location of the restaurant is great and the service is very friendly and eager to please. read more

Word has it folks form the former Mr. Villa on Lake City (which was our previous go-to location for Mexican food) are operating this location. So we were delighted (of course) to find out they moved closer to our home. Solid Mexican food, nothing fancy, fairly conventional offerings ('conventional' in the best sense of the word), nothing unfamiliar. Mexican comfort food might be the best way to describe their menu. The dish I can't stop ordering is their feature dish 'La Villa'. Its their grilled skirt steak with bell peppers, onions & mushrooms, finished with a fantastic avocado & jalapeño sauce. Its probably large enough to share, but I usually keep for myself, (leftovers the next day if necessary- 'cus I want it ALL!) Servers are attentive and friendly. Decor is pleasant without getting too themey or gaudy. After a long week and when the family doesn't feel like cooking- they know this is the place I will suggest! Its great to have more dining options in NE Seattle. Look forward to going back. read more

I was in the U-Village area and wanted to grab quick bite to eat. When I walked in, I came to find out that the restaurant was being ran under new management. With all restaurants being only open for take out, the employees were very welcoming and nice as if I were dining in. The food wait wasn't long at all, I ordered the Enchiladas Rojas & the Adobo Chicken Pasta. As far as the food, it was very delicious and very filling. The price i paid was very good, considering the great quality of the food. La Villa Mexican Restaurant is a restaurant that I highly recommend to all people who are looking to eat some good Mexican food in the area. read more
