Small restaurant that gives off that neighborhood vibe. Regulars were sitting at the bar when we walked in. We had some great sliders to open up. My friends had the pork chops and the oxtail pasta, while I had to try the fried chicken. Solid, but not outstanding. What did surprise me was that they havd a special of foie gras. I wasn't expecting that. The bartender was pretty friendly, but the rest of the staff seemed to be going through the motions. Maybe it was because we weren't regulars. There are not too many dining options in our neighborhood, so we come to Sand Point Grill at least once a week. Food is good and service is not bad too. But here is the thing I want to let management know. Yesterday we came around 7:25 - 7:30, and the waitress informed us that they stop sitting people around this time, even though the restaurant closes at 8. There were at least 4 groups of 3-4 people who tried to get a table at that time. I used to work in the restaurants and all of them welcomed customers until closing time. I hooped by yesterday to have a couple drinks. I got a roasted beet salad OMG!!! It was fabulous roasted beet, Brussels sprout leafs, blue cheese w/ cranberry vinaigrette. The burger was fine.... Beer was really cheap $3 for happy hours. The bartender was nice. The change in ownership at the restaurant has not been good. An entirely new menu and it's a completely different staff, environment and culture. Food is adequate, and the wait staff was mediocre but the set menus were uninteresting and the push from the wait staff was offensive. Any typical weeknight the restaurant would have been packed with families and friends. Now, barely a third of the restaurant was filled. We won't be back. read more

Since I cannot go out much due to health reasons, I rely on Uber Eats for much of my food deliveries. I saw Sand Point Grill was listed as a top eat and I live in the neighborhood so I thought "let's do it." I gotta thank all the Yelpers because they sang praises for the burger and IT. DID. NOT. Sand Point Grill - New American Near Me - Seattle, Washington

We ate dinner here last night with our 18 month old and parents/in-laws, and they could not have been more wonderful to our son (and all of us). They had the table all set for our reservation along with the high chair, and when we sat down, brought over some Curious George board books for him to flip through, along with some cut up fruit and avocado. Not only that, but they were super warm and friendly with him and all of us the entire meal. The service was above-and-beyond. The food was delicious. I had the cioppino, and we ordered some mussels for the table. Both were great. Strong drinks, and a good beer selection as well, and a good selection of entrees for vegetarians. The dinner was before a big surgery for one of our family members, so the kindness of the staff was appreciated more than they likely knew. We live in the neighborhood and will absolutely be going back soon. read more

I've done two carry-outs in the last week, and the food and service have been amazing. The best salad is one of the best beet salads I've ever had, with red AND golden beets! The potato skins were an updated version and were tasty, crispy, and the dipping sauce complimented them perfectly. Tried a few other dishes, all of which were equally delicious. I kind of don't want to tell you all about Sand Point Grill because I can't believe how good it is for being in a completely random neighborhood and not really having any hype around it. We live in a sort of adjacent neighborhood and this is one of the places we have always driven by but never stopped in. The night we did go, it was just out of convenience so we didn't have to drive over to a more "hip" area. I kind of thought it would be a sort of overpriced neighborhood joint for old people. I was so wrong! The cocktails were awesome and the food selection was good -- quite a few bar items for around $10-12 and several good dinner options for between $15-20. We had the burger and Reuben and split both. The burger was really good but the Reuben was AMAZING. I am not sure what kind of magic mojo the chef has going on with the Reuben but it was kick ass. There are other things I want to try on the menu but I just keep thinking about that reuben. . .mmm. My cocktail was good, there was a decent beer selection (your typical Seattle microbrews) and hubby raved about the Bloody Mary the bartender made for him. Our whole ticket came to around $50 or so, which is pretty good for two generous meals, two cocktails and a beer with dinner. The decor is comfy, with warm tones and paintings of jazz musicians all over the place. Probably half the room is taken up by the bar, so no need to feel bad for going in and doing bar stuff and not ordering a more expensive dinner. I wouldn't describe it as hip, but I definitely wouldn't say it is outdated or anything -- it's just really low key and comfy. I'm definitely going back! read more

This review was based on my experience during Seattle Restaurant Week for dinner. Service was okay but the real reason for the low rating was the food. I was more than disappointed when I tasted my Crab Risotto. Not only was it bland in taste but the consistency was awful. Authentic risotto is supposed to be rich, hearty and thick. Sand Point's was swimming in a pool of butter and was not cooked properly. The Mussels for our appetizer was okay but I've had much better broth from other places. The Nostalgia Peanut Butter Mousse with pie crust and layered bananas was good. It had a nice presentation but the portion was a little bit on the small side. My Grapefruit Drop was alright. I didn't think it had enough alcohol in it tasting more like a juice than a cocktail. I was surprised by the casual atmosphere where you can wear a baseball cap and workout clothes despite the nice decor. The place was clean but small. The bar area is tiny, I can't imagine this place during happy hour. read more

