Gotta try everything once and this was the first and last time. It was underwhelming from the first minute...owed to the absence of good service. No one at the front desk forever. The wrong martinis served without olives . The waitress couldn't care less. I'm not even sure we spoke the same kind of English ... I felt like I was in a scene from the movie Hell or High Water (2016). In this famous scene, an elderly waitress tells Texas Rangers Marcus and Alberto that she has worked there for 44 years and they only serve T-bone steak and baked potato, famously asking, "So what don't you want?". Well anyways, the prime rib , which is why we came, only comes as an 11 oz. cut at the largest (and it surely wasn't anything more than that thin little slice on the plate) . For a big PR lover like me just too small to ever be reconsidered. It wasn't bad , sort of middle of the road. Just too small to be taken more seriously. Are the drinks great? not really Is the food stellar? meh But is the vibe right? 100% I've not sat on their restaurant side but have visited their lounge several times over the past couple months, and it's quickly become a favorite spot of ours. Love the time portal and the community feel here. The cocktails might not be awesome, but for the price they're fine, and if you stick to something basic you'll be happy. Pretty meat-heavy menu, but they do have a veggie burger I haven't tried yet, and a quesadilla and other snacky apps in the bar. Their jalapeno poppers are great. And their salad comes adorned with cheez-its which I find charming. Plus they have popcorn! Wish I'd stumbled in here years sooner. Updated review from my 2 star posts in 2017 & 2019. Spontaneous visit on 12/21/24 for dinner. Pretty much the same, very old school. Host and wait person were aok. Shown to available seating, some previous guests sure were messy. Thorough busser got adjacent areas cleaned up. Noted that 11oz prime rib Wedgwood cut went up from $25.50 (2019) to $32.50 (2024). This still comes with soup or salad and baked or mashed potatoes. Au jus, horseradish, and gravy provided for the mashers. The overcooked mixed vegies, were reminiscent of 1970s elementary school meals. I digress. Today's dinner did the job. Service was fine. Enjoyed that OG vibe with the holiday decor. Iconic old world charm! My friend Judith suggested we go to the Wedgwood Broiler; I had no idea that the evening would feel like time travel. It's been open since 1965; pure nostalgia without the attitude. Cosy booths, dim lighting, and standard American fare on the menu. Wedgewood Broiler is the spot if you're looking for a delicious, warm, home cooked, reminds you of your grandmas house food. It is a classic diner with a variety of burgers, salads steaks etc. However, the main event of Wedgewood Broiler is the Prime-rib. The first time I heard about this place, they were raving about the prime-rib. Of course we had to try. It was delicious and perfectly seasoned cut and worth it. I have driven by the Wedgewood Broiler many times and always wanted to stop here. Tonight, an opportunity arose and here we are. When you walk in the ambiance is that of a old school diner, warm and cozy. The seating in the dining area is slightly worn and faded. There is a private dining room that can be seen from the main dining room. We could hear the bar and it sounded lively. The service from the time we entered and throughout the meal was fantastic. The downfall for our experience was the food. The food for the price is great but the quality of the meat was not good. The French dip had very nice thinly sliced meat but it was tough and it is very difficult to eat a tough French dip sandwich, no matter how much au-jus you dip. The prime rib was a bit tough and slightly over cooked. We might try it again at a later date. read more

My husband and I first went to Wedgwood Broiler in the 70's when we started dating. Prices were definitely much cheaper but the food, service, and atmosphere have not changed much. We love the Teriyaki steak dinner. The food is always delicious and hot. Service is good. We don't live close by anymore but will make an exception when we are in the area. Hope this old neighborhood restaurant with typical American food sticks around for a very long time. read more

After dinner we went into the bar and sat and waited and waited and nobody would give us the time of day. When we finally complained they said we had something rude, which was a lie. For a classic 50's steakhouse atmosphere, can't be beat! The vegetable beef soup was overflowing with delicious big chunks of beef. The London broil was tasty, a generous portion, and had a nice peppercorn gravy that really complemented the flavors, and the baked potato was creamy and tasty even without the toppings, and even the potato skin was delicious. The interior decor and staff look like they haven't changed for years, which is part of its charm - dark wood, odd photos of underwater tentacles, comfortable booths, low lighting, an aquarium. My Cousins, and I 1 Male, 1 Female went to dinner last January to take care of Family Death Situation. Meal was Ok. The Problem was the Waitress-Short Hair, Smooth Skin, Glasses-was Ok with Us the 2 Males, but had an Attitude towards My Female Cousin, just a minor mistake with the order She had Requested-Not A Serious Issue-The ATTITUDE toward My Female Cousin was Unacceptable for A Server. Later in April Female Cousin went in for a Drink and Appetizer. Waited 30 minutes for the drink never came, while 2 other tables with Males were served with drinks 1st and had Entered after. Brought to attention to server of after 20 minutes and still had not been served the drink-only 3 tables in bar. She was Treated with Meaness Rudeness by the Unprofessional Male Manager/Owner- She left after 30 minute wait-No Drink or Appetizer served. I love the look, old school dark mid-century vibe! The food...could maybe use a revamp?! The portions were great, but didn't have much flavor (prime rib and cheeseburger). I got the captains plate (seafood combo) and it was all overly battered (more breading than fish) and overly fried (dark and hard instead of golden and crisp). The Wedgwood Broiler is one of my favorite restaurants, they have a nostalgic feel and the food and service are always good, I've been going there for decades. It's my understanding they are scheduled to close as a developer has purchased the building. I don't know if there are plans to open in the new development and I am sure the vibe will change if they do reopen. I'd suggest trying the restaurant before it closes especially if you like the vibe old time restaurants have. read more

