Clam Chowder & small dinner salad w/bleu cheese (12/21/24)
    Marie B.

Updated review from my 2 star posts in 2017 & 2019. Spontaneous visit on 12/21/24 for dinner. Pretty much the same, very old school. Host and wait person were aok. Shown to available seating, some previous guests sure were messy. Thorough busser got adjacent areas cleaned up. Noted that 11oz prime rib Wedgwood cut went up from $25.50 (2019) to $32.50 (2024). This still comes with soup or salad and baked or mashed potatoes. Au jus, horseradish, and gravy provided for the mashers. The overcooked mixed vegies, were reminiscent of 1970s elementary school meals. I digress. Today's dinner did the job. Service was fine. Enjoyed that OG vibe with the holiday decor. Note - never say never. I willingly returned albeit after five years. Averaged and rounded up to three stars.

Iconic old world charm! My friend Judith suggested we go to the Wedgwood Broiler; I had no idea that the evening would feel like time travel. It's been open since 1965; pure nostalgia without the attitude. Cosy booths, dim lighting, and standard American fare on the menu. I had the Cod fish & chips - I chose the mashed potatoes b/c the french fries aren't hand-cut. Tasty just the same.

Wedgewood Broiler is the spot if you're looking for a delicious, warm, home cooked, reminds you of your grandmas house food. It is a classic diner with a variety of burgers, salads steaks etc. However, the main event of Wedgewood Broiler is the Prime-rib. The first time I heard about this place, they were raving about the prime-rib. Of course we had to try. It was delicious and perfectly seasoned cut and worth it. It comes with a salad with cheezt-it's on tops which is amazing and two sides. Would come back over and over.

I have driven by the Wedgewood Broiler many times and always wanted to stop here. Tonight, an opportunity arose and here we are. When you walk in the ambiance is that of a old school diner, warm and cozy. The seating in the dining area is slightly worn and faded. There is a private dining room that can be seen from the main dining room. We could hear the bar and it sounded lively. The service from the time we entered and throughout the meal was fantastic. The downfall for our experience was the food. The food for the price is great but the quality of the meat was not good. The French dip had very nice thinly sliced meat but it was tough and it is very difficult to eat a tough French dip sandwich, no matter how much au-jus you dip. The prime rib was a bit tough and slightly over cooked. We might try it again at a later date.

For a classic 50's steakhouse atmosphere, can't be beat! The vegetable beef soup was overflowing with delicious big chunks of beef. The London broil was tasty, a generous portion, and had a nice peppercorn gravy that really complemented the flavors, and the baked potato was creamy and tasty even without the toppings, and even the potato skin was delicious. The interior decor and staff look like they haven't changed for years, which is part of its charm - dark wood, odd photos of underwater tentacles, comfortable booths, low lighting, an aquarium. It seemed like many of the patrons were well known by staff and come there every week.

Our server was really nice but maybe stretched too thin bc she forgot to put our order in and threw away her paper that she wrote it on so she had to come re take our order. We had full intentions of ordering entrees from here but they were out of the main dishes. Just seems like the kitchen manager isn't planning well, staff doesn't have help from management. The only thing keeping this restaurant afloat is the view and the DJ

It's at the corner of one of the buildings. Dark, mid sized interior with some cool neon lights and light up marble pattern bar counter. Not very busy when I went at happy hour/dinner time on a Friday night, but the place is busier later at night on Friday/Saturday during the warmer months. Sometimes they have events and DJs. Sat at the bar and tried out some happy hour specials. Got the Korean sauce wings ($12) and cheese truffle fries ($8). Decent amount of fries, definitely has cheese flavor but not that much truffle oil aroma. I liked the wings which you get 6 per order. They weren't fried, but rather tender and juicy. Sauce was agreeable. Definitely enough food for my dinner. As for the drinks, I got the rosemary mule which is Moscow mule with some rosemary herb. The copper mug they use is good sized. Tasted refreshing although could feel the alcohol afterwards. Also tried a corpse reviver no. 2, which was a little sweet but has a punch. Cocktail prices are not cheap outside of happy hour, in the upper teens. Overall, was glad I tried the place out. Will drop by for happy hour once in a while.

I opted for their mezcal cocktail while my homegirl got a s'more's type martini I think. Their menu also offers food and wine, but we opted to just try some drinks and bounce. Instagram : @yeapeats…read more I was excited to try Needle & Thread since it's often described as a speakeasy, but the "hidden" aspect didn't quite live up to expectations. Unlike other speakeasies that feel truly hidden, you actually just walk into Tavern Law, check in with the hostess, and let them know you have a reservation. They then guide you to a telephone where you repeat your reservation name before being let upstairs. It's a fun concept, but not especially secretive, and they're pretty strict about not letting you up early unless it's very empty. Once seated, we actually waited almost 20 minutes before being served with no acknowledgement. We ended up having to flag down the manager just to bring attention to our table, which was disappointing given the experience they're aiming for. The waitress asks a series of questions about your preferences--likes, dislikes, and flavor inspirations--so the bartenders can create custom cocktails for you. If you're knowledgeable about alcohol, this is probably a dream. If you're not (like me), it can feel a little intimidating, but our waitress was patient and did her best to guide us through it. The drinks themselves were excellent. Even the shots were customized, which was a nice touch. The vibe upstairs is chill and relatively quiet, making it a great place to relax and talk. Food is the same menu as downstairs at Tavern Law, so nothing new there. The only downside--and unfortunately a noticeable one--was an interaction with the female bartender (not our waitress). Based on the questions we were asked, my friend gave a mix of savory and sweet preferences, since we were told these were just inspirations. However, the female bartender came over sounding visibly annoyed and said, "So do you want savory or sweet? You're giving contradicting answers." The tone felt unnecessarily rude, especially since we were just following the process as it was explained to us. Overall, the drinks were great and the concept is unique, but between the delayed service and that negative interaction, it definitely put a damper on the experience.