Unfortunately they have gotten less and less reliable of a place to order takeout from and our recent order didn't get placed at all. If you are in person, give it a shot. I was supposed to meet a friend here for happy hour only to find she got her days mixed up so here I was...alone! Well, this is the place to be stranded. I was not the only "individual" in the bar area. Several people were there alone. That's just the kind of friendly, neighbor place it is. An upscale Cheers, of sorts. The kicker is $5 martinis during happy hours. The bartender laughed when I asked what kind. Seems everyone has fine print restrictions or you're doomed to horrible well gin. Any gin or vodka - 5 bucks! Same with wine and beer. It was one of the best pours I have had in a long time. Clearly I was focused on the bar, but I did indulge in their snack plate. It was delicious with fresh, salty almonds, fried goat cheese, salami and some tasty flatbread crackers. I'm going back for dinner ASAP! read more

The menu looked great but the service so turned us off that we couldn't wait to leave. Upon entering there is an awkward little waiting area. It took 5 minutes for anyone to even to knowledge us. Then the hostess(?) confirmed our name on her reservation list and turned and walked away - we thought to ensure our table is ready. After she got about 20' away she realized we hadn't followed her then she turned and said 'Come on in.' That was the beginning and end of our welcome. The busser brought our waters without comment and quickly retreated. Our server pointed out the prix fixe meal and said the soup is listed there and "that's all I have to tell you about." Later when after he asked if we needed anything additional, and my wife said that she was good, he responded, "I know you're good but do you want any more snackies?" We had ordered the snack plate and it was great with a nice assortment of marcona almonds, olives, goat cheese, and shrimp. The beers were very fresh and promptly served. The ambience suffers from an identity crisis of awkward service from jeans-wearing staff, and an appearance of marginal strip-mall romance slammed against Chinese food court. I'm new to Sand Point, found this spot on Yelp, and decided to check it out. My girlfriend and I went on Rib Night and were absolutely blown away. My hands have never been cleaner at the end of a rib dinner - the meat fell off the bone with the scrape of a fork. Holy cow. We also ordered the Ruben, which I believe is a regular menu item, and it was everything we could have hoped for. There was a noticeable presence of seafood options on the menu which I am curious to try in the future. Our server was also great. He was friendly and genuine in his demeanor. Nothing but good things to say about the staff here. I'm super glad this place is so close to where I live. I will inevitably be back again. And then some. read more

I came here to support Dining Out for Life--where part of your bill goes to support AIDS research. A friend of a friend was volunteering at this restaurant, so we came out to support. It looks like a great neighborhood family restaurant, but the food was just not good. I ordered the steak frites, which were not really steak frites in the traditional sense, but merely dry, tough grilled rib eye with a side of fries. It also came with an onion jam that just did not go well with the meat. Some of the worst steak I've ever had. The fries weren't any better. Perhaps, I just ordered the wrong dish, though. My boyfriend had the filet minon with bleu cheese sauce, and it wasn't too bad, although I did feel that it was still overpriced. Oh well, at least it was for charity. read more

My husband and I have been regulars at this restaurant for several years. We've always consider it a consistently good place. The food has always been good. Recently, the restaurant was sold and we've been disappointed in the quality of the food. I ordered the Caesar salad with the fried chicken. This was my main course. The salad has shrunk in size and the chicken was not crunchy fried, it was soggy. There's something different about the dressing, as well. We like the Happy Hour and the bar tenders, but if the food keeps going down hill, they've lost us and I've heard the same from other regulars. Too bad!! We wish them good luck. read more

Sand Point Grill is a very nice neighborhood restaurant. If you live in Laurelhurst, Windermere, View Ridge, you probably know it. Smaller space, but its very intimate. Staff is friendly, lots of regulars. It has a small separate bar area with TVs, but this doesn't intrude on the dining room. Very kid friendly. My daughter loves the mac and cheese here. Dad likes the food as well. Food is American style, leaning towards the top of the scale. Steaks, fish, well presented pasta dishes. I LOVE their risotto. Dungeness crab, corn, shiitake mushrooms, mascarpone, lemon oil.......Yummmmm. Drinks are stiff and tasty, wine selection is decent. Love the staff here. Great neighborhood joint. I lived right down the street for a number of years and love this place - we had been waiting for a restaurant like this for a long time. The food ranges from burgers to rack of lamb. The menu revolves also, so every couple of months there is something new. I have found that the fish tacos on their appetizers are delicious! The fried chicken is also great along with their burgers. Getting two appetizers would serve as a dinner as well. They also DO have a happy hour before 6 just so you know :) The owner is great, always greets you and really you always run into a neighbor! read more