Something has gone wrong with this restaurant. We've have eaten here for years, and it has been consistently delicious. But last night, we had a very disappointing meal. They've changed their rolls from yummy to so-so. Our "prime" rib was unchewable and tasteless--it's probably select grade. I gave mine to our dog. Even the mashed potatoes were not good; they had crunchy bits that are probably scrapings of dried out edges of the mashed potatoes bin. It was an expensive terrible meal. I'm hoping they will improve and once again be the great restaurant they once were. read more

There are very few places like this left anywhere! They are being replaced by growth and a modern era of dining. Love it there, it will be sad whenever they close. The prices are reasonable, and the food is what you would expect for the price. It is good food. Don't expect fine dining, that's not what this is. The drinks are good and equally reasonable. I particularly like the bar vibe, it's very nostalgic, it opened 60 years ago and probably hasn't changed much. This is preserved in time. If I was closer, I'd be in there once a week. The photos are misleading! Came with my partner, had liver&onions, prime rib and a couple drinks. We were not expecting anything fancy at all..and we received less than that!! Service was awful, and they weren't busy. Food was less than mediocre and terribly over priced! The drinks were weak/watered down. Liver was; dry, prime rib was crazy fatty, even by prime rib standards and even salad was soggy and brown. Plus just iceburge lettuce and dressing. There's a ton of places in this same area that are way cheaper for a rating when I say Denny's & B.Y.O.B. would be a better use of your money. Almost $100 for 2! The dining room gets high marks for peace and quiet even when it's full of diners. There is none of the clatter and noise of most restaurants. Also, very high marks for an actual men's room and women's room; none of this all genders restrooms where men and women are expected to mix it up in spaces where privacy is needed. Let me tell you about a time machine that is the Wedgewood Broiler. If you're looking for a decent steak and don't want to pay 50 or 75 bucks, Wedgewood Broiler is a good option. If you're young and you want to experience dining the way your grandparents or parents did try the Wedgewood Broiler. The broiler scores extra points because it's quiet enough that you can have a conversation with your dinner companion. When you walk in, it's like going through a portal back to about 1970. I am sure that things have been cleaned up, fixed up and repaired over the last half century but the vibe is still late 1960's to early 70's. The presentation is pretty basic. If you order a steak you get a steak with the potato of your choice and whatever vegetables the chef has come up with. Tonight it was corn and carrots. Not particularly exciting and the preparation looks like it probably came straight out of a big bag of vegetables that was delivered in a freezer truck from their vendor. Your dinner salad will be iceberg lettuce with a few pieces of salami and some cheese-it's. It is highly likely this is the same recipe for a dinner salad that was served in 1965 when they opened. You need not concern yourself about whether you will experience nouvelle cuisine or farm to table dining. That doesn't happen here. C'mon, try it keep the old days alive in Wedgewood. read more

I heard this place will be closing, so decided to visit here before that happens. I really enjoyed myself here. The experience is a five star for me, the food is more a low four star. What I liked the best, was the throw back experience. The interior is dimly lit, with orange lights. The have the broiler in the middle of the restaurant, so you can watch the cooks. I started with a raspberry lemon drop. It came in a large glass, with an old fashioned strainer on top. It was really good. The lighting, the cooks, the drink; all made me remember happy memories. I had the prime rib. It was good, some fat and less tender pieces. But for me, the food was a second. Cheese it's on salad, freeze dried chives for the baked potato. Slightly sad vegetables. But I got a coffee drink with homemade whipped cream on top. Nostalgia eating, like being transplanted back to the 70's. And for those memories, this place was a hit for me. I walked by the lounge and saw a packed room full of loud people, clearly regulars. Come here for the experience and drinks and lower expectations for great food. read more

An iconic Seattle establishment, serving stiff drinks and classic American steakhouse fare. Wedgewood Broiler was opened in 1965, and has remained a homey local favorite since. They are open daily from 4pm-8pm. The decor is charmingly dated, with lots of framed vintage logging photos. They have a dining room, but I recommend sitting in the lounge, which has roomy booths and a distinctly 70's vibe. I am a vegetarian who loves steakhouses for the cocktails and side dishes, and The Broiler did not disappoint. Their signature cocktail list is extensive, but I kept it classic and got a Dirty Martini. It contained such a generous pour that I got solidly drunk off of ONE. My husband's Dole Whip cocktail was delicious; sweet without being overly artificial, and strong af. I absolutely loved the house salad, which features crisp greens, your choice of dressing, and the most underrated crouton in existence: Cheez-It's. Genius. I also got a baked potato (another Broiler must-try), which was topped with a comically generous amount of butter. My husband and friends all got steaks, which were enjoyed.