We ate here last week on a Tuesday night and the place was packed--I wonder why? Maybe because it was Restaurant Week or maybe because it's a neighborhoodie type place with an established clientele. The food is good, but there are plenty of places where the food is just as good with lots of empty tables on weekday nights. Food: Pretty good. Not great, but pretty good, and there's nothing wrong with that. Hey, if more restaurants were "pretty good," the world would be a better place. I had a burger (maybe a little better than pretty good), and a spinach salad (maybe a little less than pretty good). My companions had the fried chicken and schnitzel, both of which met with their approval. Prices are fair and reasonable. Service: I'm not a fan of the service here. Look, I like casual service. But I like servers who seem really interested in what you're ordering and how you like your meal. I also like servers that you can identify--that is, servers who are dressed so that you can tell them from the customers. This place is kind of weird that way. Maybe it's all family? In any case, servers here seem not to be all that interested in what they're doing or, more importantly, how YOU'RE doing. They are also dressed in like they just walked in off the street. Would it be so hard to establish some sort of dress code, like "white shirt, dark pants"? I mean, the only way you can tell who works here is to watch who goes into the kitchen. Room: Nothing fancy, but comfortable. The place is in a cute little strip mall on the south side of Sand Point Way. It's very, very, very, child friendly, and boy, were there a lot of them the night we were there. I like kids, as long as they are well behaved, and these sure were. Parking is on the street and seems like it would be pretty easy. I'll be back, when I'm in the neighborhood. If you're in the neighborhood (and we DO all go to University Village to shop sometimes), you might want to give it try too. read more

I'm hesitant to tell you how amazing this place is, for fear it will get more difficult to get a table. The chefs/owners are top notch and everything the send out front is killer. The mussels are by far the best I have ever had- and I have had a wide range. They are large plump and succulent in an aromatic broth with a touch of cream to finish. Came here for the first time yesterday and it seemed very busy. We decided to sit in the bar area and were given menus and water 10 minutes in. I noticed there were 6 tables sat in the back and 3 servers which should be enough for fifteen tables. Menu looked ok, kind of boring but maybe it's good that is done well? I will never know. After flagging down the busboy to get a server, we still were not greeted or attended to. The worse thing about this whole experience is that they all congregated at the POS system by the bar and just shot the breeze while we were waiting. I cannot say anything about food or drink because they simple did not care enough to even greet us and get us started. I will not be back. read more

The atmosphere here is much fancier than its name would suggest, with lots of dark wood and brass finishes. They have very authentic tonic at the bar, not that clear Schwepps stuff. Absolutely nothing on the Happy Hour menu is gluten-free, including the tortillas, but they were willing to accommodate me after, to my surprise, the tacos arrived in flour tortillas. Service was OK. Our waiter never came and checked on us during the meal. We used our Entertainment book card, which gave us 1 entree free and she made sure to write the *real* total on ALL 3 of the reciepts so we'd tip accordingly. The food, however, was excellent. Both the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and the pork sausage thing were delicious. Overall ambeince was very nice and warm, with a hint of "wine bar" feel thrown in there... We had an impromptu date night here as the offspring had a long practice session at nearby Magnuson Park. We made it just in time for Happy Hour specials and sat up front in the bar area. Great service - you can tell why so many locals come here (everyone else there that night it seemed knew the staff). Very attentive. Great menu - bar is short but lots of tasty, reasonably priced choices, or you can order off the 'fancy' menu too. Best deal seemed to me the wine special - $5 for any wine by the glass - not the usual house wine swill ; ) We'll definitely come back anytime we have time to kill waiting for practices to end! read more

Had the burger and fries. It was pretty good! Loved the brioche bun especially. The service was decent, very busy establishment and I was still checked on several times by my server as well as the hosts. I was definitely happy with everything I had. My only suggestion, and it's definitely not the biggest of deals, would be to toast the bun. That's perhaps a personal preference, but I think it would have been a good call. Good happy hour specials! $2 bottled beer, $2.50 draft beer, $5 wine, and $2 off their bar menu! They use kennebec potatoes which apparently makes a huge difference because the fries were awesome! I got the burger which has grass fed beef, Beecher's cheese, onion marmalade, thick slices of perfectly crispy bacon, tomatoes, and lettuce served with a pickle and fries on the side. I love burgers that are too tall to actually bite into gracefully and this one fit the bill! I was only able to get through half of it during happy hour so I took the rest of it home and enjoyed it the next morning. This is a good solid bar & grill in the area. The atmosphere is nice-- casual enough to feel welcome in jeans, but a little nicer also so you can be a little bit more dressed up and not feel too weird. I mean, they have cloth napkins, which is all I really need to say. Maybe not worth a trip if that's all you're doing, especially when Jak's is up the street, but worth a stop-in if you're in the neighbourhood! read more
